"I promise you that, Evelyn. So that means, your killer is a woman?" I asked and she nodded her head.

"Yes, she is a woman, Romano. A psychopath killer and she will bring so much chaos to your life. Don't worry about me because I am not upset with you when you remarry. Perhaps I am so happy that you opened your heart, I am so happy that you were able to overcome your pain and love again." She said as she caressed my face. I felt her warmness the way she caresses my face. This is truly real and not just mere hallucinations. I am really talking to my dead mate at the moment and she is in the body of my replacement mate. This appears to be shocking to think about.

"I am deeply sorry, my sweetheart, that I failed to protect you. The moon goddess knows how much I tried to save you. Your loss makes my life miserable, I became a ruthless and lethal Alpha after your death." I said as tears streamed down my face and she wiped them off with her hands.

"Don't blame yourself, Romano. You have done your part, the love and care you showed to me when I was still alive is enough for me. I am delighted that I was given a chance to talk to you again. The mood goddess allowed me to show up to you but in this way. I am sorry if I used your new mate's body just to speak to you but it is also the choice of the moon goddess because Jasmine is also a kindergarten woman." Evelyn said.

"Can you request the moon goddess for her to make you alive again?" I asked her and she chuckled.

"It is impossible, Romano. We cannot revive a dead person and also I am happy with my new life now. I am far from pain and suffering now. Please, I would like to request a favour from you. Love your new mate the same way you loved me in the past and always protect her at all cost." She said to me.

"I promise you, sweetheart, that I will do my best to find those that were killed and they will be dead when I find them. I will kill them the way they killed you and that will make me feel better." I said as my jaw clenched. Evelyn caresses my face and it made me stare at her.

"I don't want you to kill, Romano. Just forget what happened in the past and help us, please." She said and it made me stare deep into her eyes.

"What kind of her?" I asked her.

"Jasmine and I were in great danger. Whatever happened, please don't ever believe them. Just trust your new mate and remember that the real Evelyn died a long time ago. Don't let them fool you." She responded to me.

"Who are they? Please tell who they are, Evelyn." I said to her but she sighed instead.

"I am running out of time, Romano. I need to leave Jasmine's body or I will be forever trapped in here and Jasmine's soul soul will never return back to her body." She said and I heaved a sigh.

The more I wanted Evelyn to stay, the more I am scared to lose Jasmine. I am confused about whom to choose. I wanted Evelyn to stay but how about Jasmine, love her so much as well.

"I don't know whom to choose." I said to her and she cupped my face and it made me close my eyes.

"You should choose your new mate, Romano because she is now your present. You shouldn't be choosing me because I was already dead. Take good care of her and I am happy that she was the woman that the moon goddess pairs you with again, she is more deserving, Romano. Jasmine Philip is a kind-hearted woman, I swear that to you. Please always choose her side and love her the way you loved me." She said and my heart flattered because of her words. I couldn't believe that she was saying all that to me.

I was still in shock up till that I got a chance to speak to my dead mate. Evelyn was this woman I loved in the past, and her death made my life miserable and wasted.

"Evelyn, I promise you that I will do everything in my capacity to bring justice for your death. I won't stop not until I find those that killed you and please always remember that I love you so much and I am hoping to see you again in the afterlife." I said to her with my teary eyes.

"But as for now, Romano. Stay in this life and cherish every moment and second you spend with your new mate. I am fine where I am now and stop worrying about me. I love you so much but I need to leave now, Romano. Just a reminder, don't ever trust the thing you only saw that is impossible to happen, always listen to your heart." She said and suddenly Jasmine's body collapsed on the couch.

Evelyn left Jasmine's body and it made me sobbed in pain. I am not yet ready to let her go, I wanted to spend more time with her but she ran out of time.

"She is gone, Alpha Romano." Maya said and she checked Jasmine's body.

"Can't be able to predict what happened five years back?" I asked her but she sighed instead.

"No, Alpha Romano. I am trying to check the cause of Evelyn's death and also the person who killed her but I really can't foresee it. My apologies." Maya said as she bowed her head and I just took a deep breath.

"Time will come when I will find out who it was that killed Evelyn. I promise to give her justice because she deserves it." I said to her as I clenched my fist.

"I understand, Alpha Romano but a little reminder, don't forget that you have a new mate now. You should always protect her even against yourself." She said and I lift my head to look at her with my curiosity

"What do you mean?" I asked her.

"Jasmine is alright now, Alpha Romano. I need to leave because I am also running out of time. If you ever need my help, don't hesitate to reach out to me." She said and then walked away.

I was still confused about the words she said earlier but she left without giving me a proper response. I was about to follow Maya to get some answers when someone called my name and it made me turn back. Jasmine is now awake but I can't face her because I remembered Evelyn and it was hurting me.

"Romano…." She called and I really wanted to hug but I stopped myself. Maybe I needed time to digest everything and then I left Jasmine without saying a word to her.

Jasmine Pov

The moment I opened my eyes, Dennis was who I saw. I roamed my eyes throughout the surroundings looking for Romano but I couldn't find him. I got up from the couch to even look for him.

"Romano…." I called his name but no one answered. Where is he?

"Miss Jasmine, we are glad that you are awake now." Dennis said and my face turned to him. I have no idea of what happened to me and I can't remember anything.

"Where is Romano?" I asked him and he sighed before responding.

"He just left a while ago. Don't worry, Miss Jasmine because he will surely return. Don't you remember anything?" He asked and I just furrowed my brows to him. I was also trying to remember what happened but it was weird because I couldn't remember anything.

"No, I don't. What happened, Dennis?" I asked him and he averted his gaze away from me which made me confused. It was as if something happened which I needed to know.

"Maybe you ask, Alpha Romano when he returns because I have no right to intervene in his personal life, Miss Jasmine." He replied and I just sighed.

"I understand, please if Romano returns tell him that I am in the room. Maybe I need to take a nap again, my body feels tired." I said and he just nodded his head.

I went back to my room and laid on the bed the moment I entered. I fell asleep in just a few minutes. The next morning, I woke up realizing that Romano wasn't by my side. He didn't even sleep here and it saddens to me to know that.

"What happened to him?" I asked myself and heaved a deep breath.

I was still thinking about what might have happened last night that caused him to act weird again but I don't remember anything. Possibly he was just tired and I will talk to him later. I got up from the bed to do my morning routine. Taking my bath would help me ease all the doubts away from my head. It took me about twenty minutes to come out of the bathroom, covering my nakedness with only the towel.
