Chapter 42

CHRISTOPHER'S POV
I went into my room and laid down for a while waiting for Louise to come back from wherever she went. Then I heard a knock on the door as I opened up I found out that it was Emily.
"Do you mind having dinner with us?" She asked me as she opened the door halfway and peeped through without even coming inside the room.
"Just tell me when it's time to have dinner and I'll be downstairs." I responded as I laid back in my bed. I kept thinking about everything that I saw in the cave and all that happened.
The one that bothered me most is the changes I saw in the living room. I was not sure of what was happening. I really needed to know why those changes were made.
Instead of Louise to calm down and tell me what was going on she resorted to shouting at me.
Anyways it wasn't her fault I was the one who made myself so available and also stooped so low.
I mean if I had not given her the opportunity to meddle with me she wouldn't have ever done that.
I laid on the bed thinking about my whole life and how I'm going to start all over again because it seems that's what I'm going to do now.
Everything seems to be crashing in my hands, everything seems to be falling apart. I have tried all I could to put them together but my best was clearly not enough.
I admitted to myself I needed help at this point in time.
But the annoying thing about this whole situation is that I really don't know where to get this help from.
Emily has never been in any administrative position before, so I am definitely sure she wouldn't be able to handle anything for now. Not until I'm able to put her through the whole process.
Louise on the other hand is hell-bent on being Luna again and the funny thing is that she's only interested in the title and nothing else. So what kind of help can I ever get from someone like this?
Michael who was supposed to be my better and also my supporter has been acting strangely these days. I can't tell what is wrong with him but I am sure that I will figure it out soon enough.
I felt that there is a conspiracy,although I am yet to unravel the mystery.
I remember Emily warning me some time ago to watch my back.She also told me that she was watching my back too. It looks like everything will be clear soon and I will know what is going on.
The only problem I had at the moment is that Emily has not been talking to me, she has not told me anything and I really need this information badly.
Michael has been acting as if I owe him something and the truth is that he has not mentioned anything to me. Thus I cannot hold myself responsible for anything that will become of him.
He left the conference meeting the other day angrily and has not come back up to this moment. I cannot really think of anywhere that he could be because he hardly goes out. I don't even know his friends, that's if he has any anyway.
"From the look of things I don't think you should be here thinking about Michael." My wolf said to me and I was angry that he kept scolding me without telling me what to do to salvage the situation.
"Please stop reminding me about my problems, if you can't help me solve them." I said angrily to my wolf and I felt his reaction within me.
I decided not to bother myself about whatever it was that he was doing,I had something to achieve and I must concentrate on getting it done.
I left my room and walked to the conference room, it was actually empty and there was absolutely nothing I was going there to do. I just kept pacing from one corner to another.
I walked around the table and I was looking at the chairs as though I had dropped something on them.
Then I heard a knock on the door and I wondered who it must be.
At first I refused to answer the door because I felt no one saw me walk in here, but when the knock became persistent I had to go open the door to check who it was.
When I opened the door I saw Louise standing outside the door.
"What are you doing here?" I queried her immediately I saw her but she didn't say anything then she walked past me and entered the conference room.
She wanted to sit on one of the chairs there and as though I read her mind,I stopped her before she could.
"You don't just come in here and mess around with things. Luisa you of all people know that this place is sacred. This is where law is made and you should know better than disrespecting the sanctity of this place at all times." I scolded her but instead of being remorseful she gave me a sarcastic laughter.
Thereafter she walked out of the room telling me that dinner was ready.
I wanted to tell her I was not interested in the food but immediately my stomach began to rumble and I had no other choice than to walk after her.
By the time I got to the dining room Emily was already seated. As a matter of fact she had already started eating her food. I said HI to her as I sat down and Louise dished my food for me.
"Thank you." I said to her she handed me the plate and I placed it on the table mat and pounced on the food immediately.
While we were eating everyone was quiet but later on Emily and Louise and started chatting. I decided not to listen to whatever they were saying so I concentrated on the food I was eating.
In a bid to draw my attention Emily spoke out loud.
"I have an announcement," she chorused and my mind began to travel in search of what she wanted to say.
"We are all ears please tell us."Louise said to her but instead of saying anything she kept giggling like a baby.
"Could you please stop your giggling and talk to us?" I spoke to her but she wouldn't listen to me. She continued doing what she was doing and even started using her fork to beat the glass.
"This is supposed to be dinner and not a music concert." I reminded her because I was already very much irritated with what she was doing.
"You are just too serious brother, why don't you just take a break for a while and relax, you are always straight." She attacked me and I decided to ignore her.
"Anyways like I said earlier I have an announcement to make and I will do that when Michael comes back." She said and Louise gave her a stern look.
"What is this thing you have with Michael?" I asked her because first of all I was not comfortable with her being too close to him. Secondly, he is my beta and if there's anyone he should be close to, it should be me and not Emily.
I know she is free to fall in love with whoever she wishes to fall in love with but I wished it was not Micheal.
"Speaking of Michael, I think he is in his room right now." Louise stated as she continued eating her food.
"Are you sure about what you are saying?"Emily questioned her and she nodded affirmatively.
"I actually opened the door for him when he came home, so yes I know what I am saying." Louise added as she dropped her fork and reached for the glass of water.
Moments later Michael came down from his room and walked past us like he did not see us.
"Talk of the devil." Louisa stated as Michael opened the door and dashed out of the living room.
"I can't believe Michael came into this house without even looking for me." Emily stated and I felt an atom of regret in her voice.
"I just hope this is not a regret." I confronted her immediately because of her outburst and she smiled and said it was nothing. She was only concerned because she had been calling him and he had not picked his phone all along.
She stood up and moved to the kitchen but I called her back to help me do something.
"Please help me call anyone you see in there." I said to her and she gave me a thumbs up and continued walking to the kitchen.
Within seconds one of the servant came to me at the table
"Yes alpha you called me." He said as soon as he got to the dining room.
"Please help me call Michael, he just walked out of the living room." I instructed him and he bowed and ran off immediately.
"What do you want to do with him? Why don't you let him be?" Louise said to me and I gave it a quick thought but at the end of the day I realised that she will not understand. There is more to my relationship with Michael and if it's going to turn sour I think we would have to get things right first of all before doing any thing stupid.
"Don't worry Louise I have all it takes to handle Michael and I will put him in his place." I assured her as I squeezed her hand.
The servant walked in not long after that and told us that Michael was on his way here.
Michael was actually behind him because he walked in almost immediately after the servant finished delivering his message.
"Good evening alpha." He greeted me so formally and I acted as though I did not notice what he was doing.
I invited him to join us for dinner but he refused so I had to let him go.
After eating I went into my room to sort out a few things.
By the time I was done I decided to come down and take a walk around the house. It was also on my mind to admire the changes that Louise had made in as much as I still don't know why she did that, and I did not appreciate her.
When I got down I saw Emily sleeping on Michael's body so I carried her to her room and laid her down.
I came back, had a little chit chat with Michael and informed him of the council of elders meeting that was coming up soon and then I went back upstairs.
The night was very long for me. I kept waking up at intervals and looking at the clock but it was nowhere close to dawn.
I tried to put myself to sleep after I woke up the fifth time. It wasn't really easy since I have been sleeping for a very long time before now or will I say I was dead.
When I finally slept off I prayed never to have the kind of dream that would wake me up in the middle of the night again because I might not be able to find sleep anymore.
While in my sleep, I felt somebody breathing beside me and that was what woke me up. I opened my eyes and I saw Louise lying down on the bed beside me.
"How many times have I told her not to spend the night in my room? This lady would have me do what I'm not supposed to do to her." I thought to myself as I watched her sleeping sound like a baby.
I looked at the window and I realised that it was morning already. It gladdened my heart and I was actually happy it was dawn.
I woke her up and asked her to leave my room immediately but she would not oblige so I left her in the bed and headed to the bathroom to freshen up and dashed out of the room.
I sat down in the living room for a while without anybody coming out of their rooms. I was beginning to feel concerned about the fact that none of them had woken up till now.
So I decided to go wake them up by myself and one after the other I went to everybody's room and screamed in their ears just so they would wake up.
Having done that, I went back downstairs and ordered the servants to make breakfast.
I also remembered that Louise told me last night that I had an appointment with the doctor today.
I didn't want the doctor to come to the house any longer so I decided I was going to see him in the hospital.
I thought of going with Michael, later I changed my mind and decided I was going to go by myself. "There is no need to hang around someone who is capable of killing you." I thought to myself as I waited patiently for the servant to come tell me that breakfast is ready.
Without wasting much of my time, the servant I had told to prepare the meal walked into the living room and announced that the food was lying on the dining table waiting for me.
So I got up immediately and went to the table to eat.
"It seems all you have been doing lately is to eat and sleep." My wolf mocked me and truly I have been doing nothing but eating and sleeping.
I lost my appetite immediately and I walked out of the table.
As soon as I got back into the living room I saw Louise walk down with my drugs in her hand.
"I hope you have eaten so that you can take these." She said as she flagged the drug before me.
I had no other choice than to go back to the meal and finish it.
After taking the drug I walked upstairs to my room, grabbed my car keys and was already on my way out of the house.
"Where are you going?" Emily asked me as soon as my hand reached for the door.
"I have an appointment with the doctor and I want to go see him now." I responded as I opened the door and walked out.
Emily ran after me and met me in the car. I already started the engine and the thought of not giving her the opportunity to speak to me came to my mind but I ignored it and opened the window.
"What is it Emily? Can't we talk when I get back?" I asked her in a very frustrated tone.
"No it can't wait, it's the announcement I told you about earlier. That's what I want to make now so it's better you come in with me." She insisted and since I was very much interested in whatever she had to see I had to come down from the car and follow her inside.
We got back to the living room and it was empty.
"I think everyone has one thing or the other to do this morning. Why don't you just postpone this meeting until evening then we would have all the time to talk about it." I suggested it to her but she insisted I sit down.
Running out of options I had to sit down and wait for the others to join in.
