Chapter 74

CHRISTOPHER'S POV
"Ahhhh, I stretched my body and also tried to stand up. I stood up on my feet but I could not feel my legs. That was because I have been sitting here for what seems like forever.
"I need to freshen up, I have a long day ahead of me." I said to Micheal as I walked out of the office leaving him there alone.
"Good morning , alpha." Emily greeted me and I turned back to look at her and her face was filled with disappointment.
"What is it Emily?" I held her chin up and stared into her eyes. It also looks like she didn't sleep throughout the night.
"What are you doing to yourself?" I asked her again and he shoved my hand off her body.
"This is not a good time for me. But I will be fine." She responded and moved away. I began to feel guilty for her mood. She would not be in this mood if I didn't tell Micheal to come back. But she really has to understand that I am doing this for our good. The aim is to use him to accomplish some good feats and dispose of his dumb ass later.
I shook my head and continued to my room.
As soon as I got in, I had not even walked to the bed when I heard a knock on my door.
"Please come in." I said and Micheal walked in. I actually thought it would be Louise.
"I just left you minutes ago, why are you here?" I made him know that I wasn't pleased to see him at this time.
"You talked about having a busy day, is there anything you will want me to help you do?" He asked as he rubbed his hands together.
"It's nothing I cannot handle. You take a break and relax, besides you just got here." I discharged him and he closed the door behind him because he stood at the door.
I went into the bathroom to freshen up and before I got out, I already had breakfast waiting for me in the bed.
I dressed up hurriedly and rushed to the food. The moment I finished eating, I laid down in bed and dozed off.
I slept like I have never done before, it was as though I forgot I wanted to go out.
As though someone tapped me, I jumped up from the bed and looked at the wall clock and it was almost noon.
I relaxed as I still have some time. After scrolling through my phone for a while, I decided to move out.
As I got outside, the elders were approaching from the gate and I was shocked as there was no reason for them to be here again.
"Why are you all here?" I asked them as I made my way to my car. I did not know Micheal was coming behind me.
"Why is he here?" One of them pointed and as I turned, there was Micheal standing behind me.
"I am sure you all have better things to do with your lifes than stress out yourselves with trivial issues like this." I opened my car and drove out not minding how they would take what I just said.
Micheal knows how to handle them and I don't care if he tries to buy their favour this time again.
I am actually on my way to the silver moon pack. I need to find Miriam and make her agree to sign the divorce papers when I get them across to her or kill her. Either way, I must put an end to this nonsense tie we still have all in the name of marriage.
While on my way, I thought of stopping by at Mr James place to have a word with him so I took the diversion leading to his house and sped off.
When I got to his house, he let out a mischievous smile as he set eyes on me and I smiled too making him feel comfortable.
"Have you thought through my offer?" He asked and I continued smiling.
"I am not here to accept your offer. I am here to tell you that there is no way you are going to creep into my administration and ruin everything I have worked hard for." I shouted at him but he remained calm.
" I am sure the pressure on you is much, well, let's see if you will live to see the end." He threatened and before I could get a hold of myself, I had pushed him to the ground.
He sat up and spat on the ground and he was already bleeding.
I ran to my car immediately and drove off before he was able to stand up.
I actually regretted hitting him this time and I wished I could go back to apologise but I could not.
I started heading to the silver moon pack but I was disturbed because I didn't know where exactly to find Miriam.
I opened my phone and searched for her picture but I could not find any. This amazed me because I don't remember deleting any of it.
My phone rang immediately as I was still scrolling through it. It was Micheal so I picked it up.
"Hey," I said as I took the call.
"Where are you?" He asked.
"I told you I have some businesses to run and it doesn't concern you in any way." I spoke harshly to him and hung up immediately. As I dropped the phone, I bent down and almost hit another car coming towards me because I missed my lane.
Luckily, I was able to control it and dodged it.
I pulled by the side of the road and parked. I had to breathe.
After spending a few minutes, I started the engine and sped off. I felt like going back but then I became optimistic that I will achieve my aim so I continued on the journey.
When I got to my destination, since I didn't know where exactly to find Miriam, I thought of going to see the omega alpha first and proceed with my search in the night .
I drove for a few minutes without seeing even a single soul on the road. I was beginning to get troubled as something like this will hardly happen in the blood moon pack.
Moving a bit further, I met a group of men about to enter a building. That was the most magnificent building I have seen since I got here. I parked my car immediately, jumped out and ran to them before they were granted access into the building.
"Good day." I greeted them but they all looked disturbed and no one bothered to even look at my face. I was embarrassed and all that came to my mind was going back to where I came from but I had come too far already and so I must not miss out on what I came to do.
"Please I am here to see the alpha of the silver moon pack." I clearly stated my intention hoping that will make them listen to me but they didn't.
I just stood by observing all they were doing. Finally, someone that looked like the gateman came out of the building and stood before the men.
"Open the gate for us, we are here to see the alpha." One of the men stated and I became assured that my standing here was not actually in vain.
"The alpha is not in, you could check back some other time. " The gateman politely answered them and turned back to go into the building when one of the men pulled him back.
"Aren't you aware that we could go in there to wait for her?" The man who pulled the gateman said and the only thing I heard from his statement is her.
"Did he just say, her?" I said under my breath as I could even barely hear myself so I was sure they didn't hear me.
"From the look of things, the alpha has gone out for war and may not return until all of these are over." The gateman added and every single person started shaking their head in a manner that suggests that they were expressing regret.
"Who did she go with?" Another man asked and the gateman promptly replied that she went with her beta alone.
"What does she think she can achieve alone?" The same man stated and they all turned back to leave. I also thought of leaving too and I must confess, I was disappointed.
"Can I wait, she may decide to come back." I said to the gateman who was probably waiting for me to leave too.
"No you can't. No one knows when she will return." He stated and with that, he pushed the gate without stress and walked in through it, locking it behind him.
I looked at the closed gate and hit my forehead with my palm.
"Damn it." I was disappointed and began to feel frustrated. I had no choice but to leave, so I opened the car and hopped in. I hit the steering several times before starting the engine.
Then I decided to call Michael and ask him where he saw Miriam so I could begin my search from there.
"Hey, could you please tell me the exact place you saw Miriam? I really need to find her." I told him and I felt his voice lighten up . Maybe he thinks I am going to get Miriam back.
"At the coffee shop." He said and I hung up immediately. I didn't ask him for a proper description so I had to come down from the car and knock on the gate again. Graciously, the gateman came out again and gave me a detailed description when I asked him. I thanked him and left. As I drove off many thoughts ran through my mind. The one that occupied it most was the fact that the most feared and dreadful Omega alpha is a woman.
I started imagining what she looks like and how charismatic she must be.
While driving to the coffee shop with the description given to me by the gateman, my phone rang. I didn't bother to check who it was because I felt it was Micheal and I didn't want any form of disturbance from him. But when the phone wouldn't stop ringing, I had to look at it and saw it was Louise.
"Hello," I said as I picked the call.
"Where the hell are you, Chris?" She started and for a moment, I pulled the phone from my ear to be sure it is Louise talking to me in that manner.
"What do you mean?" I retorted and she started lamenting that I left without letting her know.
"It was an emergency." I said softly as I badly wanted to end the call.
"Our plan cannot be termed an emergency. We planned this together and the best you should have done is to tell us how you intend going about it." Louise shouted and hung up the phone.
*************
MICHEAL'S POV
I was so happy when Chris called to ask me after Miriam. I didn't know where the happiness was coming from but I felt that he was back to his senses and had gone in search of her.
Seeing me express so much joy, Louise asked me what the matter was and I told her.
After I told Louise that Chris had gone to the silver moon pack where I saw Miriam to look for her, the sad look I saw on her face was something I could not explain. I tried to ask her but she refused to open up to me.
Then she picked up her phone immediately and started dialling a number on it. It was when she started talking to the person that I realised it was Christopher she was talking to.
I listened carefully to the conversation Louise was having with Chris because she was talking at the top of her voice. Although I didn't hear what Chris said on the other side.
When she finished, I ran to her to ask her what was going on. She expressed her displeasure with Chris over the phone stating that he went ahead with a plan they all had without informing them. I really wanted to know what this plan was.
"Louise, could you please tell me what this plan is? I am now a part of you and I deserve to know." I blocked her at the staircase as she was about to move upstairs.
"I will advise you to stay away from me and mind your business in this house. You are nothing but an intruder. I really don't know what you said to Chris to convince him to bring you back." She lavished insults on me and also heaved a sigh before leaving. I felt like hitting her since I could do nothing else but I was raised better.
She was the same person that put me in this mess. She had advise me to do what I did to Chris and I was so stupid to adhere to her counsel. Who knows what she must have advised Chris to do to Miriam? I worried over all these things as I stood at the spot she pushed me to when she was ready to pass.
"I think I need to call Miriam." I mumbled as I walked out of the building. I didn't want anyone else to hear my conversation with her so I told the gateman that I needed to stroll a bit. He opened the gate for me and advised me to return on time because of the security issue we are facing now from the rebels.
I thanked him and walked out swiftly.
On reaching quite a distance, I took my phone out of my pocket and started dialling Miriam's number. She had given me her contact the day we met at the coffee shop.
The phone kept ringing and ringing but she wouldn't take my calls. I was scared that she was not safe, so I had to call Christopher to know if he had seen her.
He picked up the first ring and I asked him if he had seen her already. He said he hasn't but he is waiting at the coffee shop, peradventure she comes in. He also asked if I knew where she lives and also requested for her contact.
I genuinely did not know where she lives but I told him I didn't have her contact. I was scared he was out to hurt her and nothing else.
Since Miriam was not taking her calls, I started walking back to the house. I have tried my best, if anything happens to her she should have herself to blame.
On my way back, my phone rang. It was Chris, he called to inform me that he will spend the night at the silver moon pack as he needs to see their alpha tomorrow morning.
"You could still go there tomorrow." I tried to dissuade him from spending the night there but that was what he wanted to do and was already at it.
"That's fine, just be safe. The heat is hard on the silver moon pack." I told him because there, no one is seen careless around. They are trying to prevent human casualties at all costs. Their aim according to the sources I gathered my information from is to make sure that only the military and military objects are attacked.
I was already close to the house when a call came into my phone again. I thought it was Chris again so without checking, I decided not to pick. Then it came again and I had to pick it up. It was Miriam, I was so happy that she called back so I hurriedly picked it up.
"Hey Miriam." I said as the phone got to my ear. She said something but I could not hear her as her voice was incredibly low.
"Could you please speak up?" I told her but instead of saying anything she hung up the phone. I was shocked and afraid at the same time. She might be in danger. I looked at the phone in my hand not knowing what to do. While my eyes were still fixed on the screen, a message came in from Miriam. She said I should text her.
I quickly typed a message, telling her that Christopher is in the silver moon pack looking for her and that she should be careful.
She instantly replied, thanking me for the information.
At this time, I was already at the gate and the door was opened for me the moment I stood in front of it. I waved to the gateman and walked inside.
As I entered the living room, there was Emily sitting on a stool applying makeup on her face. I was surprised she was wearing makeup by this time but that didn't matter.
She is the only one I haven't set eyes on since I came back. I was glad to finally see her although I did not know how I would face her.
The only thing that came to my mind was to kneel before her and apologise. So I fell on my knees as I walked close to her.
"What's this all about?" She asked while making gestures alongside.
"I am sorry Emily, it wasn't intentional. I was actually put to it." I started.
"What exactly were you put to?" Louise who was walking down the stairs chipped in as she must have heard what I said.
"I don't have time for this." Emily stated as she packed her makeup kit in her hand and walked away.
Louise started laughing sarcastically at me and I have never been this embarrassed.
I stayed on my knees for only God knows how long as I was too ashamed to even stand up. When I finally did, I walked to my room and never came out until morning.
