Chapter 107

'Don't look back . . . keep running!"

Those are the words that keep on hunting his dreams.

That night when they have completely loss the people who was chasing them they are worried about Hiro . . . his twin. He had make himself as a bait. And now as they wait in the bush and the night had already fallen he still hadn't make it back which makes their mother worried sick.

'What were you thinking with your twin brother?" she exclaimed and there was anger in her voice as she grips her hair and pulled it like she was about to get crazy.

Haku was afraid to approach her but he understand why she was acting that way because she is a mother. He wipes his tears away using the edge of his sleeves and sniff.

'That was our plan mom, and it did work because if we won't do that then the three of us will be caught," he said and his mother looked at him with sadness in her eyes and she couldn't believe that her own children know such a thing.

Where could they possibly inherit that kind of trait? She couldn't help but to blame herself because she knows it runs into her blood because she was once an assassin and now she is all paying all of her debts in every person that she have encountered in her life and people she had killed. And now her own children is acting the same way she is and before she completely loss her mind she wanted to kill Simeon for being such a brat and his true colors had shown up but he wasn't like that before. There was so much love in his eyes as he looked at her and at the same time she was thankful of what she was before because of her instincts she wasn't a fool not to feel the time he had showed up his different interest. But the thing was she didn't even act or fight for her own kids because she was afraid that she might kill somebody and they will see it and what will become of them? In the end she lose her other child and she promised to herself that she will hunt down Simeon whatever it takes.

From Haku's eyes he sees desperation and frustration but he had to make her calm because that is what Hiro was always telling him, they shouldn't make their mom think of such things that would make her worry. But right now he doesn't know how to make her calm.

He was fidgeting as he walk near the direction of her mother because they were still into the deep of the woods and the only light that was guiding them was the moon. It looks like they were in deep of mystery because if the full moon image.

'Mom, I think we should go now and Hiro promised that he will come to find us . . . he promised mom and I also promised to him that whatever it takes I will take care of you," he said in his low tone of voice enough for her to hear it and she slowly turn her head to his little child and couldn't help but to embrace him.

She cried in his shoulders and Haku promised to himself that he will be the wall to lean on and he will hold his promise until his death. For a young mind like him his mother couldn't even be proud of all.

They have make their way out safely into the deep of forest and decided not to go back to their home instead they sleep at the end of the forest with the help of the tent which her mother had with her in her bag because Francisca always have complete things whenever she smells trouble but it was a long time since then she had some and right then her child needed her and she promised herself that she will protect him and will find Hiro and lastly will hunt down Simeon.

First thing in the morning they have left but before that Francisca had cooked their first meal for a day which makes Haku amazed because he didn't know that her mother was a girl scout in everything. He and Hiro was also a boy scout but it was his first time to see a ground that was smoking and before he knows it her mother had it shovel slowly with a stick and was surprised to see eggs in it. She had it cooked there and some meat and bread. He was completely amazed that he couldn't help but to clap his hands as his mother put it in front of him and all along her mother was carrying in her bag a metal plate with a cover which she had used to cooked for their food.

'Amaze huh?" her mother said as she smiled and handed him the peeled boiled egg and it was smoking hot yet he holds like it was nothing and immediately eats it and his moth was also smoking in hot.

'Wow, mom, I didn't know you could do such a thing," he said while munching the egg in his mouth.

'I haven't cooked us a rice because we don't have enough water but this will do for us just not get hungry in our way of walking. We only have three bottles of water enough for us to drink in our way, Haku. So can you do the walking?" she asked and he nodded his head with such eager in his eyes.

As soon as they finished their food, Francisca cleaned all the things including the fire which she had it buried again for no one will be able to track them. As they take their walk Haku was just following her mother and even though they are now safe he couldn't help but to think of his twin, Hiro, of how is he doing and what had happened. He was still holding to his promise that he will be back soon. He was having a feeling that he was somewhat in great danger as he placed his hand to his chest he knew and could feel it.

IT WAS then dawn and they have been walking for how many hours and even though Haku was already tired they shouldn't be stopping because time for them was important. Her mother had told him that they will be going to his uncle and they will be safe there it was a long walk but it will be worth it and because they don't have a single penny with them they don't have a choice but to take a walk. Her mother was also asking him if he was tired already so they take rest but he always answers her that he isn't.

'It's already near at night we should stop here," her mother said as they stop from a bush where there were tress that was somehow far away from the city and the streets. They have taken the path where they can freely walk and no one would see them.

Francisca knows how to survive she was confident to it but even though he knows all of those she couldn't help but to be also worried about Haku because she know he was somehow weak when it comes to walking but he shows him that he can which she was proud of him of being brave in such a young age.

'We will stay here, mom?" he asked as his mother prepares their tent again.

It was near at night and when Francisca finishes she opens a bottle of water and handed it to Haku and ask him to drink of at least half of it but he shook his head telling that he will drink after he had eaten which makes her smile and nodded. So Francisca prepares their meal she had seen it coming as soon as she sees the eyes of Simeon and that was she was trained for because eyes never tells a lie and you can read people in their eyes.

As they were done eating and was about to sleep when Francisca notice something which was like someone was secretly watching them from afar. Francisca quickly put the fire down and hushed Haku and they were standing still waiting for any noise that would come for them but there was nothing but Francisca wasn't felt relieved because she can still sense danger. Minutes have passed and there she had heard a noise walking near them and she could tell that it was man because of those footsteps that he is making in the dry leaves.

'Francisca, or should I call you Miranda Venezuela," a voice called and she couldn't see his face because of the darkness.

Pertaining to what she feels and from the aura of the man in front of her she could tell that he was something and far more dangerous.

'Even though my men could take care of the two of you I decided to take care of this mess all by myself thinking that I would face the greatest weakness of my enemy makes me crazy," he said which sent shivers down to her spine.

She had heard that voice before and if she wasn't mistaken it was the voice of once she had planned to kill before because of the order of her master but she failed.

'Interesting to see you again . . . you nearly gotten me killed that night and I was impressed," he coldly said but she can sense that he was smiling as he said those words.

That night Haku, was terrified because he could see men slowly approaching their place and they were surrounded. Her mother had fought every men that would go near them which looks like they couldn't be seemed to lessen because they keep on approaching. Haku can sense that her mother was gone tired and because she was also wounded deeply right into her legs and was bleeding so much which makes his heart squirm in pain as she see that her mother was determined to keep them safe.

'Mom," he called and her mother turn her head to him and a smile was shown into her lips it was weak that didn't even quite reach her eyes.

'Haku, please close your eyes," she said and her heart was squirming in pain as she wanted to scream at the top of her lungs of what they have become right now and she knew that it was already the end of her life but she wanted to live because her children had no one to rely on and they are still child and they needed a mother.

A mother to rely on because they don't have a father to their side anymore and it was only her. She screamed at the top of her lungs as she run into those men and killed them. But it wasn't enough because they are still standing and there are so many of them.

Haku closes his eyes but in any seconds he opens it because he doesn't want to take his eyes away from his mother. If only he could fight them too but he was still a child and have a fragile body. He was mad at himself because all he could do was to watch and he saw the man that had spoken to his mother that is currently looking at his direction. From what he have heard from those men they called him Father and the reason was he doesn't even know but it was making him question things from his little young mind.

'Haku!" his mother called at him to which he had looked for his mother right away and found her that she was already lying on the ground and he was about to run to her when she gestured him to stop.

'M-mom," he called with a trembling voice and shaking hands and legs. All he could see was doom and there is no escape from there on.

It was like he could picture them in the cage of lions. Tears were starting to escape from his eyes and his lips were already trembling as he keeps calling his mother and he doesn't know what to do. He looked at everyone and ask them for help but no one dare to help him and just stare at him.

The man they called Father lifted his hand which makes his eyes widened because he was holding a gun and was aiming to his mother.

'Close your eyes, Haku," his mother said in weak voice.

Haku cried and run to his mother and before he could even get near to her a loud bang echoed and her mother was shot. He stops from his tracks and just stood there frozen to his feet as he stares at her mother swimming into her own blood.

In his young age he doesn't know what to do and what to feel because of his mix emotions. He wanted to scream but he couldn't, he wanted to run but couldn't, he wanted to fight but how?

'Young man, this is what you get," he said as he gestured his mother. 'From betraying a person who have helped you a lot," he added as a smile crossed in his thin lips and then he see his bare face.

Francisca was a hired assassin of Gambit way before and that was her first work which she was paid a lot and all of her debts was paid because of him. She was an orphan girl but she escape from that place and face the world all by herself. She then discovers of the world truly is and she learned how to survive herself and how to fight. She was then seen by Gambit when she was bullied by a group of male and she manage to fight for herself and all of those men was gone to hospital and then she was offered to work for him and she didn't have a second though of agreeing because of the sum of money that was also offered to her. She had been working for him for how many years and then one day Gambit wanted her to resign being an assassin for an unknown reason but she doesn't want too because that is the only thing that she knows all of her life. Then a day came when someone hired her and because she needed a money to pay the bills for the hospital where her father figure was confined. He was the one who help her in the streets and had given her food when she was staring and shelter when there was a rain and storm so when she heard that news that he was confined and needed to be transferred to ICU and was in immediate surgery there is a large amount of money was needed before the procedure should be done and knowing him he doesn't have any relatives and he was only living by himself. She immediately take the offer of someone and her assignment was to kill a man but his name was not stated but she didn't care. That night she started her task and before she could even know it and she nearly killed him she learned that it was Gambit. She didn't explained herself instead she had run, run away from that place and by tomorrow she had sell all of her belongings, her house, car, and jewelries, and paid the bills in the hospital and after that she left.

Haku didn't know what to and where to go that time and he thought it was his end too but he was wrong. Gambit had abducted him as he learned that he was smart he decided to keep him.

When Mr. Gambit died and Haku was already adult Vega on the other side wanted to erase him in the world and in order to do that he had to make him the sample for his first experiment which his father had introduce him. After that he had become a monster and had been part of the wall but what's hurting most was he wished him being a monster also had erased his memories but in his condition he had to penetrate every flashing memories he had and had to live with until he dies. He feels useless because he couldn't even fight for himself until now and how could he if even just a step of his foot he to penetrate the pain that was induced to him . . . it was a tiny microchip that would sent an alarm if he had put any sign of escaping.

He had been feeling weak for now for how many days and he was somehow thankful and happy because he knew his ending is getting near which he couldn't wait to get rest in peace. Because there is no use already of being alive in that kind of situation and if ever there will be a miracle then what is the use of living if his loved one were already dead. He believes his brother was also dead too the same as his mother. He was the only who had survived that kind of assassination and even though he had promised himself to hunt down Simeon maybe he was dead because of how many years had passed by.

'Hiro, maybe I will be the one who will come for you . . . and mom I'll see you soon," he uttered under his breath even though there are no words that was understandable in his mouth and no one will be able to understand him it was okay because it was no use too.

Which is why when he had seen that twins he couldn't help but to see themselves like them. They were once like that helping each other and hand to hand never letting go of each other. They always takes care of each when someone was sick and even though they are twin and can feel what each other's feeling they are still there for each other to rely on. And when he saw Gunner crying hopelessly as he stares at his twin brother who looks like dying he haven't given up his hope and still find for an antidote even if it would cost his life. He admired his braveness because he didn't have any second thought knowing that out there, there are so many experimented and lunatic persons who are finding their way and once you bump into them they will not think twice to kill you or what's even worse is that they would even eat you.

But in their case the gods are on their sides and even though they couldn't feel it, Haku knows they will be able to get out soon and he is rooting for them.
