Chapter 62

Allen had just finished filming. She was walking back to her dressing room when she saw someone up ahead of her. It was that woman again. Sonia. Allen wanted to turn back but the woman already saw her. Allen really did not know what to say to her. She remembered what she had said to her yesterday. she could not help thinking, what is Joanna really like? Why does she have so many people who doesn't like her?
She really wanted to know the answer to these questions. Sonia was looking at Allen now. She even had a big smile on her face. Allen felt like she won't be able to stand the pressure of this woman at all. She really wanted to be away from her. As if the woman was bent on torturing her, she started walking closer to her. Allen swallowed a gulp. What does she want to do?
Sonia finally stood in front of her. Sonia really was starting to suspect that there was something going on with Joanna. Why did she look like she was actually scared of her? Joanna has never been scared of anyone. She wasn't scared when she tried to ruin her life five years ago. Why does she look like she is scared right now? What is she trying to do?
"Is there something wrong with you Joanna? You look so pale" Sonia said. She had a mocking look on her face. She was not looking out for Joanna here. She was making fun of her!
Allen nodded her head. "I'm fine. You don't have to worry about me" she said.
Sonia scoffed. "I really don't know what you are trying to do but it's not going to work as long as I'm around. You won't be able to do anything this time" Sonia said.
Allen really felt like crying. What did she want to do? She did not want to do anything. She just wanted to give herself and her grandmother a better life. That is why she agreed to pretend to be someone else for six months. She did not want to do anything to Sonia. In fact, she made her scared
"I really am not doing anything sonia I..." Allen was going to say something when she heard someone call her from behind.
"Joanna"
Allen turned and saw Paul. She had not seen him for some time now. Words could not explain how happy she was to see this person right now. She felt like he was her saviour!
"What are you doing here Paul?" Allen said.
"I'm here to see you" he said. He looked over at the woman who was standing near Allen. Sonia, of course he knew this woman really well. She was almost as popular as Joanna. And it was an open secret in the entertainment Industry that the both of them did not get along with each other.
"Hi Sonia. I didn't know that you and Joanna got along really well" Paul said. He has heard what she said to Allen just now. In other words, he was giving her a warning, stay away from her!
Sonia scoffed. She knew Paul too. He and Joanna were friends. He is a really good actor, she had been in a drama once with him. But she also knew that he is a complete idioit. An idioit being used by Joanna.
"You should know more than anyone else what my relationship with Joanna is like Paul" Sonia said. She will never forget what she did to her. And especially what she did to Jenna. Whenever she saw her, she could only see a woman who got scarred badly because of her. How can she forgive the person who did that to her?
Paul smiled. He knew better than to get into an argument here with Sonia. He turned to Allen instead. He had something that he wanted to talk to her about anyway.
"You are done for the day right? Let's go have some coffee in the café outside. We really have a lot to catch up on" Paul said. He was the one who asked her to do something like this and he had not been checking up on her. He felt that he should at least know how she is doing these past few days. And besides, Lena told him that she met Joanna's family. He lived next to them for some years, he knew exactly how they treated Joanna.
Allen was all too happy to leave this place. She did not understand the type of grudge Joanna had with this woman, she did not want to know either. She just wanted to be as far away from her as possible.
"Alright, let's go" Allen said.
Paul and Allen walked out of the set. Sonia had her eyes on them the whole time until she could not see them anymore. How can a man as talented as Paul allow himself to be used by that woman? Joanna is definitely using him, but he seems to be the only one who can't notice it. How stupid can he be?
Sonia felt someone tap from her behind. She turned sharply and saw Jenna behind her. Why is she being sneaky?
"What happened Jenna? Why are you being sneaky?" She asked.
Jenna had seen two people standing with Sonia just now. "Those people talking with you just now, they were Joanna and Paul right?" Jenna asked.
"Yes. It was Paul. He came to see Joanna. Now can someone be so stupid? Why can't he even see that he's being used right now? Joanna is clearly using him, why can't he see that?" Sonia asked. She could not help complaining to Jenna.
Jenna sighed. It was true. Joanna was such a perfect actress! She even treated her personal life as some idol drama! She really is something! But whatever she does with Paul has nothing to do with them..... right? "I know right? She's really something. But whatever she does with Paul has nothing to do with us right?" Jenna asked..
Sonia sighed. Jenna is right. It really does have nothing to do with her.... right? "Yes it has nothing to do with us. We just have to focus on pulling off her mask" Sonia said. She was really determined to do this.

Allen and Paul were sitting facing each other in a cafe. Paul looked at her face. She still had that scared look that she had on when he saw her just now. It must be really difficult for her to pretend to be someone that she is not right? She must be having a really hard time?
"How are you doing Allen?" Paul asked.
"Oh me, I'm doing fine. Do I look like I'm not fine to you?" Allen asked. She was trying to act like she was fine but her voice betrayed her. She wasn't fine, she wasn't fine at all. She was scared. She was living in constat fear right now. What if Raymond finds out that she is not Joanna and that she is lying to her? And that Sonia woman, she scares her out of her wits!
Paul sighed. He could see that she was not fine. It was all his fault. He found a simple woman to play Joanna. He knew more than anyone else that Joanna's life is not easy. How is she going to deal with it?
"That is not what I mean Allen. How is it? Pretending to be someone else? It's really difficult for you right? It's all my fault. I'm really sorry for asking you to do something like this. No matter what, no matter what the reasons are, this is unfair to you" Paul said. She should not have to deal with these things. Her life has always been simple anyway.
Allen let her eyes fall down. It was true that she was having a hard time. She was constantly living in the fear of someone finding out that she is not Joanna but she is the one who agreed to do it. She said that she was going to do it. Seeing Paul like this, feeling sorry and guilty to her, she was confused. In a situation like this, what is she supposed to do? "You don't have to feel sorry for me Paul. I agreed to do it. You don't need to feel guilty. It's a little bit difficult but I wasn't expecting pretending to be someone else to be easy after all" Allen said.
Paul sighed again. Allen thought that she was helping but she was actually feeling a lot more worse. It was because she was like this, without expecting anything. "I really don't want to see you like this. You seem like something is bothering you. Why don't you tell me about it? We'll deal with it together. If we deal with it together, then it's going to be much more easier for you right?" Paul asked. He really wanted to help her in any way possible.
Allen looked up at him. Tell him about that things bothering her? Thinking about it now, it wasn't such a bad idea. She really wanted to talk to him about Raymond. She really did not dare to breath around Raymond. She felt that he would find out that she is not Joanna. She felt that her life would come crashing down when he finds that out. "Alright. I'm not trying to complain right but Raymond, I'm really actually scared of that person. I know that he is quite a ruthless person. What is he going to do to me if he finds out that I'm not Joanna? I've already decided to keep out of his way for the next six months but I some really know what to do anymore. I'm scared. I really am scared" Allen said. She was close to tears now. How can she not be scared?
Paul suddenly did not know what to say to her. It seems like it was much more worse than he thought. She must be going through a lot now right? When he found his voice he said,
"You don't need to be so scared. He won't find out. And even if he does, you have me. I'm going to help you. I won't just let that person hurt you" Paul said. It was the least that he could do if things don't go as planned anyway.
Allen's mood got better at once. "Really? You mean it when you say that you are going to help me right? You are really going to help me out right?" Allen asked.
Seeing her enthusiasm, Paul could not help but laugh. She really is funny. "Of course I'm going to help you. You don't need to worry about that. After all, I'm the one who got you into all of this. What kind of person would I be if I won't even help you out of the mess that I got into you?" Paul asked.
Allen really could not help the smile that had started to spread out on her face. He said that he is going to help her! Besides Rita, he is the first person that said that he is going to help her! She was really happy tight now. Her smile could only get brighter and brighter.
Paul looked at her face. What is she so happy about? Wasn't she the one who was about to cry just a few minutes ago because of Raymond? When did it all change that she is smiling this happily now? "What happened to you Allen? Weren't you so sad just a few minutes ago? What happened that you are smiling so happily?" Paul asked. He really could not stop himself from asking.
Allen looked up at her. "It's you. I'm smiling because of you" She said.
Paul was shocked. Smiling because of him? What is that supposed to mean? "What do you mean Allen? Smiling because of me? What did I do?" He asked.
"You said that you are going to help me. It's the first time, someone has offered me help" Allen said.
Paul looked at her. First time someone offered to help her? Maybe this woman is not as simple as she looks?
