Chapter 68

Sonia tried to wrap her mind around the information that she had just gotten. Just who is Joanna? And who is Allen? Does this mean that the woman in there with Lena right now is not Joanna but Allen? Thinking about it slowly, it did make sense. She changed a lot these days. She was no longer the rude and arrogant woman who looked down on everyone. In fact it seemed that she was quite afraid of her. After all the terrible things that Joanna has done? Why would she be afraid of her?
Sonia decided that she had to get to the buttom of this today. She had to know what was going on. If the woman inside there is not Joanna but someone called Allen, then what happened to Joanna? Where is she right now? And how come Allen looks so much like Joanna? There isn't a single difference at all! Did she get plastic surgery? When did plastic bag become so good that you won't be able to tell the difference between the real and that copy? Something is definitely wrong somewhere and she had to find out what it is!
Sonia stood outside the dressing room, waiting for Lena to leave. Lena soon came outside of the dressing room. Sonia stood behind a door, so that she won't see her. She wanted to talk to this woman on her own. She wanted to know what was going on. She knew that if Lena was there, she won't be able to get anything out of her. She wanted to know what happened to Joanna and why someone else was pretending to be her right now
Immediately Lena was gone, Sonia walked into the dressing room. Allen was smiling before Sonia came in. Immediately she saw Sonia, the smile that was on her face froze. She really could not help being scared of this woman. Paul told her that there was nothing much going on between her and Joanna and that they just did not like each other but Allen did not think so. She thought that something else must have happened between them. She really wanted to avioid Sonia, why is she here now?
Allen tried to avioid looking at her but she could not do that. Sonia had her entire attention focused on her right kw. Allen really could not figure out what she wanted by doing this to her. Since Sonia was not saying anything, Allen decided to speak up. Either way this silence and staring contest was about to break her anyway. "Why...why did you come in here sonia? Do you have something that you want to say to me? Why do you keep looking at me?" Allen asked. She tried to sound as tough as possible but in the end she still have herself away.
Sonia looked at the whimpering woman in front of her. Now she was more than convinced that she is not Joanna. The Joanna that she knows will never be this scared of her! If she walked in Joanna's private dressing room and started staring at her like this Joanna would probably have already made a big deal out of it. But if she isn't Joanna, why does she look so much like her? "Who are you? Why are you pretending to be Joanna?" Sonia asked. Her words were firm, leaving no way for Allen to deny it.
Allen felt her heart do a double take when she heard that. She thought for sure that the first person who would probably find out about her ruse would be Raymond. She had already been thinking of all kinds of scenarios in her head when he finds out that she is not Joanna and that she has been lying to him. She had already been imagining how he was going to find that out and what he was going to do to her after wards. She did not think that the first person to know would be Sonia.
Allen swallowed a gulp. She still could not tell Sonia the truth. She could not tell her that she was not Joanna. Who knows what Sonia is going to do then? Will she reveal that Joanna is currently missing right now and that there is an imposter pretending to be her? After all, Sonia and Joanna never got along. Allen suddenly started laughing, trying to make light of the accusations. "Wow Sonia I did not know that you were so funny. Who else could I be if not Joanna?" Allen asked.
Sonia shook her head. She was not expecting her to tell the truth straight away anyway. But no matter what, no matter how much she tried to hide it with her laughter, she was more than convinced right now that this woman in front of her is not Joanna. Sonia really wanted to know why she did not think if it earlier. Why had she not realized it earlier? "You know I keep thinking, why didn't I realize this earlier? You are not Joanna! Just because you look like her doesn't make you her!" Sonia said.
"Thinking about it now, it all starts to make sense. There is no way someone like you can be Joanna. You were always so careful around me. After all the terrible things that Joanna has done, after trying so hard to suppress me for Five years, why would she suddenly turn and start bring careful around me? I should have known that something was wrong from then. Tell me who the hell are you and why you are pretending to be Joanna right now! Also, where is Joanna?" Sonia asked. This was just too much for her to take in at once!
Allen sighed. She knew that she won't be able to hide it anymore. Looks like her acting was not as flawless as she thought. She could take on the role of the character in the drama that she was playing but she could not take on the role of Joanna. Allen felt that it was because she wasn't good enough. She felt that she had betrayed the trust that Paul had in her. But actually, it wasn't because she wasn't good enough. It was just that Joanna was too complicated.
No one could tell what was real and what was fake about her, because she was always living her life like a drama. Allen turned her attention to the woman glaring at her in the room. She knew that she won't be able to keep it away from her anymore. Maybe if she tells her the truth and she begs her, she would agree to keep the secret for them? "You are right Sonia. I am not Joanna. My name is Allen and I am only pretending to be Joanna right now" Allen said.
Even though she had already heard and she had already guessed what was going on, Sonia was still shocked beyond words to hear this from Allen herself. So she isn't really Joanna after all! She is just pretending to be her! But why is she doing this? What happened to Joanna? This woman...she did not do anything to Joanna right? Thinking about that possibility, Sonia was scared. "So it's true. You really are not Joanna. Tell me why are you pretending to be Joanna? And where is the real Joanna? Did you do something to her?" Sonia asked. She was cautious all of a sudden.
Allen shook her head strongly. Of course she did not do anything to her. She hasn't even seen the real Joanna yet. "No of course not Sonia! I did not do anything to her! Actually, I don't even know who Joanna is! I haven't even seen her before. Joanna....she is currently missing right now. She did not want to get married and so she ran away. I'm not pretending to be her so that her career won't get affected before she comes back. I really didn't do anything" Allen said. She did not want to be misunderstood on top all this.
Sonia was taken aback. Joanna ran away?! Joanna ran away because she did not want to get married?! What a joke! Does this woman think that she is going to believe something like that? Joanna was looking forward to the marriage! She bragged so much about it! Sonia did not like Joanna one bit at all but she just had to admit that she was really happy talking about her marriage to Raymond! So why would she run away?
It just did not make sense at all! Now Sonia was more than convinced that this woman had done something to her! It seems that the woman was not as simple as she looked anyway. Who knows? She probably got plastic surgery done to look like Joanna and then did something to her so she could steal her identity and live like her! Joanna has done so many bad things to people, she won't be surprised if someone does something like this to her!
"What? What nonsense are you talking about? Did you really think that I'm going to believe this stupid story? Joanna ran away because she did not want to get married?! What nonsense! Tell me what you did Allen! What did you do to Joanna? You probably got plastic surgery so you could look like her and steal her identity right? To think that Lena knows about it too!" Sonia said. She knew that Joanna probably never treated that girl nicely but isn't this too much?!
Allen felt hurt. She really did not get plastic surgery to look like Joanna! She too was surprised when she found out that there was someone who looks completely like her! How can something like that even be possible?! She was doing this because there is no other way for her to save her grandmother, other wise she would not try to decieve people like this. Why won't they believe her? Why do they think that she is such a bad and terrible person?!
"I really did not do any of that Sonia. I did not do any of those things. I didn't even know about Joanna before. Paul...he is the one who asked me to do this. He approached me and asked me to pretend to be Joanna for six months, just until he finds her. He told me that she ran away because she did not want to get married. I really did not get plastic surgery. And I really did not do anything to Joanna. Why would I do that?" Allen asked. She isn't that scheming.
Sonia looked at her. For some reason, she felt like this woman wasn't lying at all!
She felt like she was telling her the truth. But still, this whole story did not add up! It did not make any sense at all! Why would Joanna run away from a marriage that she was always bragging about? And how on Earth is it possible for two people who don't have any relations to each other and who have never met each other before to look so completely alike? What really is going on here? It was too much for her to handle. Joanna running away from her marriage to Raymond Walker...that is something that she won't believe. There is more to this!
"So you are saying that you really did not do anything to Joanna? What is going on here? The Joanna that I know... She would never run away from her marriage to Raymond Walker! She was so happy about getting married to him! She was even gloating about it rubbing it in everyone's faces! Joanna has always like the attention of other people, so why would she run away when she is supposed to get married to Raymond Walker? It doesn't make sense" Sonia said. Even if Allen did not do anything to her, Joanna definitely did not run away. That was for sure. There is no way that she would run away after bragging about getting married to Raymond Walker.
