Chapter: 171 Painting a Big Picture
A few hours later, when Brian woke up from a nap, the first thing he saw was the despondent red dragon.
It had been wreaking havoc outside to vent its emotions and had gradually calmed down. Now, it was lying by the edge of the magma pool, a look of existential contemplation on its face, occasionally glancing at Brian, lost in thought.
Seeing Brian open his eyes, the red dragon lifted its head slightly, then weakly lay back down.
In the magma pool, Brian rotated his neck, his dragon wings gently stirring, causing the magma to flow.
"This feels really good."
Brian praised the magma pool, then moved his body and walked out of it.
There was still some magma on his dragon scales, which dripped to the ground as he walked, creating bright, scorching flames.
"Accept reality."
Brian looked down at the red dragon, his voice deep.
The red dragon shook its body and slowly stood up, looking at Brian with a hint of unwillingness in its eyes. But after hesitating for a few seconds, it finally sighed in resignation and lowered its noble dragon head to Brian.
"In the presence of the Dragon Queen, the red dragon Roger will honor the agreement and pledge allegiance to you for a century from this moment."
Since it couldn't resist this harsh reality, Roger decided to accept it.
It changed its attitude towards Brian, its expression and tone becoming much more respectful.
Brian nodded in satisfaction and said calmly, "Roger, one day in the future, you might be grateful that you lost to me today."
The red dragon Roger remained silent, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
After a pause, it suddenly whispered to Brian, "In pledging my allegiance, do I still need to return the wealth of the Mocha Principality?"
A loyal follower doesn't have to surrender their own wealth; what they obtain is theirs. Otherwise, with the greedy nature of an evil dragon, it would rather die than pledge allegiance to another true dragon.
The two white dragon guards were a different case.
Because they had stolen Brian's things first, as punishment, he had taken their treasures. If they had followed him normally, they wouldn't have had to give up their accumulated wealth either.
"Of course, one thing has nothing to do with the other."
"The treasures you obtained from other places, I won't take a single coin. But what you got from the Mocha Principality, you must give me every last bit."
Brian glanced at the red dragon and said something that broke its heart.
"Sigh..."
Roger's expression was bleak.
Then, with a pained look, it flew over the magma pool to the deeper part of the Dragon's Lair to organize its wealth.
Before long, Roger returned, holding several large metal boxes, and placed them in front of Brian.
Brian's eyes lit up as he opened each one.
Inside were piles of gold coins and gems. The moment the boxes were opened, the surrounding walls and floor were illuminated, and the entire Dragon's Lair was filled with the scent of money and treasure.
"It's all here."
Roger extended its dragon claws, its face full of reluctance. It turned its head, unable to bear the sight of its treasures falling into another dragon's hands, but couldn't help but watch Brian's actions out of the corner of its eye, perhaps hoping Brian would have a change of heart and leave it some.
Seeing its expression, Brian chuckled and then unceremoniously stored the treasure chests in his space ring.
He wasn't an evil dragon, but he was still a dragon, and no dragon would easily give up its treasures.
When the treasure chests disappeared, the red dragon let out a heavy breath, sparks flying from its nostrils, and the light in its eyes dimmed for a moment.
Brian turned his gaze to the deeper part of the Dragon's Lair.
There, a mountain of treasure was still piled up.
The red dragon had accumulated a lot of wealth.
Even after handing over the plundered gold from the Mocha Principality, the scale of wealth was still slightly more than Brian's.
