Chapter: 153 The Blessing of the God of Light
As long as they are gods, they won't casually play the game of world destruction. Besides, the world isn't that easy to destroy; at most, they could annihilate the creatures living in it.
The so-called darkness devouring light, in Brian's understanding, is more likely to mean that it would diminish the God of Light's standing in this world.
Perhaps it is precisely because the black sun Evil God would cause significant trouble for the Bright Holy See and affect the source of faith for the God of Light that He decided to intervene.
The black sun... The God of Light also has the nickname Sun God, so this Evil God might just have a grudge against Him.
But these are just Brian's speculations; he isn't sure.
After pondering for a moment, Brian calmed himself and asked, "If someone were to find the black Sun Sculpture and hand it over to your Bright Holy See, what would you do with it?"
The priest replied succinctly, "Of course, we would destroy it."
So confident... It seems the Bright Holy See has the means to destroy the black Sun Sculpture, Brian thought to himself.
He remained silent for a moment, then casually asked, "I'm curious, would the hero who hands over the black Sun Sculpture and 'saves' the world receive any reward?"
The priest nodded, "Of course."
Then, with a look of longing, as if describing a tremendous benefit, he said in a reverent and devout tone, "The exalted God of Light would bestow His blessing, allowing the hero to be bathed in divine grace, free from evil for life, under the watch and protection of the God of Light, and after death, ascend to the divine kingdom to be with the deity forever."
The surrounding Paladins showed the same expression as the priest. Some even knelt, looking up at the sky, praying devoutly, surrounded by holy light.
At first, seeing the extreme longing on the faces of the priest and Paladins, Brian was quite eager for their so-called reward, thinking it must be something good, and was already mentally prepared to hand over the black Sun Sculpture.
But as he listened to the priest's words, Brian's anticipation gradually faded, and his expression turned displeased.
Blessing?
Watch?
Protection?
Forever by His side?
None of these were things Brian needed. What the priest and Paladins yearned for was, to Brian, less valuable than some real gold and silver.
He certainly didn't want his every move exposed under the deity's watch.
The deity's followers might take pride in this, but Brian wasn't a follower of the God of Light; he only believed in himself.
After a brief thought, Brian decided to give the Bright Holy See people one more chance and suggested, "Perhaps divine blessings might not be accepted by most people. Have you considered offering sufficient wealth as a reward? For example, a mountain of magical gems."
The priest was taken aback, then chuckled and shook his head, "How can these worldly possessions compare to the great God of Light's blessing?"
"Believe me, no creature would refuse a deity's blessing. For a hero who can save the world, this is the best gift."
Brian: ..............
Well, sorry to say, but this 'hero' here is the kind of anomaly who would refuse a deity's blessing.
This elderly Bright Holy See priest didn't realize that his overly confident words directly led to the target the church had been desperately searching for slipping right through their fingers.
After giving the priest of the Bright Holy See a chance, which he failed to seize, Brian decided not to reveal any information about the Black Sun Sculpture for the time being.
He chose to wait until he had more time and confidence before going to the headquarters of the Bright Holy See to directly ask the Pope if he would be willing to exchange other treasures for it.
The blessing and protection of the God of Light... he couldn't care less about it, let it be given to whoever wants it.
Brian's thoughts were firm: without sufficient benefits, even if the Evil God could truly descend and bring disaster and darkness to the Noah Continent, he would not give away his precious collection for free.
No dragon would do such a thing.
Not even a gold or silver dragon.
If someone asked them to selflessly contribute their collection, they would surely face the wrath of a good dragon.
If it was an exchange, that would be a different story.
