Chapter: 184 The Ironstone Line of Defense

The Baki Prairie, the Golden Alliance Army camp.

Brian and the Red Dragon were temporarily resting in an open area, surrounded by a group of formidable human Strong Ones.

Not only were there Spellcasters, but also extraordinary warriors with tall and burly physiques.

“Everyone, these two are the powerful True Dragons aiding the Golden Alliance Army, the Eternal Dragon, Lord Brian, and his follower, the Ashen Wing, Lord Roger.”

Matthew introduced Brian and Roger to the people around him with a calm smile on his face.

Then, he looked at Brian and Roger and introduced the human Strong Ones beside them one by one.

“Lord Brian, Lord Roger, this is the General Chief of the Golden Alliance Army, Coverdale. His strength is no less than that of an adult True Dragon.”

The heavily armored general nodded slightly, his expression hidden beneath his fully covered helmet.

“This is the leading Mage, a high-level Nine-Ring Mage, Lord Isaiah, who specializes in illusion magic.”

Brian's eyes moved slightly as he looked at the only Nine-Ring Mage present.

Isaiah was a woman with a youthful appearance, fair skin, a curvaceous figure, and wavy brown hair. She exuded an ethereal and elusive aura.

As for whether her age matched her youthful appearance, that was uncertain.

High-level Spellcasters, if they wished, could maintain a youthful and beautiful appearance even as they approached the end of their lifespan.

“This is...”

The people Matthew introduced were all at least high-level Seven-Ring Spellcasters.

In total, nearly twenty high-level combatants had gathered, forming a formidable force.

“The capital of the Emo Kingdom is just behind us. Once we break through their final line of defense, this year-long war will come to an end.”

“For this reason, regardless of the different countries and races you come from or your reasons for participating in this war, I hope you can unite and swiftly end this conflict.”

Isaiah said, her red lips parting slightly as she looked around.

Then, her glowing eyes turned to Brian and Roger, and she smiled lightly, saying, “As for the two True Dragons, it is already commendable that you are willing to aid the Golden Alliance Army. You only need to release your Dragon's Might and show your presence.”

“Of course, if you are willing to personally join the battle, we will offer more rewards.”

She said something similar to what Matthew had said when he invited Brian.

Brian and Roger did not respond, only nodding slightly.

After Isaiah finished speaking, General Coverdale, clad in heavy armor, took a step forward and said in a deep voice, “After careful deliberation, we have decided to launch a full-scale attack in three days.”

“Please prepare yourselves mentally and conserve your energy for the upcoming battle.”

“The remaining forces of the Emo Kingdom are few, but a cornered beast is the most dangerous. They are particularly perilous at this moment.”

“I personally hope that after the war ends, everyone here will still be alive.”

Moments later, the gathered high-level combatants dispersed to rest.

Brian looked up at the dim sky and, after a moment of thought, said to Roger, “You stay here. I'll fly up and take a look.”

Roger was slightly taken aback, then nodded. His massive fiery red body coiled up, and he lay down for a nap.

Whoosh!

With a gust of wind from his Dragon Wings, Brian soared into the sky, disappearing into the vast night in an instant.

A thick, viscous cloud of mist emanated from Brian's body, enveloping him and blending seamlessly with the night, revealing no trace of the True Dragon's presence.
Moving forward quickly, Brian looked down and saw a towering wall stretching for hundreds of miles.

The wall was black, made entirely of a material called ironstone.

Ironstone got its name because it was as hard as metal and had a certain resistance to magical damage, making it a good material.

The Ironstone Line of Defense was the last barrier between the capital of the Emo Kingdom and the Golden Alliance Army.

It was also where the Emo Kingdom had concentrated most of its military forces.

This Ironstone Line of Defense was built eight hundred years ago when the Emo Kingdom was still quite powerful. Many key areas were inscribed with indestructible rune formations. Given the current state of the Emo Kingdom, constructing such defensive works would be much more difficult.

“A full-scale attack in three days will be a siege battle.”

“Although the Golden Alliance Army is strong, they will certainly have to pay a price to take this place.”

Brian pondered as he looked down at the Ironstone Line of Defense from within the clouds.

On top of the wall were menacing ballistae, and tall, burly warriors patrolled back and forth. Occasionally, the figure of a Spellcaster could be seen.

“If it's just this, the Golden Alliance Army is sure to win.”

Brian observed the military strength of the Emo Kingdom from within the mist, shaking his head slightly as he made his judgment.

If there were no unexpected events, this war loot would indeed be easy to obtain.

No wonder Roger was so keen on war profiteering... Brian was beginning to understand Roger's behavior.

“Hmm?”

Brian sensed a few faint dragon auras.

His eyes narrowed as he looked towards the deep, dark forest behind the Ironstone Line of Defense.

True Dragons could easily sense each other's presence if they did not conceal their auras.

“Roger was right; the Emo Kingdom has indeed enlisted other True Dragons for help.”

He sensed three True Dragon auras.

He wasn't sure what kind of dragons they were, but the chances were high that they were chromatic dragons.

Other common True Dragons, like metallic dragons and gem dragons, generally stayed away from human wars and rarely got involved.

Given the current situation, when the Golden Alliance Army and the Ironstone defenders began their siege battle in two days, the True Dragons on both sides might pretend to be enemies and engage in a mock battle.

Thinking of this, Brian couldn't help but chuckle.

He didn't linger any longer and turned to leave, his Dragon Wings propelling him back towards the Golden Alliance Army's camp.

However, before he could reach his destination, a massive golden dragon, over twenty meters long, entered Brian's field of vision.

“A gold dragon?”

“No, it's not a True Dragon. It doesn't have any dragon aura; it's just a facade.”

Brian was initially taken aback, then quickly identified the strange 'gold dragon.'

Although it was his first time seeing it, Brian sensed a familiar scent from it.

A human scent.

“Lord Brian, it seems you had doubts about my words.”

“Now that you've seen the Ironstone Line of Defense, what do you think?”

The golden dragon spoke in the Common Language.

Matthew's voice reached Brian's ears.

This high-level Eight-Ring Transmutation Mage had mastered a spell to transform into a gold dragon. Although he couldn't become a real gold dragon, his transformed appearance and size were certainly not weak.

“If there are no unexpected events, the Golden Alliance Army will break through the Ironstone Line of Defense in a few days.”

Brian gave his candid assessment.
