Chapter 36
Chapter 36
Romano
"Watch your mouth, Nelson and don't worry about her, I will protect her with my life." He just smirked like he was not convinced at all.
"We are not done yet, Romano. Remember that." My fist was still clenched even though Nelson and his men had already left.
That bastard is making my blood boil. I knew he wasn't happy when I was mated to her sister but she chose me over her family. Their Pack was my greatest rival since but because of her, the conflict ended. And when she dies, they planned to end but they failed in their mission. I am the most powerful wolf among them and they can't beat me, especially my territory.
"Who is he,Romano?" Jasmine asked, I turned my attention to her.
"Nelson is the brother of my dead mate. He made my life miserable before but it is in the past now." she nodded.
"Maybe we need to go back home now." I furrowed my brows.
"Why?" I asked and she heaved a sigh before responding.
"Because this place is full of your dark history and I am scared that it might be the reason for your heartache again." She said with her worried expression and I can't stop myself from chuckling at her because she looks so cute with that face.
"Listen to me, Jasmine. It is okay and I am not feeling any more heartbreak now because you have already fixed my broken and messy life. Don't you want to see my surprise for you?"
"What is the surprise, Romano?" She asked with her excited reaction, I pulled her closer to me and embraced her.
"I am going to introduce you to my first mate." she pulled away from the embrace and looked at me disbelievingly.
"No way! I am scared, please I am not yet ready to face her." I burst out laughing.
"Come on, Jasmine. I am here beside you and don't worry about that, I just need to introduce you to her grave. I am certain that she would be happy to see you." She just sighed and nodded afterwards.
*********
Jasmine Pov.
I wandered my eyes throughout the surroundings where Romano had lived before. This place is more crowded compared with where we live now. The occupants were wolves as well and the houses are modern. I think this is the main reason why wolves adapt to human being's way of living. I can't stop myself from feeling nervous about Romano's plan to introduce me to his dead mate's grave. I am scared that his wife's ghost would attack me for taking him away from her. Even though I didn't believe in ghosts, I just can't stop myself from overthinking. I was back to my senses when I felt someone kiss my cheek.
"That will wake you up from your deep thoughts." My face blushed.
"You are being naughty again." He grinned at me.
"No, I am just marking my territory because other wolves are staring at you."
"They won't come closer to me because you are with me."
He grabbed my waist as we were just strolling in this long way that I don't understand but it is good though because I am walking with the man I love.
"They shouldn't because if they have the guts to approach you, I will rip off their heads."
We continued wandering in the street until he suggested that we should ride a carriage to where his dead mate was buried. As we were getting near the place, I could feel my heart pounding profusely in my chest. He was still holding my hand and I knew he noticed my tension because of the way he held my chin.
"Are you nervous?" I nodded my head responding to him.
"You don't need to be, Jasmine because I am here beside you and one thing, my first mate is dead so she can't see you or harm you."
"Yes, you are right but she can still hear me. I am scared that she will get mad at us, Romano. She might be furious that you replaced her."
"Listen to me, Jasmine. Everything will be okay, I promise you that."
It seems like his words calmed me a little bit. I hugged him and stayed in his embrace till we reached the graveyard. He helped me out of the carriage and wrapped his hand around my waist as we walked to where his dead mate grave was. I took a deep breath as we arrived at the grave.
"Evelyn Kelvin." I murmured and then felt the strand of my hair stand on end as I read her full name. It was weird because I felt something strange about it.
"Hi, Evelyn. How are you in there? I am sorry if I failed to protect you and I am deeply sorry because I haven't given you the justice you deserve yet but I promise you that even though I have found someone else, I will still seek justice for you." I was listening to Romano saying those words to his dead mate.
"I also wanted to introduce to you my new mate, her name is Jasmine Philip." He added and as soon as he mentioned my name, it started raining heavily and it scared me to death.
"It is raining, Romano." We ran back to the carriage.
It seemed so odd that it started raining immediately Romano mentioned my name in front of his dead mate's grave. What does that mean?
"Are you alright?" I nodded my head responding to him. My whole body was wet because of the rainfall and we didn't bring any extra clothes.
"She is angry at us, Romano." He grabbed my hand and then looked me deeply in the eyes.
"I don't care, Jasmine. She is dead now and what matters to me at the moment is you. She is my past and you are my present. So I would only take care of my present." His words melted my heart.
"The rain seemed strange,Romano. You mentioned my name at her grave and it started raining immediately even though it was still sunny."
"Let us not talk about it. We should go back home now."
He rested his head on the headboard of the chair and closed his eyes. I let out a heavy sigh and then focused my attention on the road. My eyes were wandering around as the carriage roded.
My eyes widened when it caught someone and it made my heart skip a bit. I saw a strange girl and she was smirking at us. She is so beautiful and her face seemed familiar. It confused who she was actually smirking at, me or my husband? Did she know Roman?
"You can rest, Jasmine and don't worry because I will watch over you."
I turned my head towards Romano and then shook my head to wash the thought of the strange girl off my mind. Maybe I am just hallucinating, I rested my head on Romano's massive shoulder and then closed my eyes. I fell asleep in not quite long.
I felt someone poking my face and it made me open my eyes. The handsome face of my husband is what I saw and I grinned at him.
"Thank goodness that you are awake now." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Where are we now?" A smirk curled on his face.
"We are already at home, Jasmine and I was planning to carry you into the house if you didn't wake up." my face was already blushing.
"You are so mean, Romano." I murmured as I stepped out of the car and I could hear him chuckling.
I saw an unfamiliar car parked in the park area and I became furious. I was about to walk towards the car when Romano grabbed my waist and it made my heart pound faster in nervousness.
"I love you, Jasmine." I brightened my face.
"I love you too, Romano." I replied and he took my lips again as I hung my hand on his neck while his hand wrapped around my waist. It is as if we didn't care if someone might see us kissing, all that matters to me and Romano is lusting in each other's lips because we love each other.
