Chapter 21

Jasmine

"Thank goodness that you came to save me." I murmured and he just hugged me tight.

We remained in each other's embrace until I noticed Charlie getting up from the ground and he was holding a flower vase in his hand. My eyes widened when I realized what he was about to do.

"Romano!" I screamed but it was already late as Charlie struck the flower vase he was holding on Romano's head. I was shocked by what Charlie did but to my greatest surprise, Romano didn't seem to care how he hit him with the flower vase. He stood up, kneeling in front of me and then turned to face Charlie, he strangled his neck and lifted his body up.

"It seems like you don't know me well, dumbass." He said to Charlie.

I almost forgot that he is an Alpha and he is stronger than we expected him to be. He is so powerful that no one can beat him.

"Please release him, Romano." I said, although I am upset with what Charlie did, I don't want him to die in my husband's hand. I am sure he will learn his lesson now and stay away from me. He won't dare to disturb me anymore because my husband will kill him if he does.

"Are you still defending this dumbass, Jasmine? Despite what he did to you but you see,he deserves to die for laying his hand on you." He said as he looked at me with blazing eyes and I knew that he was really mad at Charlie's actions. But what I care about at the moment is that I don't want him to die in my husband's hands.

He released his grip on his neck and he fell on the ground. I watched him as he caught his breath. Romano grabbed me on the wrist as he pulled me out of the room and that is when I realized we are still on a boat. I never dreamt that a day like this would ever come where I will be begging my husband to spare the life of the man that shattered my life into pieces in the past. But how did they know I was in the resort in the first place?

"Don't even think that I was defending Charlie. I was doing that because I don't want you to kill him because of me, I hope you understand the situation." I said to him but he seemed not to care about my words as he continued walking to where his boat was.

He didn't even talk to me and I just heaved a sigh. This man is so moody but despite that, I was still happy that he came to rescue me on time when I needed his help. He always saved me from dangers and the feelings I have for him keep growing. We got to his boat and yet he still wasn't speaking to me. I couldn't help but be annoyed.

"Can you talk to me?" I can't understand you!" I exclaimed and he just stared at me with his blank expression.

"For what, I saved your life. Isn't that enough for you to shut your mouth?" His words hurt me and I bite my bottom lips to stop myself from sniffing.

He always changes his mood from time to time and I can't seem to understand him. His attitude is complicated to deal with. To avoid arguments, I shut my mouth and decided to move to the other side of the boat.

"You are so complicated to read." I murmured as I lowered down my voice so that he couldn't hear me.

"Stop getting me upset, Jasmine. You are just my replacement mate." He said and it looks like I was slapped on the face with those words.

He is right after all, I am just his replacement mate. I shouldn't be a burden to him in the first place. I should have it at the back of my mind that I am just his replacement mate and whatever I do, I can't replace his dead mate. He became this heartless and lethal because he lost his mate.

"Yes, I know." I said, trying to calm my voice in order to not burst out crying. He saved me and I am just his replacement mate. That is the only thing I should have at the back of my mind.

"Don't ever think that I would fall in love with you. I saved you and acted nice towards you just because I was obligated to do so." He said, I can't stop myself from sobbing. No matter what happened, I won't ever let him know that I have fallen deeply in love with him.

"As if I love you." I murmured.

In just a few minutes, we arrived at the resort and everyone was waiting for us, even my friends. They all looked worried and Romano still refused to speak to me. I watched him walk away without saying a word to me. I bit my lower lips to stop the tears that were threatening to fall from my eyes.

"Are you alright? Did Charlie hurt you?" Khloe asked and I turned my attention to them.

"Don't worry, I am fine now." I replied and they looked at me with their serious faces. I am sure that they were thinking about me and Romano.

"What happened between you and Alpha Romano?" Nina asked and my heart saddens because of her question.

My heart shattered every time I remember him. It is so painful to think that I have loved a man who can't love me in return and I realized that I have no difference with all those his mistresses.

"Actually, our marriage is just a contract. My parents pushed me to marry him because of his Pack." I said and thought that there is no need to hide the truth from my friends. They will definitely learn about it so why don't I tell them myself so the pain in my heart would lessen a bit.

"We all knew that. Knowing how Alpha Romano is, it is way hard for him to love someone else. We know his story and how obsessed he was with his dead mate." Khloe said and tears streamed down my face. I can't realize that I am such a fool for loving a man who can't fall for me. Who am I to compare with his dead mate? Who am I to be loved by the powerful Romano Kelvin.

"You love him, don't you?" Nina asked and I looked at me with my eyes full of tears. They wiped the tears from my eyes and I nodded, responding to Nina's question.

"It is alright, Jasmine. Just don't stop your heart from loving him, who knows, a day will come and he will learn to love you back." Khloe said and I shook my head, disagreeing with what she said.

"No, he won't love me back and I know sooner, he will end our contract. Maybe waiting for that moment is what I can do now." I said and they all heaved a sigh before responding.

Maybe this is my time to forget my feelings for him. I try my best to remove him from my mind because he is only making my heart shattered to pieces.

"That is enough, let us not talk about Romano now. We came here to celebrate so let's enjoy our four days vacation." Khloe said and I forced myself to smile even though I was still hurting.

She is right, I should enjoy my stay here in the resort and forget about him. It was almost night so the four of us went back to our respective room to change to something lighter as we planned to swing at the pool. I got to my room, still deciding on what to wear. Wearing something revealing made me doubt but when I remembered Romano, it agitated me to wear this bikini swimsuit that Khloe gave me.

A bright idea came into my mind as a smile curved into my lips for thinking some foolishness. I came up with an idea of irritating Romano but the problem is that, will I achieve my motive? He doesn't care about me and definitely, he won't care about the clothes I am going to wear.

"Let's give it a shot. Let's irritate the demon Alpha." I said to myself as an evil smile formed on my lips after saying those words. I didn't waste any time as I wore a sexy swimsuit and stepped out of my room. I saw my friends already waiting for me. The moment they saw me, their mouths widened seeing my body and I couldn't help but blush.

"You are so gorgeously hot and breathtaking." Nina said and I just smiled in response.

We walked towards the pool area. It was seven o'clock in the evening and everyone was enjoying swimming at the pool even in the sea. I wandered my eyes around the surroundings but I couldn't find Romano and his companions. Maybe he left already and I don't care.
