Chapter 8

Miriam's return.
MIRIAM'S POV
'I have plans."
Ivy gave me a stern look the moment I made that statement.
'Trust me I know what to do." I assured her and she gave me a concerned look.
'I just hope we would not have to deal with the fact that he is your mate. Gosh, you are even heavy with his child." Daniel said and Ivy stood up as she covered her mouth with both hands in surprise.
She had not come when the doctor announced the news of my pregnancy.
'You mean you are pregnant for Christopher?" Ivy asked and I nodded my head affirming what she just said.
'He must never know about this child." She added as she came closer to me for another hug.
I held her as close as possible as that was the kind of treatment I really needed at this point.
As I sat back on the bed staring at Ivy and Daniel, looking at their eyes filled with so much love, I scolded myself for allowing Christopher and his cohorts treat me like trash.
'How long do we have to be here?" Ivy asked Daniel and he mumbled something we both did not hear and we started laughing.
'We will have to wait for the doctor's instructions." He finally spoke out loud and joined us in the laughter because we did not stop.
'Please get me food guys." I told them and Daniel rushed out to get me something to eat.
We spent almost four days in the hospital because the doctor kept complaining of my weight loss, and how stressed I am, adding that I needed all the rest I could get because I am pregnant.
This almost pissed me off. The restrictions she placed on my activities were just so much and it was never me staying away from my life just as she has said.
As soon as she left, Daniel started giving me another sermon on what she had said. I was not just concerned about what they were both saying. All my thoughts centered on how much change I should meet by the time I get to take over things at the pack.
I know how proactive and efficient Daniel is but I just hope I don't lose the confidence of my people. I have been away for such a long time.
I gave my all serving as Luna of the blood moon pack because Michael and I did more of the workload. We handled things without even letting Christopher know about it.
'Your child should be the next alpha of the blood moon since Louise has lost hers." Ivy said and I didn't know what to say to her.
I sincerely don't want Christopher to know about my child. He had the opportunity to keep me and my child but he chose Louise over me. He didn't even bother coming after me to know if I was alive or not.
What on earth or in the heavens will ever make me consider going back to such a man. Someone who cares less about the one he calls his. I should be his first in everything.
Nothing should come before me but in this case, everything came before me including Louise. I just hope it turns out good for him because I know how much of a bitch Louise is.
'What is still keeping these people from discharging us?" Ivy said distracting me from my thoughts.
I suddenly got a headache. It banged as though I had all kinds of musical instruments playing in my head.
I held my head with my hand and the attention I got from both of them was something else. They hurried off to call the doctor who said I needed bed rest. I declined her offer and insisted I must leave the hospital at once.
She obliged me but made me promise to come back if the symptoms persisted which I agreed and we were discharged.
Yes, I said we because Ivy and Daniel never left my side.
The journey home was so quiet and seamless and Ivy tried to keep me company.
I looked around and observed everywhere we passed and I could notice so much change. It was as though I have never been here all my life.
I looked at Daniel who has single handedly done all of these during the period of my absence and gave him a warm smile.
He caught the eyes and returned the smile as he squeezed my hand.
'We have a lot of catching up to do, so get ready to tell me everything." Ivy said and I just smiled while Daniel told her to give me some time to recover.
We got home and we all agreed that we would not let anyone know that I am around. I had decided to stay indoors for sometime to observe things before meddling in the affairs of the government.
I also needed the time to clear my head. It was already messed up. I need to remove the thought of Christopher because I don't think I have gotten over him already. He was such a sweet soul until he was bewitched by Louise.
I walked into the room and laid on the bed and Ivy told one of the servants to massage my feet. As soon as her hand touched my feet, I felt the kind of relief I haven't felt in a while.
'Who is there?" I asked as I could not even sit up to see the person's face.
'It's Claire." Her beautiful voice was so soothing and my lips parted in a beautiful smile.
'Welcome back, Alpha." She continued as she pushed my feet from one corner to another.
'Thank you, Claire. But make sure no one outside this place gets to know about my return." I instructed.
' I promise, Miriam." She said and continued to massage my feet and I asked her to move to my legs and thigh. Before I knew it, I started dozing and I still felt her hand on my body until I slept off.
I woke up the next morning and saw Daniel by my bedside sitting quietly as though he was meditating on something.
'Good morning, Miriam," he greeted as I struggled to open my eyes because of the sun rays that had penetrated through the window.
I loved the feeling of the sun on my skin as it made me warm.
'Good morning, Daniel. How are you?" I asked.
'Much better than I was while you were still in with the blood moon pack." He responded with a smile and handed me breakfast.
I really enjoyed the meal afterwards I freshened up and walked to the balcony.
From there I could see everything that happened in the building and everyone that came in and went out.
As I observed silently, I saw a beautiful lady walk in and the way everyone else treated her tells that she had been a part of them.
I almost came down to ask who she was but I just had the stay back because I didn't want to cause an uproar.
I know how those in the silver moon pack behave. If there is one thing prevalent amongst them is their ability to love easily.
I think this was what got me into this mess with Christopher. I loved him from the purest of hearts and sacrificed my crown just to be with him. If only he knew a bit of everything I did and had to give up just to be with him, he wouldn't have treated me the way he did.
'You gave room for all that. If you had put him in his place early enough, he would have known better than to mess with you." My wolf scolded me and I agreed with her.
I gave Christopher more than he deserved and I badly regret it.
What hurts me more is the fact that I was carrying his child. I really did not need anything that would make me remember Christopher, but here it was growing inside of me.
This reality made me depressed immediately and I just wished something could happen to this child.
'You are up already?" Ivy's voice came and I tried to turn to face her but she hugged me from behind before I could turn.
'Good afternoon, Miriam." She said,
'It's afternoon already? I never realized it." I was surprised that the day has grown old already. It feels like I stood here moments ago but it turns out that I have been here for hours.
'Was Louise really pregnant?" Ivy asked me and I made a gesture telling her that I don't know.
'If she was actually pregnant, I think it should be Christopher's. I mean he would not treat you the way he did if the child wasn't actually his." She added and I disagreed with her. I could not believe that I was defending a man who could not stand by me at the moment I needed him but I had to.
'I know Christopher, he has eyes for only me." I told her I was confident of the fact that I was his only woman until I left.
'You can never be so sure." She told me and I saw sense in what she said.
My Christopher had changed, he was no longer the man I knew.
'Well, I think I don't care about him anymore. He could do whatever he pleases." I said but I lied.
I still do care about him but I must make sure I stop.
'You are on track already, the first step is to leave, which you have done and the second is to stop showing it and you have stopped too." My wolf commended me with such a sweet voice. It's been a while since she spoke so softly to me and I was impressed.
'What is that smile about?" Ivy teased me and I smiled more. We both started laughing out loud and she giggled more.
'Please stop it Ivy, I can feel my ribs already." I said as I continued to laugh.
'That reminds me, I saw a beautiful lady walk in and everyone was all over her. Who is she?" I asked her as I took a sip from the glass of juice, she had brought for me.
'She is Daniel's girlfriend. Her name is Cherry, you will love her, trust me." She said and blushed as though she was the one Daniel was in love with.
'Seriously?" I asked, sounding so indifferent about the whole issue. I felt somehow, but I decided to tell myself it wasn't jealousy.
I had known Daniel almost all my life but I couldn't tell if I was in love with him or not but I really liked him.
'He intends getting married to her soon, Daniel said you are the one he was waiting for to proceed. Now you are here, we have a wedding to plan." Ivy said as she tossed her hands in the air.
'So, tell me what has been happening all along." I asked Ivy but she stayed quiet for a while.
'Daniel is the best person to answer this question. I haven't been here all the time. My father has become incredibly weak. You wouldn't believe he was once powerful." She said and her voice turned sour almost immediately.
'I need to visit him." I told her as I rubbed her back.
'He will be glad to have you. It's been a long time since you saw him." She answered.
'Plan towards it, tell me when he will be available to see me so I can come over." I told her and she assured me she will.
'Please help me check what is going on downstairs, I need to come out of this room." I told Ivy, and she walked out immediately.
