Chapter 70

After Allen was done with shooting for that day, Lena offered to drive her back home. As they were leaving, she received a call from the hospital. Her grandmother had woken up! Because she was already very old, she did not regain conciousnees immediately after the surgery was over. All this time, she was still in a coma. Allen was very happy to hear that her grandmother had woken up! "Lena, I have to go to the hospital. My grandmother...she just woke up!" Allen announced gleefully. Anyone could tell just how happy she was.
"Wow, this is great news! Do you need me to drive you to the hospital?" Lena asked her. She was in a really good mood today. Up until the moment they left, the director was still praising Allen. Lena had thought for sure that Allen won't be able to do a good job and that she was going to ruin Joanna's acting. She had even already concluded that after this drama was over she won't be accepting any other jobs for her because she felt that Allen won't be able to do it. But she was wrong. It turns out that Allen had the talent to do it after all!
"No, Lena. You don't have to worry about me. I'm going to go by myself" Allen said. The truth was that, she was feeling really guilty. She knew that Lena was happy because she felt that she was doing a really good job of pretending to be Joanna. She could not bring herself to tell her that she already messed up and Sonia already figured out that she is not Joanna. She just did not know how she was supposed to do something like that. Even though Sonia already agreed that she wasn't going to do anything about it, Allen still could not bring herself to tell the truth.
"Alright then. If you say so. You should be careful. Remember that right now you are not just Allen but also Joanna. Don't get into trouble" Lena said. If Allen is seen entering into the hospital and someone writes some crazy article with that, they are going to have a hard time dealing with that. The both of them had already agreed that until the real Joanna comes back, they are going to keep a really low profile and try thier hardest to make sure that Allen doesn't get into any kind of rumours. It was best to be safe than sorry.
Allen nodded her head. Knowing fully well what Lena was talking about. She did not need to be told twice. She happily left for the hospital. Her grandmother finally woke up after so long!

Allen entered the hospital room. Ever since she started pretending to be Joanna, Paul had changed her mother's room. She was now in a VIP room. She had to be really thankful to him for this. He really was going out of his way to hell help. She saw her grandmother lying on the bed when she walked in. She was awake now. It took all her willpower for Allen to stop herself from breaking and crying. Her grandmother woke up! She really did wake up! "Grandmother, how are you feeling? Are you okay? Do you feel any pains?" Allen asked her. She did not see Rita when she walked in so she assumed that she must have left for something.
Lola raised her eyes and saw her granddaughter. She could not hold back her own tears. She started to cry. This poor girl has been through a lot. She thought for sure that she wasn't going to survive this sickness. Allen already have up her dream five years ago she could live. She thought that there was no chance for her to live. But Allen really did find a way to do it. She had to be really grateful to this granddaughter of hers. If it wasn't for her, she would not even know what she would have done. She was really happy to have someone like Allen.
Even though she had lost her only daughter and her husband years ago, she felt happy that she still had this granddaughter. What would she do if it wasn't for Allen. But there was something on her mind though. How did she get the money for the surgery. She knew for sure that Allen won't be able to come up with that ammout easily. How did she get the money. "Allen, tell me something child. How did you get the money for the surgery? What happened? I know that you don't have that kind of money anywhere" Lola said. She was really scared, Allen didn't do something wrong because of her right?
Allen pursed her lips. She really did not want to tell her grandmother that she was playing the role of another person. She did not want her to know that about her. She would feel really guilty if she finds out that she is pretending to be another person just so that she could get treatment. "Grandmother, you just woke up and this is the first thing that you ask about? You don't need to worry about how I got the money. You just need to focus on getting better from now on. Don't worry, I'll take care of everything" Allen said.
Now Lola was even more agitated. She really did not want to accept it but what if Allen really did do something wrong so that she could get the money for her treatment? The both of them could barely make enough to get through each day so how did she get the money for the surgery in such a short amount of time? What is going on here? "Allen, tell me something, where did you get the money? Are you hiding something from me? Don't tell me that you did something wrong so that you can get the money for my treatment right?" Lola asked her. She looked at the clothes Allen was wearing, she did not have these kind of clothes before. Lola was starting to get really scared. What is she going to do if Allen really did do something wrong so that she could treat her? All through the years, Allen has suffered so much with her. Maybe if she did not take this girl in that day, she wouldn't have suffered so much, because of her. She was really feeling guilty. She can accept anything, but not her precious grand daughter going to such lengths just so that she could live a bit longer.
Allen really did not know what she was supposed to say to her grandmother in this situation. What does she take her for? "Grandma, you don't need to worry about that. I can assure you now that I did not do anything wrong! Don't you know what I would do and what I won't do? I found a new job, and it pays really well. I was able to pay for the surgery with the money that I was paid from my job. You don't need to worry. I'm not doing anything wrong" Allen said. Well, she wasn't completely lying. She did find a new job, pretending to be someone else.
Lola was not convinced. The more Allen tried to tell her that there was nothing more to this the more she felt that she was keeping something from her. A new job? She didn't even get to go to college because of her. What decent job would pay her so much that she would get the money for her surgery in such a short time and her clothes.....did she pay for those clothes with the money she earned from her job? What really is going on? "Don't lie to me Allen. Because of me, you could not even go to college. Tell me the truth. Just what kind of job are you doing?" Lola asked.
Now Allen was starting to get frustrated. She really did not want to tell her grandmother that she was playing the role of another person. She did not want her to know that about her. She would feel really guilty if she finds out that she is pretending to be another person just so that she could get treatment. "Grandmother, don't you trust me? Do you really think that I'm going to do something indecent? You've rasied me for so long. Don't you know the granddaughter you raised? Am I such a person?" She asked.
This worked on her grandmother perfectly. She knew Allen well. She knew just how much of a good girl she is. She definitely won't do something like that. It was just that she was worried because she knew what thier situation was like. Well, since she says that she should not worry she is not going to worry then. Her granddaughter is going to take care of everything. There is no need for her to bother herself. "No Allen, I know that you are a good girl and I know that you won't do bad things. I was just worried but since you say that you got a job, it's fine then" Lola said.
Allen sighed in relief. Her outburst really worked on her. Now she won't continue to ask her where she got the money from. Allen felt like she would have broken down and told her everything if her grandmother had continued to question her like this. "You don't have to worry about anything grandmother. From now on, I'm going to take care of everything by myself. Don't worry, my new job pays me really well" Allen said. Once she is done with this in six months time, they would finally be able to live a good life. They won't need to suffer so much anymore.

Raymond was driving to the hospital. He had just gotten news from the hospital director that his grandfather kept demanding to be discharged. He had been so sick on the verge of death just a few weeks ago and now he wants to leave the hospital? What does that old man even think that he is doing? Immediately he got to the hospital, he went to to his father's private ward. He did not even look at some of the doctors who knew who he was she who greeted him as he went up. When he got there, he saw his grandfather demanding to be discharged.
Raymond walked over to him immediately. Isn't this the man who kept saying that he was so sick he could die? And now he wants to be discharged? Is bus grandfather playing around with him right now.? "Grandfather, what do you think that you are doing right now? You are still this sick and you want to be discharged? What is going on here?" Raymond asked. He completely believed the story of his grandfather being gravely ill and he did not for once suspect that the old man might have been lying to him. It did not even cross his mind once.
John was happy to see that his grandson had come. He could talk to him now and ask him to get discharged from this place. John signalled for the doctors to leave. He wanted to talk to Raymond alone. Now that that trouble maker Ryan is back, he knew that he won't just sit back and do nothing. He is going to do everything that he can to cause trouble for Raymond this time again. John had already decided that he won't let Ryan do that. But if he is going to do anything then he has to leave the hospital. He won't be able to do anything as long as he is in the hospital.
"Raymond, I know my body more than anyone else. I'm not sick anymore. I already recovered. Tell them to let me get discharged" John said. He wasn't even sick to begin with in the first place.
Raymond refused to buy it. "You were almost dying a few weeks ago and now you are no longer sick? There's no way I'm going to let you leave this place" Raymond said. Moreover Ryan is back. Who knows what that crazy fool will do this time?
"But Ryan is back!" John said.
