Chapter 59

Allen looked at her uncle in surprise. She could not believe what he was telling her. It turned out that it was true after all. He had sold his niece to some man to get married to because of his own benefits. Right now, he was asking Allen to convince Raymond to help thier company. Allen did not know what to say to this man. Is she supposed to tell him that she is going to do it? She is not the real Joanna, she did not know what to do in a situation like this. She just stood there looking at Peter.
Peter looked at Joanna. She had a confused look on her face like she could not understand what he was talking about. Is she trying to back out of this? Since she already got married does she think that she can do whatever she wants? "What is wrong with you Joanna? You have to remember that this is the reason you got married! This is the reason why I let you get married to Raymond. You have to find a way to help out company or we are going to be finished!" Peter said. He was starting to get frustrated.
Allen looked at him. She suddenly remembered what Lena had told her. No matter what these people say to her, she should just agree to it. Allen smiled and nodded her head. "I get you Uncle. I'm going to do just that. I'm going to find a way to convince Raymond to help the company" Allen said. She had a big smile plastered on her face because she wanted to seem believeable. But deep down, she knew that she won't be doing it. She won't be talking to Raymond at all. She is trying to avoid him at all.
Peter looked at Joanna. He could not believe what he was hearing. She instantly agreed to do it without kicking up a fuss? She agreed to do it without looking down on him? He suddenly did not recognize the woman in front of him. What happened to Joanna? Why did she change so much? Peter shook his head. Since she agreed to do it then there is no need for him to think too much. "Yes that's great. All you have to do is convince him. I'm sure that since the both of you are married he won't ignore you" Peter said.
Allen nodded her head. She suddenly felt bad. She is lying to this man. She won't be talking to that Raymond at all. But at least, she did not make a mistake. It seems as if these people haven't noticed anything wrong. Does this mean that she is doing a good job of being Joanna? Since she already agreed to do what he wants, Allen decided to just leave. "Alright Uncle. I'm going to convince him. It's quite late now and Raymond and I need to go home" Allen said. She felt that if she continued to stay with him, she would end up making a mistake. They are her family after all, they should know her really well.
Peter was even more shocked when he heard Joanna ask him for permission to leave. What really happened to her? First she agreed to do what he wants as soon as he asked and now she is asking for his permission to leave? When has Joanna ever respected him like this? "O..ok..okay..you can go" Peter said. He could not help stuttering. Joanna even got up and wished him a good night before she left. Wait, do women change when they get married? Is that what happened to Joanna? How did she change so much in a few days?.
Allen came out of the study ready to go home with Raymond. Clearly, he did not want to be here. Because she begged him, he agreed to come with her but she knew that he was not doing it happily. Will he yell at her when they get to his house? Will he be really angry with her for asking him to do something that he doesn't want to do? Allen was really scared. She did not want to get on this person's bad side, after what Rita had told her, she wanted to avoid him at all costs for the next six months.
She looked around and she could not find her aunty and Fred in the living room that was when she saw Lydia shamelessly flirting with Raymond.
Lydia walked closer to him. She kept approaching him until Raymond spoke up.
"You are Lydia right? I think that you should keep your distance from me" he said. He really hated women like this the most. He thought that Joanna was the most annoying woman that he had ever met, he could see that he was wrong about that now that he has meet Lydia. Doesn't she have any shame at all? What is she doing?
Lydia laughed. A very flirtatious laughter. She could already tell that this man won't be easy to seduce. But that did not want that she wanted to stop. If anything, it made her all the more determined to get him. It was like a challenge. Joanna and Raymond just gave her a challenge. And she is going to make sure that she wins it.
"Don't be like this brother in law. After all, we are all family. You are not going to be wary of your family members right?" Lydia asked.
Raymond could not be bothered to talk with her. Where the hell is Joanna? He needs to get out of this place right now!
Lydia seeing that she was being ignored was pissed. He did not even show any emotions on his face. He just had a straight poker expression on his face. But seeing him like this just made Lydia want him even more. Just an outstanding man, how can that witch Joanna be married to him?
Lydia stepped closer to him and tried to hold his hand but he moved away from her, giving her a dirty look. Lydia was suddenly pissed. When has a man ever ignored her like this? She could not put up with it, never! She would never let herself be insulted like this. She tried again for the second time and he moved swiftly away from her, Lydia almost ended up falling face down.
Raymond glared at Lydia. he thought that the most annoying woman in this world was Joanna. Well he found out that he was wrong. He found Lydia even more irritating and annoying. Why doesn't she know when to stop? Is she on a mission to annoy him to death? Is that why she is doing this?
"Don't be like this brother in law. I don't see you acting this way when Joanna holds you" Lydia said. How can Joanna get this man and she can't?!
Raymond too was surprised about that. For the past eleven years, the first woman who has touched him and he did not feel tgr urge to push her away was Joanna.
"Joanna is my wife. Do you think that you can compare with that?" He asked Lydia.
"Wife? Do you really consider that woman your wife? Let me tell you she is a completely horrible person! She might be pretending to be a saint in front of you right now but I know that she is a bad woman! A woman like that doesn't deserve to be with you!" Lydia said.
"I am the one married to her not you. I don't see how our relationship is any of your business. Isn't that right Joanna?" Raymond asked.
Lydia turned to see Joanna looking at her. When did she get here?
Of course, Allen had seen all of these things. She was starting to wonder if she was being too impulsive in thinking that the relationship between Joanna and hee family won't be that bad. She had just been gone for a few minutes and Lydia is already trying to seduce her husband? Who the hell does that? How can she be her family if she is doing something like this? She glared angrily at Lydia. She did not know why she was feeling this way. The both of them aren't really married anyway. But still, she felt angry.
Allen looked at Raymond. He had seen the way he looked at Lydia and the way he talked to her. Obviously, he wasn't falling for any of her tricks. Maybe, just maybe, he isn't as bad as Rita said? Maybe Rita was actually just over reacting? Allen tried to clear her mind. It isn't in her place to think like this. Whether he is like that or not, she won't have any reason to care in six months time. She walked to him, completely ignoring Lydia and said. "I'm already done here. Let's go"
Lydia looked from Raymond to Joanna. She really wanted to jam her head into a wall. She still could not believe what just happened to her. She had been completely ignored and insulted by Raymond. It would have been fine but Joanna just had to see that! Joanna just had to see her flirting with her husband and being told off! How is she going to hold her head up high in front of her from now on? She was really close to tears now. In a last attempt to get thier attention, Lydia said. "You guys should come back home more often. We can have dinner another time together"
Raymond turned to look at the woman. He had to admit he has never seen anyone as shameless as she is. After being caught trying to do something like this she still has the guts to tell them to come back and ear dinner with her? How are these people even her family? Her Aunty clearly hates her and she tries to find fault with her immediately she sees her, he was sure that her uncle was asking her to talk to him to help thier company and now Lydia after shamelessly trying to flirt with him is inviting them back, this family is just great!
Raymond was going to say something to her but someone held his hand. He turned and looked at Joanna's face. He knew that she had seen everything and even though the both of them were not really married, he knew that she had every reason to be angry. At least, they do not know that they are not married. Of course she should be angry. He was actually expecting Joanna to yell at this cousin of hers, but she did not do it. She actually acted as if she did not see her at all. He was starting to feel more and more that Joanna is a completely different person now.
He looked down at his and and that was when he realized that she was still holding on to him. This is the second time that she is doing something like this. And this is the second time in the past eleven years that he did not have the urge to push a woman who is holding on to him like this away. What really happened to him? Why does he have this reaction to know Joanna? And how on Earth did she end up changing this much? Is this woman in front of him really Joanna? "Let's just leave" she said.
Raymond did not want to be here for much longer anyway. The both of them walked out.
Lydia could only watch as they walked away. She was really angry! She really wanted to smash something into Joanna's face! She could see that Raymond wanted to say something to her when she asked them to come back for dinner but Joanna stopped him! What does she think that she is doing? Does she think that she is doing her a favour? She knew Joanna really well, she is a terrible woman and right now she is putting on an act for Raymond! She knew that she will never be nice to her if it wasn't for that man! Allen found this Joanna even more annoying that before! Who does she think she is? Does she really think that she is better than her?!
