Chapter 84

MIRIAM'S POV
After speaking with Christopher and instructed him to start coming I jumped out of bed because I was still in bed when his call came and rushed into the bathroom to freshen up.
I took a few minutes to do that and after getting dressed I sat down at the table and attempted to apply some makeup on my face.
I was really bad at it so no matter the effort I put in it I did not get any good results.
I looked at myself in the mirror and started laughing because I looked like a masquerade.
Sarah went into the bathroom and washed it off.
Seeing that I cannot get the makeup done I gave up on it and concentrated on getting a beautiful dress.
I didn't know why I chose a gown instead of getting a pair of jeans and a singlet.
There was no occasion at all but I was dressing as though there was something serious.
After wearing the beautiful black dress I looked at myself in the mirror and I admired the beauty that I am.
The dress is one of the gifts I received the day I was celebrated. I actually got this one out of the box that Cherry gave me.
She had always complained about my dress sense. I am sure that was what prompted her to get this for me.
I picked a pair of gold heels to compliment it and styled my hair gorgeously.
When I walked down to the living room, Daniel's jaw dropped as he saw me. I was waiting for a compliment from him but that did not come immediately as he was still astonished at the sight before him.
"What is all this for?" He asked me and I was disappointed because I expected him to say something like, you look heavenly.
I looked at him and expressed my disappointment and when I was about to move out of the living room he grabbed my hand and pulled me closer.
"I never knew you were this gorgeous." He whispered as he looked into my eyes as his arms wrapped me up and my breast pressed his chest.
I just kept smiling as that increased my confidence but I was really beautiful even without the makeup.
"Thank you Daniel." I responded as I took myself out of his arms. I needed to do a few things before they arrived so I had to move back to my room and go get some documents from my safe.
Daniel followed me and as we got into the room he told me that we needed some more arms.
"What do we need the arms for, wouldn't the ones we have be okay?" I asked him as I tried to open the safe.
He told me that we need the arms to support the ones available to our armed forces.
We also need some to give to the armed forces that Christopher will be making available in case what they have wouldn't be enough.
"I'm sure Christopher would provide enough arms for his armed forces however if the need arises we would always get some for them." I said to him and he did not disturb me any further about getting more arms.
"I guess you have told them to start coming already?" He asked me and I was surprised that he knew it was not just Christopher that was coming.
"How did you know Christopher is coming with someone else?" I was really curious so I had to ask.
"Remember you asked me to call him." He started and I nodded.
"He said they will be here soon so I guess they are two." He responded as I brought out the papers and dropped them on the bed.
I thought of having a change of clothes as I was not really comfortable in this one but Daniel asked me not to.
He told me I looked very beautiful in them and that it has been a while since he saw me dress like this. Hence I changed my mind and did not remove the clothes.
After putting a few things in place, Daniel literally carried me out of the room to the dining area and made sure I ate a lot of food.
I told him he was feeding me too much and he said I needed the energy.
"I'm done!" I screamed as I stood up from the chair and ran out of the dining room.
He ran after me with a tray in his hand and we ran around the house like children.
When we finished playing he called the cleaner and instructed him to clean up the mess we made.
Thereafter we went back upstairs and continued with the work we were doing.
There was clearly no time to play around as we intend to attack tomorrow.
"Please call the leader of the delegate team that visited us yesterday." I said to him as I handed over my phone to him because I was the one that exchanged contact with the man.
"What do you want me to tell him?" Daniel asked me as he took the phone from my hand.
"Tell him to come over this evening, he should be part of the meeting with Christopher so that he can also relate to the members of his team the resolutions we will make and instruct them on how we would move." I stated and he began to dial the number instantly.
When he got off the phone with the man I told him to call the police chief and also inform him that will be having a meeting.
He did that immediately and the response from both parties was positive.
"Good, so is there anything else we need to do at the moment?" I asked him and he took a while to think about the question.
"I think we should see Ivy's father this evening." He suggested and I felt that there was no need to see him again. He has told us everything we need to know. All we have to do at the moment is to follow his instructions and I am sure we will win.
"I don't think that is necessary, we should just follow the instructions he had already given us, there shouldn't be more to it." I said and he told me he was okay with whatever I wanted.
"Hand me that." I pointed out the pen on the table and he reached for it and gave it to me.
I took the piece of paper I was lying on the floor close to where I was standing and scribbled something on it then handed it over to Daniel.
He looked at the paper I had just handed over to him and he smiled.
"I believe we will," he said with the wide smile still on his face and I smiled back at him.
"Don't you think you should rest a bit?" I said to him and he was obviously surprised I was telling him to rest.
"I sure will, I just need to call Cherry first." he stated and told him to make the call here so that we can both speak to them.
While on the phone with Cherry, the call came in from the police chief for my own phone so I had to excuse myself to take the call.
The police chief assured me that things were already put in place and that they were ready as long as we were ready.
I thanked him immensely as I went back into the room to continue the conversation with Cherry and Trish.
Daniel and I assured them that soon everything will be back to normal and that they will be back home in no time.
Cherry also told us that she was recovering very fast and but for the unrest she should be at home by now taking treatments.
I was really happy when I heard that she was recovering.
That alone was enough to make my day and it also gave me the courage to fight so I can create a comfortable and habitable environment for them.
After that call Daniel told me that he will be in his room resting so he went out of my and I blew him a kiss as he left although he didn't see it.
I returned all the documents to the safe and laid down on the bed to have a nap.
The very second I closed my eyes the door flung open and Daniel came in.
"I thought we agreed that you should be resting." I opened my eyes as he came into the room.
He wasn't looking so good and I wondered what changed in just a few minutes.
"A member of the council of elders has been abducted." He announced and my head began to bang instantly.
"How?" I asked him because that was the only thing that could come out of my mouth.
"The other members are in the living room, they just gave me the information some minutes ago." Daniel responded and I jumped out of the bed at once.
As I tried to run out of the room he grabbed me and I looked at him and for my eyes he heard me asking him why he was holding me.
"You just have to take it easy." He stated and I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself because my heart was beating very fast.
Then he held my hand and we walked out of the room together.
Soon as I got to the living room the elders got up on their feet all at the same time.
"What did you say happened?" I asked them and there was an unusual silence that filled the room for a while.
Nobody could say anything and the expression on their faces only spoke doom. Standing before them I silently prayed that they do not kill him because I was certain I would get him out of captivity.
"He was abducted from his house this morning. And from the notes we received his abductors are the rebels." One of the elders said and I asked them to take a seat. They all sat down and everybody began to complain. I took some time to listen to all they had to say. I even instructed Daniel to take note of every issue raised so that we can know how to handle it after we are done with this one.
I assured them that so long as the rebels do not kill him I will get him out of captivity.
I also intimated them on the plans I had already put in place to get at the rebels.
For the first time the council of elders you're pleased with what I was doing and they encouraged me to keep it up.
I thanked them and they got up to leave. Daniel saw them off while I went back into my room. I felt so devastated and empty. I wasn't happy with all of these what's happening right before me and I could not save the situation.
As I lay down on my bed I began to cry. The news of that abduction weakend me to the point that I could not even stand up. Daniel came into the room and saw me crying, he raised me up and pulled me to his chest and consoled me.
Although I could not find the solace that I needed, I told myself that I needed to be strong so I had to put myself together.
"I need to be alone." I told you Daniel as I pulled out of his arms and squeezed my pillow underneath me.
"Are you sure you will be okay?" He asked me and I told him I will be fine so he got up to leave.
"Please don't fail to inform me when it's time for the meeting." I said to him and he assured me that he would before walking out.
I tried my best not to cry again and I forced myself to sleep. At least if I sleep for a while I will feel much better when I wake up so I won't vomit during the meeting.
I'm not sure of how long I slept because I did not sleep immediately after Daniel left, but hours later he came to inform me that the leader of the delegates team and Christopher, accompanied by his beta, had arrived. So it was just the police chief that we were waiting for.
"That's fine I will be down soon." I told him as I laid back in the bed and closed my eyes again.
"How soon?" He asked me and with my eyes still closed I told him to inform me when the police chief arrives. I plan to come out when everyone to whom notice has been given with respect to the meeting has arrived.
With that instruction he walked out of the room. I forgot to tell him to entertain them properly so I had to call him and tell him to provide everything they need for them.
It took about thirty minutes again before he came back to inform me that the police chief was here. I had earlier planned to change into something else but I guess the news I got affected me so badly that I didn't think of it anymore.
I just got down from the bed and slid my legs into the slippers I had beside my bed and walked out of the room.
As at the time I met them, everyone had finished eating and they were all eagerly waiting for me.
They all stood up on their feet as soon as I walked in and I beckoned them to sit down with my hands and they did.
Immediately I started addressing them. When I was done with a very short speech I made I asked for their opinions and contributions.
One after the other they gave some good opinions and I really appreciated it.
As usual Daniel took note of the suggestions, and together we incorporated them in the plan we had already made.
I put the plan before them and everyone took a look at it.
They were all satisfied with it although they made some new suggestions and it was amended to that effect.
Now that we had an agreement and a working plan, we agreed we would strike tomorrow. We would leave by 9 p.m. so that at exactly midnight we would strike.
The meeting point was discussed, and everyone was expected to get there before 9 p.m. because by that time we should be on our way to the rebels camp.
After the meeting everyone left except Christopher and Micheal. I used that time to exchange pleasantries with Michael while Christopher spent some time talking to Daniel.
When I finished with Michael and Christopher was done with Daniel, Chris walked up to me.
He stood beside me for a while but said nothing.
"See you tomorrow." I said just to dismiss him.
"You are beautiful." He complimented me and I smiled. Then I remembered he had been looking lustfully at me all through the meeting.
"Good day, Chris." I said as I walked up stairs and Daniel saw them off.
