Chapter 21 Failed Creations

Brian was both surprised and delighted to see a gathering of elemental beings in the extreme northern ice field.

He was delighted because elemental beings were usually intelligent and capable of communication, unlike Terror Lizards or White Hounds, which couldn’t fully comprehend his commands.

Having Arctic Ice Spirits as his minions would make issuing orders much easier.

Brian was surprised because elemental beings were extremely rare and valuable on the Prime Material Plane.

These special beings mainly resided in the inner planes, which were not part of the Prime Material Plane but were closely related to it.

The Prime Material Plane was balanced, containing various energies and elements, resulting in a diverse range of creatures. In contrast, the inner planes were pure elemental or energy realms, each dominated by a single element or energy and featuring a singular, often hazardous environment.

The six inner planes were Earth, Water, Fire, Air (Wind), Positive Energy, and Negative Energy.

"Elemental beings in the Prime Material Plane are most likely remnants of summoning magic, perhaps left behind by a careless mage," Brain said.

"It's almost impossible for elemental beings to form naturally on the Prime Material Plane."

While Brian was contemplating, the tallest Arctic Ice Spirit approached him, saying in Common Language with a mix of fear and reverence, "Great True Dragon, your presence here is our honor. How may we serve you?"

Indeed, they were intelligent. Brian's eyes lit up.

He gazed at the Arctic Ice Spirit before him and said in a deep voice, "This glacier will be my territory from now on."

"You will serve as my minions, offering everything to me."

"And I, True Dragon Brian, the future master of the Ice Field, will provide you with the dragon's protection!"

Having just lost the White Dragon Mother's protection, Brian was now offering protection to other beings.

Upon hearing Brian's words, the Arctic Ice Spirit showed no resistance. Instead, he joyfully knelt down, saying, "It is the highest honor for the Ice River Tribe to be accepted as your minions, great True Dragon."

Their words were filled with excitement at having Brian, a True Dragon, as their protector.

Brian was quite surprised.

He had expected to fight and subdue the Arctic Ice Spirits.

In Brian's experience, elemental beings were usually spellcasters with decent combat abilities and a rather arrogant demeanor, often looked down on flesh-and-blood creatures.

Even as a True Dragon, he thought it would be challenging to make elemental beings submit with just a display of dragon power.

Brian pondered for a moment and then asked the Arctic Ice Spirit before him, "State your name."

He replied respectfully, "Master, my name is Roy of York."

"Then, Roy, show me your abilities."

Brian stepped forward, indicating for Roy to attack him.

If his guess was correct, these Arctic Ice Spirits might be weaker than normal elemental beings, explaining their eagerness to become his minions.

The strongest member of the Ice River Tribe, Roy, looked troubled who was reluctant to attack Brian.

Brian impatiently waved his wings, saying, "Don't waste time. I won't hold it against you for attacking me."

Only then did Roy relax, raising his ice crystal arm and forming a crystalline dagger, which he shot at Brian.

The cold dagger shattered upon hitting Brian's scales, causing no damage.

Brian looked at Roy encouragingly, saying, "Good. Continue."

But under Brian's gaze, Roy awkwardly lowered his head, saying, "Master, I can only use this one move, the Cold Dagger."

Brian was speechless.

Due to the harsh weather, ninety percent of ice field creatures had high frost resistance. Brian was completely immune to the Cold Dagger's damage, not even getting scratched.

Only able to use a single, weak pseudo-magical ability, and an ice-based attack at that, the Arctic Ice Spirits could only survive as the lowest-tier creatures in the extreme northern ice field.

The Arctic Ice Spirits couldn't even match the Terror Lizards in terms of strength.
