Chapter: 150 Entering the Mountains
For him, hunting was a simple task. No prey targeted by Brian could escape his grasp, not even some powerful upper Ice Field predators that could make ordinary creatures tremble in fear. With strong and powerful wings flapping, the howling wind was incessant. Brian looked up at the much brighter sky.
As he moved away from the extreme northern Ice Field, the surrounding environment changed dramatically. The temperature rose, and the once ubiquitous ice and snow began to become scarce. The sky at the edge of the extreme northern Ice Field, which was in perpetual night, grew increasingly bright.
Having been in a low-temperature environment for so long, Brian initially felt a bit uncomfortable as he approached the warmer south. As the temperature gradually increased, he felt drowsy. However, Brian adapted well to the environment, and this state lasted only a short time.
Mountains of ice, cold peaks, and snowy valleys... time passed quickly, and these landscapes gradually disappeared from Brian's view, replaced by vast hills and highlands with sparse greenery. Although the temperature here was not high due to its proximity to the north, to Brian, it could only be described as warm.
The Dragon Spine Mountains in his view were now clear enough to see lush forests and steep, rugged mountains. At the same time, Brian glanced at the sky. At some point, the night had faded away, and the faint morning light appeared on the horizon, casting a soft golden glow over the Dragon Spine Mountains. It looked like a winding dragon clad in golden armor, peacefully sleeping on the Earth.
Brian was no longer in the extreme northern Ice Field. He had left the extreme northern Ice Field and was experiencing the brief day-night cycle for the first time in this world.
Whoosh!
The silver dragon lowered its altitude, the edges of its Dragon Wings swirling with strong winds, causing the leaves below to rustle. Orcs, goblins, dwarves... the intelligent species living here looked up and saw Brian's figure, their faces showing awe, fear, or hatred.
Brian looked down at the world below, taking a deep breath of the air filled with the fragrance of plants, feeling incredibly refreshed. The lush forests, gently flowing rivers, not-so-cold breezes, and the low growls of wild beasts in the mountains all gave him a sense of novelty. These were natural scenes intertwined together, scenes he could hardly see in the extreme northern Ice Field.
The long flight made Brian feel a bit tired, and now that he was in a new environment, he decided to land in the verdant mountains to rest and enjoy the scenery. Folding his Dragon Wings, Brian slowly descended. The once faintly visible mountains were now right beneath him. Brian's massive body did not stand out among the tall, silent trees.
Many of the treetops around were tinged with a sunset-like red color, and there were many other unknown plants or large trees of different colors. This vibrant, colorful world was completely different from the snow-white, silver-clad extreme northern Ice Field, each with its own captivating charm.
Brian spotted a tree about ten yards tall. Its canopy was like an umbrella, with dense foliage, and it bore a red fruit similar to an apple but several times larger than the apples Brian remembered. His eyes lit up, and he immediately extended his Dragon Claws to pluck a few, tossing them into his mouth. The flesh was tender, the juice sweet, and the texture crisp, making Brian pluck many more red fruits and toss them all into his mouth.
In no time, the tree was bare, with most of its fruit now in Brian's belly. Realizing this, Brian couldn't help but sigh, "I almost forgot what fruit tastes like." The extreme northern Ice Field also had plants, but whether there were any edible fruits, Brian didn't know. At least, he hadn't found any in the past three years.
After some thought, Brian decided to pluck the remaining fruits along with some branches and put them into the space ring to enjoy later. Dragons are omnivorous, capable of eating soil, rocks, and metals, but Brian always preferred meat. However, occasionally eating some fruit had its own unique flavor.
