Chapter 14 Dignity
Brian, observing the scene, nodded in understanding.
He scrutinized at the Newborn Dragons closely, sensing a distinct aura of top predators—Dragon's Might.
In Dragon Heritage, this was more accurately described as a fierce aura.
Adult dragons could use Dragon's Might to immobilize many creatures within their territory, intimidating them mentally.
In battles of equal strength, Dragon's Might could pressure the opponent's spirit, a powerful supernatural ability.
Supernatural abilities were powers not affected by magical resistances, making them difficult to counter or dispel. Dragon's Breath and Brian's Time Manipulation were such abilities.
"Newborn Dragons have Dragon's Might but can't control it well. It scares off prey instead of immobilizing them," He muttered.
The White Dragon Mother was still sleeping on the massive ice crystal bed when they back at the Dragon's Lair, seemingly never to wake.
Brian found a spot to lie down, closing his eyes to rest while slowly sensing his own aura.
He caught prey using his acceleration ability, relying on the significant speed difference. Like the other little dragons, his Dragon's Might was unconsciously emitted.
This was not good, especially when he was weak.
Uncontrolled Dragon's Might marked his position, making it easier for enemies to find him.
The first lesson for Newborn Dragons was to control their fierce aura, mastering Dragon's Might.
Not just Brian, but Hill, Charles, and Leonard were also working on controlling their Dragon's Might, preventing its random emission.
However, Brian realized the need to control Dragon's Might, mastering it in just over half an hour.
This talent was one of the benefits of being a Time Dragon.
Dragon Heritage described Time Dragons as having innate mastery over any learned skill or language.
This meant that skills requiring learning were easily grasped by Time Dragons. For instance, Brian had quickly learned fine magic control when borrowing the White Dragon Mother's magical gemstone.
Having spent much mental energy trying Time Manipulation, Brian closed his eyes and slept after mastering the control of Dragon's Might.
This sleep was for quick mental recovery, not the deep, evolution-promoting dragon slumber that required time and energy accumulation.
Brian was soon awakened.
He turned to see the beautiful and massive White Dragon Mother stretching her wings, her pale yellow dragon eyes filled with satisfaction from a good sleep. But this satisfaction vanished when she saw the Newborn Dragons.
'Apparently, the White Dragon Mother didn't like the Newborn Dragons,' Brian thought.
The White Dragon Mother left the lair, returning with a killed and frozen magical creature, a Winter Wolf. This large, snow-white wolf was almost a dragon-level magical creature.
As the Newborn Dragons eagerly approached the food, the White Dragon Mother stopped them. She used her sharp dragon claws to divide the Winter Wolf into four parts, giving the largest piece to Brian and the smaller ones to Hill, Charles, and Leonard.
Brian blinked and began eating without hesitation.
Winter Wolf meat, which was rich in energy, greatly promoted Newborn Dragon's growth.
If not for the White Dragon Mother's clear allocation, he would have taken more from his siblings.
The White Dragon Mother allocated the largest portion to him because he grew the fastest and was the strongest among the Newborn Dragons. In the strength-respecting Evil Dragon culture, even food distribution followed this principle.
The weak were mercilessly eliminated.
The three little dragons looked enviously at Brian's food, their eyes brimming with greed. However, with the White Dragon Mother present and having experienced Brian's dominance, they didn't dare to snatch it.
After feeding the Newborn Dragons, the White Dragon Mother went back to sleep.
Whatever dreams she had must have been wonderful to keep her so enthralled.
Brian rested briefly after eating. Feeling energized, he flew out of the lair to hunt alone.
He needed ample food to grow quickly. Since the White Dragon Mother didn't provide enough, he had to catch it himself. Fortunately, there were no powerful magical creatures near the Ice Cliff Dragon's Lair, easing his concerns.
The territory chosen by the White Dragon Mother was indeed rich in prey.
Seeing Brian leave to hunt, the three little dragons quickly followed suit.
With his stronger physique and Time Manipulation ability, Brian always returned from hunting with plenty of food. He only returned to the lair to rest when tired, resuming his hunts once he recovered.
Time passed slowly In the perpetual daylight.
While hunting, Brian also explored other Time Dragon abilities, but he found nothing new, perhaps due to his young age. However, his combat skills improved with each hunt.
As for the three little dragons, they often returned empty-handed.
But as dragons, even the weakest White Dragons among the Evil Dragons, they weren't ordinary magical creatures. After weeks of learning to control their Dragon's Might and mastering underwater and under-ice ambushes, they began to have some success and no longer went hungry.
The White Dragon Mother, with her irresponsible manner, only hunted a magical creature for the Newborn Dragons once a week.
This was their happiest time, as magical creature meat was the best food for Newborn Dragons, rich in energy and nutrients far beyond ordinary beasts.
Brian always received the largest portion, making the three little dragons envious and resentful but helpless.
Life settled into a routine. It lacked excitement but provided safety and stability.
Hunting, exploring abilities, waiting for the mother dragon's feeding, beating the Dragon Brothers and Sister—these brats never learned their lesson, challenging Brian periodically, then sleeping...
Time whisked by amidst this straightforward yet gratifying routine.
After experiencing a polar night and day, the entire northern Ice Field was enveloped in darkness. A eighty-foot-long, twenty-foot wingspan white beast leaped from the Ice Cliff Dragon's Lair, soaring freely in the howling cold wind.
