Chapter 51 Anomaly
After some time, amidst the harsh weather of a violent snowstorm sweeping across the northern Ice Field, Brian returned to the Ogre basin.
Due to the unique structure of the Ogre basin, it usually blocked snowstorms effectively. In the past, there was rarely any snow accumulation on the ground and houses. However, the current super blizzard was evidently a force that the basin could not withstand, as the indifferent white color began to blanket the land.
Ogres, who typically enjoyed lying directly on the ground outside, were now mostly out of sight, staying obediently inside their houses. The Ogres of the northern Ice Field had developed a moderate resistance to the cold and frost as a result of the harsh climate, but this resilience had its limitations. If they became lost in a blizzard, they were at risk of freezing to death.
However, while most Ogres stayed indoors to avoid the snowstorm, a few anomalies were conspicuously lying in the snow, scratching their heads in boredom.
These five Ogres were all quite large, so large that they even exceeded the typical height limits of Ogres. The largest one stood at a towering ten feet tall, with the others all measuring over nine feet, each boasting muscles as well-defined as those of a seasoned bodybuilder, showing no fear in the face of the snowstorm.
Aside from their unusually large size, they also had some silver-white scales scattered across their bodies, emitting cold air. These scales bore a resemblance to dragon scales, although not as resilient as true dragon scales, they were significantly tougher than those of ordinary scaled creatures.
Meanwhile, as Brian approached the Ogre basin, the few Ogres were slightly startled and simultaneously looked up.
Amidst the blinding snowstorm, a graceful figure flapped his wings, breaking through the flying snow, becoming clearer as he descended towards the Ogre basin.
Brian looked down at the few anomalous Ogres, sensing the bloodline belonging to him within them at first glance.
"So this is what Dragon-blooded Ogres look like?"
There were no records of Dragon-blooded Ogres in the Dragon Heritage, so Brian knew little about them.
However, simply by observing their size, he could discern that these Ogres had greatly enhanced their strength through the Dragon-blood transformation.
Within their bodies, elemental super magic flowed with their blood.
This indicated that the Dragon-blooded Ogres had become magical creatures who were capable of spellcasting.
The largest Ogre still faintly resembled Tancred.
Simultaneously, Tancred bowed his head respectfully, expressing, "Congratulations, Master, on your awakening. Your power has grown even stronger.”
Without Brian needing to ask, Tancred continued smartly, "The Dragon's Lair has been completed. Shall I take you there now?"
Brian shook his head and released his Dragon Claws, setting down the Extreme Northern Bear hatchlings.
The two hatchlings, shivering from the cold, whimpered as soon as they touched the ground.
"Get these little ones some food, Make sure they don’t freeze to death."
A Dragon-blooded Ogre stepped forward upon hearing the order, taking the Extreme Northern Bear hatchlings to a warmer house and finding a lactating female Ogre to nurse them.
Brian devoured an entire adult Extreme Northern Bear during this time.
Brian relished the chewy, flavorful bear meat as it mingled with the crunchy Ice Crystal, devouring it swiftly and leaving no trace behind.
The elemental energy-rich blood and flesh brought great satisfaction to Brian, finally satiating the hunger he had experienced since awakening.
Once he had finished the Extreme Northern Bear, Brian instructed Tancred to guide him to the Dragon's Lair.
Brian asked on the way, "After the Dragon-blood transformation, have you got any new skills?"
Tancred immediately replied, "Master, your bloodline power is incredibly strong. It has given me and the other four Ogres some pseudo-magical abilities to control ice."
Brian observed the Dragon-blooded Ogres and asked, "Anything else?"
Tancred hesitated for a moment and then replied honestly, "No."
Brian withdrew his gaze and did not ask further.
It seemed that the Dragon-blood transformation only granted the White Dragon bloodline.
However, Brian felt that his White Dragon bloodline which stimulated by his Time Dragon physique, seemed much stronger than that of an ordinary White Dragon.
A few minutes later, Brian arrived at the location where the Ogres had built the Dragon's Lair for him.
Upon closer inspection, he noticed a cave resembling a Dragon's Lair located at the edge of the Ogre basin's stone wall. The limited height of the basin's stone wall meant that the Dragon's Lair was only about one hundred and fifty feet above the ground, relatively low in altitude.
"Master, is this your Dragon's Lair?" Tancred said nervously to Brian.
Brian nodded, as he flapped his Dragon Wings, flying into the Dragon's Lair.
The winding cave, with walls covered in Ice Crystal, was bright and spacious, ample enough for an adult White Dragon. At the deepest part was a large bed made of Ice Crystal.
The Dragon's Lair was very similar to the White Dragon Mother's, both in location and design, as Tancred had built it according to Brian's requirements.
The riverbed Dragon's Lair was just for temporary concealment but Brian did 't like.
Having spent his formative years in the White Dragon Mother's Dragon's Lair, he had developed a subconscious fondness for cave-like lairs constructed on steep cliffs.
"The imitation Dragon's Lair built by the Ogres might not be needed anymore."
"It's too low to enjoy the view of the northern Ice Field."
Before his slumber, Brian hadn't anticipated such a significant increase in his strength.
If he had known that the White Dragon Mother wouldn't be his match, he wouldn't have had the Ogres build the Dragon's Lair.
The reason was simple.
He contemplated seizing control of the White Dragon Mother's Dragon's Lair and ousting her. Reflecting on his own ruthless expulsion from the Dragon's Lair, Brian thought to himself, ‘You won’t know what comes next...’
In the Ice Cliff Dragon's Lair, the White Dragon Mother who was impatiently watching the three little Newborn Dragons, suddenly turning her head suspiciously, feeling an inexplicable sense of foreboding.
Dragons' instincts were usually accurate, making her a bit irritable and restless in the Dragon's Lair.
Brian didn't know what the White Dragon Mother was doing. He walked to the Ice Crystal dragon bed and lay down.
Curling his long dragon tail in front of him as a pillow, he stretched his Dragon Wings forward, forming a small enclosed space.
The howling of the snowstorm made Brian plan to take a nap. This feline-like sleeping posture was his favorite.
When he woke up, it would be time to trouble the White Dragon Mother.
He closed his eyes. When he woke up again, three days had passed.
Upon opening his eyes, Brian stretched his back and yawned, then he thought to check on the two Extreme Northern Bear hatchlings.
Despite asking the Ogres to look after them, being separated from their parents and potentially struggling to adjust to the new surroundings could result in their premature deaths.
As Brian approached the perimeter of the Dragon's Lair, preparing to take flight, he suddenly sensed a disturbance in the temporal power.
Brian paused, looking around in astonishment, gazing at the ethereal River of Time.
The usually tranquil River of Time showed noticeable ripples nearby, as if some force was stirring the waters of time.
"What... is going on?"
Brian quickly became alert, his gaze locked on the temporal ripples, prepared for anything.
