Chapter: 144 The Glory of the True Dragon
After encasing the Frostwood Serpent Dragon in several more layers of ice, Luna and Brianna wandered around Brian's territory, marveling at the strength of Brian's followers.
Especially the Winter Wolves of the Wolfheart Clan.
Winter Wolves are notoriously proud and rebellious. Even if a True Dragon takes the initiative, it's rare to subdue a Winter Wolf as a follower.
These highly intelligent wolves are more inclined to cooperate rather than submit to the will of a True Dragon and become subservient creatures.
It's not that dragons haven't tried to threaten them with their lives, but many Winter Wolves have an unyielding spirit, preferring death over submission.
When they saw the Minotaur Shaman mining gemstones, they also expressed curiosity about the spirits of nature. While there are creatures that believe in nature spirits, they are not easy to come by. They didn't expect Brian to have subdued a group of nature shamans as slaves.
"Do you plan to build your Crystal Palace here?" Brianna suggested to Brian, glancing at the relatively low, small snow mountain. "This place is too low; it's not a good location for a palace."
Brian shook his head and said, "I don't stay here often. I'll build it in the Ice Cliff Territory that originally belonged to Salia."
Brianna nodded her dragon head and said happily, "That thousand-foot Ice Cliff is indeed impressive. Building a Crystal Palace at the top will make it shine brilliantly, grand and majestic, and you'll have a panoramic view of the Ice Field from inside."
"You've helped me a lot. When you return from the south, I'll do my best to help you build the palace and make it my greatest work ever."
Brian smiled and said, "I'll be looking forward to it."
Since Amos and Lilith still needed care, Luna and Brianna didn't stay long in Brian's territory. After lingering for another ten minutes, they decided to leave.
Before leaving, Luna reminded, "When you go south, don't underestimate humans."
"Ninety-nine percent of them are weak creatures, but the powerful individuals among them are enough to make even ancient dragons wary."
Humans with exceptional talent can become legendary figures by the age of twenty, while a twenty-year-old True Dragon is still in its juvenile stage.
Although such cases are rare, they are enough to show that humans should not be underestimated.
In many worlds of the Prime Material Plane, humans are the dominant race. True Dragons are powerful and revered, but they are no longer the true rulers of the continent.
Brian hadn't thought about restoring the glory of the True Dragons, but as a Time Dragon, as long as he grows to a certain extent, his mere existence will be enough to revive the True Dragon race to some degree.
The Silver Dragon and Crystal Dragon flew into the sky, disappearing into the vast night, gradually fading from Brian's sight.
After they left, many creatures in the territory, who had been cautiously holding their breath, slowly returned to normal.
Seeing two unfamiliar, super-large True Dragons at the same time is a once-in-a-lifetime event for many creatures.
Brian shifted his gaze to the Frostwood Serpent Dragon, which had been thrown onto an open space.
Several Winter Wolves of the Wolfheart Clan were continuously breathing frost, maintaining the thick ice crystals around the Frostwood Serpent Dragon.
Even so, as time passed, many visible cracks appeared in the ice crystals where they were in contact with the Frostwood Serpent Dragon's body, spreading outward like spider webs or branching tree limbs.
Brian moved his body and walked up to the Frostwood Serpent Dragon, his gaze piercing through the thick ice crystals to scrutinize it.
Dark green, rough scales, menacing sharp spikes, and a fierce look in its eyes... it was undoubtedly a fearsome creature.
However, although serpent dragons are naturally vicious and filled with destructive rage, this doesn't mean they lack intelligence.
Serpent dragons can speak three languages: Dragon Tongue, Abyssal, and Sylvan.
Abyssal is a language used to communicate with ancient evil beings, some Evil Gods, or their followers. The fact that serpent dragons can speak Abyssal is one reason many believe they are favored by Evil Gods.
As for Sylvan... Brian's assessment is that it's a silent language.
Records about Sylvan are quite peculiar.
It's actually a language used to communicate with elves, but its most notable feature is its silence. It's a language spoken with the heart, and only creatures with strong mental power can "hear" it.
Serpent dragons know Sylvan not because they are particularly sensitive in a spiritual sense... but because they love eating elves so much that they have ingrained Sylvan into their heritage to lure elves and lower their guard.
Brian thought that with his talent for languages, he could learn Abyssal and Sylvan through the Frostwood Serpent Dragon.
"Stop."
"Go about your own business and don't disturb me here."
He said to the Winter Wolves of the Wolfheart Clan.
The Winter Wolves, who had been breathing frost, stopped their output in response and then retreated, disappearing from the surroundings in an instant.
Almost the moment the Winter Wolves left, the thick ice crystals, no longer supported, began to shake gently, and then, as time passed, the shaking quickly became violent.
Crack, crack...
A series of cracking sounds echoed.
Soon, lightning-like cracks extended from the inside to the surface of the ice crystals, and then suddenly merged into one.
Boom!
Ice crystals splintered and flew in all directions like bullets.
Brian stood still, his broad Dragon Wings sweeping away all the shattered ice chunks.
At this moment, in his line of sight, the Frostwood Serpent Dragon, having shattered the ice crystals, was shaking its body, trembling off the last bit of thin ice, and then glaring viciously at Brian.
"Seeing you True Dragons always whets my appetite."
"I'm going to kill you first, then eat you, and then find those two other despicable True Dragons like you and tear them apart to devour them."
The Frostwood Serpent Dragon stared at Brian, thick saliva dripping from its mouth, sizzling on the ground and emitting wisps of green smoke.
Judging by its appearance, its words were not just threats but genuine thoughts of wanting to eat a dragon.
Even the most vicious chromatic Evil Dragons wouldn't be interested in the flesh and blood of fellow True Dragons. The fact that serpent dragons are not recognized as dragons is largely due to their temperament.
"Not just you True Dragons, but every living thing in your territory—I will kill them all, leaving none alive!"
"Even the rocks and trees in your territory, I will trample and destroy! So you will know the terrifying consequences of provoking me!"
As the Frostwood Serpent Dragon spoke, its claws scratched the ground, leaving deep gouges.
Brian: ...
Wow, it won't even spare the lifeless rocks and trees?
Listening to the Frostwood Serpent Dragon's threats, Brian remained unmoved, only gaining a new understanding of the serpent dragon's ferocious nature.
