Chapter 121
Paul was preparing to go to bed when his phone rang. He picked up the phone and looked at the caller ID. He could not believe it.
Could this be a prank? He pressed the answer button and said in a feeble voice, "Joanna?" It was more of a question.
A cheerful voice from the other end answered. "Did you miss me?"
Paul was stunned. He would recognize that voice anytime and any day. Joanna....Joanna is finally falling him? He had tried this number endlessly for the past three months! It always said that it was out of service! How is she contacting him?
Paul was stuck between a weird shock and happiness. What really is going on here? How has Joanna been all this time? Why is she suddenly contacting him right now?
"You ...Joanna....is this you?" He asked her. He had to be sure. What if this is some sort of a prank? What if someone was messing with him on purpose? The voice was Joanna's voice but he knew that there was a way to imitate people's voices. Is this really Joanna? How come she disappears and reappears whenever she wants.
"Of course it's me! Have I been home for too long that you've forgotten my voice?" Joanna asked.
On the other side, the firMst thing that Joanna did once she felt better, she fixed her phone that Julia had kept for her from the accident site. Since she had a lot of things on that phone that she did not want to lose, she fixed it. And the first person that she called was Paul. if she is going to come back with a new identity, she was going to need Paul's help. He is the only one who will be willing to help her no matter what.
Once again, she was already cooking up plans to use Paul ..and he did not even have a single idea. He was just happy that Joanna had finally contacted him.....
"Joanna...what really happened to you? Do you know how worried everyone was?! Why did you disappear like that? Did you run away because you did not want to get married?" Paul asked. Maybe it was because this question had troubled him the most. Immediately he got the chance, this was the first thing that he asked Joanna.
