Chapter 63

CHRISTOPHER'S POV
Having left Louise in Emily's care, I ran up to my room to think of what to do at the moment because I was utterly confused. If I had been told that things would turn out like this, nothing would have made me let go of Miriam.
I didn't even think of all these. I thought it was all over after she left, little did I know that something like this would still come up.
While I sat there thinking of what to do, the thought of bringing back Miriam flashed through my mind but I discarded it because Miriam's pride would never let her come back.
And I have a commitment with Louise at the moment and I cannot back out now.
My heart was racing as I walked around my room hitting my head with my palm beckoning on it to think.
While in that confusion, I heard a knock on the door and I felt like strangling the person at the door already even without seeing who it was.
"Who the hell is hitting that door?" I roared in the most fierce voice and I guess the person became scared because he or she did not say a word to me.
I waited for a response from whoever was standing at the door but none came. So I had to go to the door to check who it was and I found no one.
So I had to go downstairs to ask Emily and Louise if they knew who was knocking on my door.
They were still in the same position I left them.
"Does anyone have an idea of who was knocking on my door?" I shouted just so they could hear me as I was still standing on the stairs.
"It was one of the servants, we asked him to go call so you could interview the people outside." Emily responded and I wondered who the people she was talking about were.
"Who are these people you are talking about? I don't remember inviting anyone here." I said to her just to get clarity on what she was saying.
"I made a publication stating that you need a beta, so they have come to apply." She responded and it became clearer now.
"I don't need a beta for now at least not anyone from outside. I have spoken to the council of elders about this issue and we have all agreed that you will take the place of my beta until I get one." I responded and started going back to my room.
"So what is going to happen to the people that have come in honour of the invitation I put out?" Emily asked and I had to stop to give her a response.
"Well, I did not invite them." I said to her and continued moving but this lady would not let me be.
"So what is going to happen now?" She kept on pestering me and I just felt like lashing out on her.
"Someone is going to tell them to leave and I don't care who that is." I said dismissing her and increased my pace.
I didn't know what she was going to do with them and I really did not care at the moment. I had a whole lot going on in my head already and I needed to sort them out.
After spending a few minutes in my room I decided to come back to meet them. Maybe we could join heads together and see how we can put things right.
I got to the living room and it was just Louise sitting there still crying.
"You just have to stop crying, okay? Crying is not going to solve the issue. The best you can do right now is to think about what we can do to remedy the situation we have at hand." I said to her in a bid to encourage her and also make her stop crying.
She used the tissue she had beside her to clean her face.
Although she was still looking horrible, Louise never looks good when she's crying. I know no one does but, hers seems to be worse.
"Where is Emily?" I asked her since I did not meet Emily in the living room with her.
"She had gone to dismiss the people outside." She responded with a cracked voice and I wondered if it was just the little tears she shed moments ago that cracked her voice.
"That's okay I think we would have to wait for her." I stated as I rested my head on the couch.
"Wait for her for what exactly?" She asked me and I told her that I had come down so that we can think of possible ways to get Miriam so that we can commence the divorce process immediately.
"Do you know where she might be at the moment?" She asked me, looking worried and panicked at the same time.
"Hey, you really have to calm down. I do not know where Miriam is at the moment but I am sure that I will find her and make her sign the divorce papers." I assured Louisa who was already panicking.
"If you say so, then it's fine." She muttered and closed her eyes.
The thought of all this divorce process did not cross my mind earlier because if it had I should have informed my lawyer a long time ago. Probably a few days after Miriam left, that way it would have been easier to locate her.
Although it is not different right now all I have to do is to get her location, address the letters to her and make sure she signs it.
While I was still brainstorming, Emily walked in looking exhausted and I wondered if it was just telling people to leave that made her this tired.
I didn't bother to ask her how it went, she was the one that made the mess and it was only proper that she cleans it up.
After allowing her to settle down I had to tell her and Louise what had brought me back.
"I came back so that we can put heads together and think of the possible ways to get Miriam and make sure she has this divorce properly done." I began and Emily started shaking her head in affirmation.
"The only issue I have here is that I don't know Miriam's whereabouts so there is no way I can possibly locate her easily." I continued and before I could say anything else Emily interrupted me.
"How is it possible that you don't know her whereabouts? Where did you meet her?" She asked me at the same time and I did not know what response to give to her.
It's obvious that Miriam is in nowhere close to the blood moon pack and this is where I had met her.
"Well that's a story for another day and I'm not ready to venture into it. The most important thing we need to discuss right now is how we can find her and make sure she signs the divorce papers." I took up from where I stopped and tried to make them see what was on my mind.
"You know Christopher it is possible that we can find Miriam and she might refuse to sign the divorce papers just to get back at you." Emily said something that hit me and I tried to understand what she meant.
"What do you mean she might refuse to sign the divorce papers just to get back at me?" I asked her so that I could be clear on the point she was making.
"I'm saying that Miriam is so stubborn that she might decide not to sign the papers just to make sure your marriage with Louise does not hold." She explained.
"Yes I know that Miriam can be very stubborn at times but there is no way she would tell me she would not sign the divorce papers. All I have to do is to find her." I defended her and they were both taken aback by the response I gave to them.
"You really loved this woman didn't you?" Emily asked me and I smiled because she of all persons knew I loved Miriam.
"You know the answer to this question already so can we just forget about this and I move on with the things we have at hand?" I tried to distract her but she wouldn't budge.
"So why did you let her go?" She inquired further and it seems like she was trying to make me look bad before Louise.
"I'm sure you were there the day that incident happened, Miriam left by herself. I never asked her to go." I simply responded to her question and stood up and moved to the wine bar.
I got to the bar, took a bottle of alcohol and a glass and started pouring the content of the bottle in the glass I was holding.
Louise asked me to get her a glass too, so I grabbed a glass I walked back to the living room to meet them.
"Here," I handed the glass over to Louise and helped her pour the drink into it.
She gulped it down immediately and requested for another one but I refused to give it to her no matter how much she begged for it.
"I would appreciate it if you both stop drinking and concentrate on what we are talking about." Emily scolded us for drinking but we did not even mind her.
That even prompted me to pour another glass for Louise.
"I think the best thing to do is to find her and kill her. Killing her would solve the whole problem instantly because you would not have to go through the rigorous process of getting a divorce." Emily suggested and both Louise and I dropped our jaws in shock.
"Emily!" Louise and I exclaimed at the same time as though we had planned it. This was a shocking revelation about the kind of sister I had.
If someone had told me that Emily would suggest that we kill someone I would not believe it.
"I had always knew you are a bad person but I never thought you were this deadly." Louise said to Emily and both of them got into a banter immediately.
I decided to allow them fight. Not because I was happy that they were fighting but at least it gave me a moment to think.
When the whole house became too noisy as a result of their quarrel and fight I had to scream that they stopped but they wouldn't so I had to step outside.
While I was standing outside I was told you that I had a guest and I asked them to let the person in.
To my surprise it was Mr James and I became more annoyed the moment I set eyes on him.
"What the hell are you doing in my house? I thought I had made it clear to you that I don't want to have any business with you?" I attacked him immediately he got into the compound.
"There is no need to fight my friend. I have just come to enquire if you have thought about my offer and considered it." He said quietly as he kept walking closer to me.
"I would advise you to stop there." I said to him when he got to a close proximity to me. I might pull out everything and land it on him if he comes any closer.
And just as I told him he stopped at the spot and took his glasses off his eyes.
"Giving something a try wouldn't hurt." He stated as he began to walk closer again.
I didn't want to get into a fight with him, neither do I want to stand here and have a conversation with him. So I had to move away so I went straight inside the house and locked the door behind me.
He knocked on the door for a while but there was no response and he probably left when he was tired of knocking.
Emily tried to ask me who was that but I shut her up and told her it was none of her business.
Thereafter she continued her banter with Louise and I went straight to the wine bar and watched them from that distance.
After a while, they stopped shouting at each other and sat down together as though nothing had happened.
Emily then called me to come back to the living room adding that they were done and were ready to talk now.
But it turned out that I was no longer interested in whatever conversation they wanted to have.
I was trying to figure out things by myself. And to think that I had already bought the idea Emily gave earlier about killing Miriam to facilitate the process is something I really don't want to talk about.
After being pestered by Emily and Louise to join them in the living room I had no choice but to walk down there to meet them.
"I think we have to put up a notice." Louise stated without saying anything further.
"What kind of notice are you talking about?" Emily asked her immediately after we have waited for a while for her to explain what she meant.
"I feel we should put up a notice accompanied with a price for anyone that can tell us where we can find Miriam." She explained and stood up on her feet.
"I feel that's the only way we can actually get to her. There will definitely be people who should know where she is and with the price attached to it, the search will begin. And anyone with useful information will be ready to tell us where we can find her." She continued.
"I think that's a great idea and a start too. But to be honest once we find her the only thing we are going to do is to kill her." I said and Louise and Emily were surprised.
"I know you did not expect this from me. I did not also expect it from myself. But after giving what Emily said a thought, I felt that Miriam mighty decided not to sign the papers so the best thing is to eliminate her.
That way our marriage will be terminated because one of the parties is dead." I explained further and Emily said nothing nothing but nodded affirmatively, supporting everything I had to say.
Louise on the other hand could not even say a word. I wondered why she was dumbfounded but I decided not to disturb myself with that. I had to do what I had to do.
Emily and I agreed that was what we are going to do and the first step we were going to take is to put out the notice so we could at least know where she is.
Louise did not agree with us on the part of killing Miriam.
"I thought you never liked her. Why are you concerned about her well being?" Emily asked Louise who had already stood up to leave us seeing that our minds were already made up.
"I know I never liked Miriam but I don't think I hate her up to the extent of wanting her dead. If you're both going to kill her that's fine, but know that I am not part of this, neither am I in support of it." She said and walked away in a haste.
Emily and I continued our plan and we drafted how would go about the whole thing. Suddenly Louise came back again and I wondered why she was back although I did not bother asking her.
"What do you want? I thought you had made it clear that you don't want to be a part of what we are doing." Emily asked her because she just stood in front of us without saying anything.
"Chris, I would love to have a word with you when you are done." She said after a moment of silence even after Emily had asked her what she was doing here.
"Meet me in my room in twenty minutes time." I instructed her and she walked out again.
"Please ignore Louise, she's only being stupid." Emily said to me and drew my attention from Louise whom I was watching as she climbed the stairs.
"That's not a problem I know how to handle her, she will definitely join us at the end of the day." I told Emily as I stood up to leave.
"It's not like she has a choice." Emily added and walked after me. I chuckled and she started laughing.
"I will put out the notice." She stated and when I turned to look at her, I saw the seriousness on her face. It then dawned on me that this lady actually meant business.
"I will still inform my lawyer that I need to begin a divorce process." I informed her because that was what came to my mind.
"That's not a bad idea at least it would not raise any brows." She commended me and walked past me to her room.
I wanted to stop by at Louise's room just to hear what she had to say but I remembered I had told her to meet me in twenty minutes. And I am sure she would not be late. So I moved to my room to rest for the next fifteen minutes before she comes in.
As soon as I laid down on the bed and closed my eyes, I heard a knock on the door. As I opened my eyes to ask who it was, I saw that Miriam's picture that I have been trying so hard to get out of my room.
I had not seen it for a while but it was back now. I had developed some kind of confidence already and I was no longer scared of it. So I ignored it and went to get the door.
