Chapter 45

MIRIAM'S POV
Just as Jerry had instructed I found myself in my room laying down on the bed with my eyes glued to the ceiling. I didn't know what I was looking at but I was just staring at it.
Suddenly tears started dropping from my eyes.
I thought maybe it was because I had stayed for a long time without blinking but at the end of the day it turned out that I had this lump in my throat that I couldn't let out.
As soon as I found out that I had a burden, I started crying. I cried for a very long time and hoped I would cry myself to sleep as usual but this time was different.
Since sleep was not forthcoming and my eyes could no longer let out its tears I walked into the bathroom and washed my face and then walked downstairs.
I called Trish to come help me massage my feet and my back and she came up with me immediately.
I didn't realise Daniel was walking behind us until we got to the room.
Trisha tried to close the door but she couldn't because Daniel pushed it. That was when we knew he had been following us.
"Come in Daniel." I said to him and he pushed the door wider as he walked through it freely.
"Please go back and close my door," I instructed him, pointing out the door he left open.
He went back and closed the door then came back and told Trish not to bother about the massage, adding that he would do it himself.
"Go get her something to eat,'' he ordered Trish and immediately she turned to leave.
"Don't bother yourself Trisha. I don't think I'm hungry."I declined the offer as I used the pillow on the bed to wedge my back.
"You don't have to be hungry before you eat something you should already know that it is not just you that depends on the food but the baby too." Daniel started preaching a sermon and to show him I was not interested in what he was saying, I closed my eyes yet he kept talking.
Trisha still proceeded to get me food to eat even after I had told her not to bother.
She came back with a plate of fried eggs and toast bread. And as soon as I set my eyes on the plates I rushed the food.
I thought you said you were not hungry. Daniel blasted me but I decided not to listen to what he was saying. I concentrated on the food and I did not lose focus till I emptied the plates.
Trisha handed me a glass of water and then after she took the plates out of the room a few seconds later she came back still carrying the plates in her hand and I asked her if she forgot something but she said no.
"So why are you still holding the plates? You should have gone to drop them first before coming back." I questioned her and then she told me that she came to tell me that she will be going out.
"Where are you going to?'' Daniel asked her immediately she said that she would be leaving the house without even allowing me to say a word.
"I have a date this evening. I promise you it's not going to take so much time, I will be back before you know it." She told us he smiled at her.
"You're free to go on your date Trish just to make sure you don't come back too late." I permitted her to go on a date and Daniel was looking at me like I did something awkward.
"What is it ?Why are you staring at me like that?" I asked Daniel who was still giving me an awkward look.
"Did you just permit her to leave the house? she's supposed to be by your side taking care of you and not out on a date." He said and it sounded as if I had forgotten that Trish was my personal maid and she was supposed to be by my side all the time.
"I know about all of that Daniel, but you see everybody has their life to live and if you stop them from living you might as well stop yourself from living." I tried to make him see why Trish should be allowed to go on her date.
"Come on Daniel, don't be so ridiculous. That girl has done a whole lot for me already this one evening wouldn't hurt." I told him as I pushed his shoulder.
He gave me a weak smile and asked me to give him my legs for a massage. Immediately I stretched out my legs to him and relaxed properly on the bed while he started massaging my leg.
"You're one of the most adorable people I have met in my whole life." I praised him and he couldn't help but giggle. I was also smiling as well.
"You know I was bitter when I left Christopher, I thought I would never be happy again but here I am more happier than I ever thought I would be." I confessed to him and it has been a treat I have kept to myself ever since I came back.
Home is indeed the very best place to be at all times and nothing can equate to the feeling you get at home I thought to myself as I gave him the second leg.
"I want you to also massage my waist." I asked him and he kept his face as though he was disgusted.
"What is wrong with what I just said?"I asked him and he closed his eyes.
"I think it would have been better if you had a career in comedy." Trust me I will support you. I continued and he started laughing uncontrollably.
"Please get out of my bed." I said as I pushed him away but he held onto me.
Moments later he asked me to turn for the massage but I refused not that I didn't need it but I thought about Cherry and how she might feel if she hears that I allowed Daniel to massage my back.
"Has Cherry gone already?" I asked Daniel who held onto my hand I wouldn't let go of it.
"Yes she had left she said she would come back the day after tomorrow." He responded and I closed my eyes.
"What's wrong I hope you are ok?" He asked as he touched my cheeks.
"Yeah I'm fine just having some little pain in my stomach.'' I whispered and he sat properly on the bed and pulled me to his chest.
There is nothing as comforting as resting my head and Daniel's chest and to think he is always available at every point that I need such treatments it's something that baffles me.
"Thank you so much for everything you do for me Daniel." I said underneath my breath I as tears started coming out of my eyes again.
He didn't hear what I said so you did not respond but by the time I lifted my hand to dry the tears that were already falling on my cheek he noticed I was not okay so he pulled away and looked at my face.
"Why are you crying Miriam?'' he asked me in a very concerned voice. I didn't know what was wrong with me. I didn't know why I was crying so I didn't know what to tell him. I just allowed tears to flow freely whereas he pulled me closer again and tried to console me.
"So about my meeting with the council of elders. They said there was something they needed me to do and you are in the best position to intimate me on the progress of things."
I said to Daniel after a long moment of being silent.
"Yeah actually our enemy parks had been threatening us lately. Daniel started and I had to raise up my head and look at his face just so I wouldn't miss any detail of what he was about to say.
"Before you came into the conference room the other day, the council of elders and I were having an argument. Actually, they were trying to force me to sign a document for a peace pact with one of our enemy parks.
"I know the members of that Park too well and I am sure that the documents the council of elders brought to the meeting were fake.
Before you came back I have made over three attempts to make peace with these people or they wouldn't oblige."
"Right now I have decided that I wouldn't follow them softly the way I did the other time since they want war, that's what you are going to give them." He said and I realised that his mood changed immediately.
"I'm so sorry for letting you go through all of this alone. Maybe if I was here long ago I would have known how far this matter would have gotten." I said as I tried to lift his mood but nothing changed.
"What if they really wanted peace? I think we should look at the documents sent by the council of elders again before concluding on war, remember, peace is not easy to come by these days." I continued and Daniel folded his arms.
"There will be no need to look at those documents again. I have looked at them properly and I know they are fake. We are not signing it." He said as he took a deep breath.
"So what do you suggest we do?" Are we just going to proceed on the only option available to us?" I asked him because I really did not know what you were going to do.
I had just come back not too long ago and he had not intimated me on everything that has been going on. He claims he wants me to rest first because of the pregnancy.
"I was thinking of meeting the alpha of their pack first to hear his take on this whole thing before doing anything else. So his response will determine my moves."
Daniel said that that was really a brilliant idea.
"That's a great idea. When are you going to meet with him?" I asked him and he shook his head which suggested that he had not decided on any date yet.
"That's ok just keep me posted on the progress of things and always remember I am here to support you'' I said to him and he smiled.
"So which pack are we actually talking about?'' I asked him but instead of answering me they shut me up with a kiss and laid me properly in bed.
"Goodnight Miriam, have a great one,'' he said and walked out of my room.
After Daniel left I continued staring at the ceiling just as I was doing before I went out.
The whole body irritated me and I wasn't relaxed at all so I decided to go have a hot bath. I was certain that would help calm my nerves.
Immediately I got out of the bathroom I felt more relaxed and as soon as I laid on the bed I slept off.
By the time I woke up the next morning I saw Daniel sitting next to me, his face glowing and his eyes were bright. I was really happy to see him in that mood this morning. It's been a long time since I saw him that happy.
"Tell me who did you dream of last night?" I teased him and he gave me a big smile and hug.
After letting go of me he pulled the bracelet I had handed over to him today and left and wore me.
"I'm glad you're finally back. I am really happy to be doing this today, thank you Miriam." He said to me as he squeezed my hand.
"Thank you to Daniel. I'm really blessed to have you in my life," I said to him as I pulled him for another embrace.
Thereafter I entered the bathroom and freshened up.
I came out of the bathroom and he was still there. I was surprised so I asked him why he hadn't left.
"I don't know, I just laid on your bed and decided to relax." He told me he got up to leave.
"I'll be visiting the hospital today."I told him and he said he was going to drop me.
"Meanwhile, were you awake when Trish came back last night?" I inquired because I've not seen her this morning.
"You told her to take her time so I guess she's probably doing that,'' he said and opened the door.
"You mean she didn't come back last night?" I expressed shock and anger at the same time and he slammed the door and walked out of the room.
I dressed up immediately and ran downstairs. I was in so much hurry that anyone that saw me would think I was going after something.
"Good morning alpha," her voice came from behind me and I stopped immediately to look at her.
"Where have you been all along?" Trish I asked her and she smiled.
"I hope you did not spend the night out of this house." I stated further and walked to the couch and sat down.
"No alpha, I did not stay out last night. I actually came back home but it was quite late so I decided not to bother you." She responded.
"Alright that's okay, please get me something to eat and make sure you get prepared. We are going to the hospital." I instructed her and she left immediately.
Shortly after she left she got me food to eat and by the time I was done, she was ready and we left for the hospital.
While on our way to the hospital we passed the council of elders and it seems like they were going to the house.
"Don't you think we should go back to the house?" I asked Daniel and he said there was no need.
"They would wait for us if they really wanted to see us, and besides they might not be going to the house they should have other things to bother themselves with and not just the administration of the pack." Daniel added.
We got to the hospital and our meeting was quick so we didn't spend much time there.
While on our way back home, Trish said that we had run out of some food stuff so we had to stop by the grocery store to make some purchases.
We got into the grocery store and started doing our shopping and as I looked at the basket in Daniel's hand, I discovered that the only thing he was shopping for was baby items.
"Are you fucking serious right now?" I asked him and he started laughing.
"You know you would need this in no time so there is no need to panic.'' He responded to me and continued picking up every baby item he saw on the shelf.
"You have a problem."I teased him as I walked past him.
By the time we got back home it was as if I was beaten all over my body. I really needed a massage and I had no other option that allowed Daniel to do it.
When he was done Trish administered my drugs to me.
"Did you ask anyone if the council of elders came?" I asked Trish and she said they did not come. I was happy they did not come because I had not recovered from the last meeting.
