Chapter 39

It was a coastal evening Dr. Vega and his apprentice Dr. Brace were busy experimenting the serum after they evacuated Arizona after the ambush. Luckily the secretary that Dr. Ibiza bought with him survived and had already landed to her hometown with trauma but Dr. Vega doesn't care a bit unlike Dr. Brace that was concerned about that woman and that is why the reason she had landed safely to her hometown.

Dr. Vega still doesn't trust Dr. Brace because he still have the heart of being sympathetic to everyone who will be in trouble yet he is there with him planning all of the experiments. Even though Dr. Vega still couldn't trust him especially now that he had his two sons' being a captive in the building. He wonders if he knows it or just did not care at all.

A loud noise echoed the whole room which cause Dr. Vega looked at Dr. Brace who accidentally breaks the flask. He can see that Dr. Brace's hands were being shaky or being such a nervous doctor that he is from the first place.

'What happened?" he asked to Dr. Brace and he smiled wryly and shaking his hands that it is not a bother.

'It just slips," he answered and pick up the broken glasses out of the floor not even bothered that his left hand is now bleeding because of the broken pieces. He was like used into being bleeding or something. He was not focus and Dr. Vega observes that lately.

The soldiers are now in rest after the massacre in Arizona which alerted the United States and that is what he wanted and he wonders now what they are doing. Arizona is just in the boarder and it is impossible if they haven't heard any news regarding to his perfect soldiers.

'The President of United States surely evacuated first the citizens out there before facing their problem but could that be any of help? They should be thankful for us because we are bringing what is the best for them. This world needs cleaning souls and they should be honored by it," he commented as he took a cigar out of his pocket and lit it with the lighter that was near in his table.

He pulled a stool and took a seat, sipped his black coffee and puffed a smoke.

Dr. Brace stayed in silence and just sit there looking at the midst of air. It was near in the midnight and the both of them is still awake.

He laughed at the face of Dr. Brace which caught his attention and scrunched his forehead as he stared at him.

'You are in deep thought Dr. Brace. I wonder what are you thinking?" he stated and puffed again a smoke.

Dr. Brace smiled and took a deep breath before replying back. 'I was just astounded by what had happened earlier. The soldiers were indeed all perfect and that was because of your years of experiments yet it seems to bother me all of those people who have dies. Some of them are innocents and-' He was immediately cut off by his words when Dr. Vega let out a small laugh until it become a sarcastic one.

'Are you making me laugh now Dr. Brace?" he thinly said just enough for him to hear it. 'From the very first place I didn't push you to stay this long and here you are sitting in that stool as you hear the agonies of the people who have lost their so called loved ones," he said as he took again a sipped of his black coffee.

He had no heart for the commoners like them. He was trained by his father and he will never forget those lessons that he heard from his lovingly father because if he breaks those rules then surely he will not be taking the step to where he is now. If he had been soft then all of this is just an imagination, just an illusion. But he had it hard and developed it in his brain summoned all of it and taken what he is for the future and he seems like loving the gods above because he believes that even the gods are on his favor.

'Forgive me from what you have heard coming out of my foolish mind. Maybe this is just my first time to see that kind of death well except for all of those young boys in the company which our subjects in Project Wilson," he answered and stand from his seat and took a glass of water which was near him.

He took a big gulp until it was empty. Beads of sweats that was forming in his forehead earlier slowly fading away and that was the true identity of Dr. Brace. Dr. Brace is not yet fully furnished of being like Dr. Vega he still have a little room of softness and Dr. Vega knows that very well.

'I'll pretend that I did not hear it Dr. Brace. And this is why I have created that serum which will be soon be called Optus Zero so our soldier will have an immortality from now on. We will not be having again a hundred of dead that will be buried at the backyard of our company. Sounds fascinating right?" He said as he places the cup near the glass table behind him. The ash of his cigar is freely falling in the fall which he is still puffing out of a smoke it makes him calm by that.

A moment of silence took them before Dr. Vega spoke again breaking the silence barrier between them.

'Of course that serum is not as perfect as it is. The soldiers will also feel tired after battling for at least five hours in the field but what makes it perfect is that they couldn't be killed by just bullets, bombs or what in there. They will son regain their impact and fight again. For the resting time they will be charged for at least two hours and be back again in the field. And still I am working into that hours of charging them. It may take a lot of time and I can't risk any more soldiers to death," he said as he stands from his seat and walk near the glass window where he can freely see the coastal sea in the evening.

It was a full moon which makes Dr. Vega smiled at the sight of it. It seems like all of the events are in his favor and even the scenery is just so perfect for him. It was like a signal that tells him to go on with his mission.

Dr. Brace walk near his direction and tow names came out of his mouth which makes his thin dry lips formed into a small smile.

'So this is what you are thinking earlier huh Dr. Brace," he said and he heard him sigh.

'Are they in there? Are they one of the subjects?" he asked as he touch the glass window and stare at Dr. Vega.

Dr. Vega nodded slowly. 'Yes, the two of them are in there. But only just one of them is the subject and his name is Slasher. The other one is a stow away which Ibiza is currently searching for him and I bet he had him now. And I also believe that they are your sons, am I right?" he said as he begin to looked at him expecting he would be hysterical but he was surprised when there was no emotions in his eyes or so what.

'I see, but they are not my sons. I don't know who their real father are. My wife cheated on me I know that because I have this disease and not being able to get her pregnant. I am the only one who knows that, I didn't told her because I know what will she react and I don't want to hurt her. We tried to have a baby but nothing works out until one day I found out that she was pregnant and that gives me the way to be in here. I don't want to hurt her and that is why I leave the house and just come back there when I feel like it because I couldn't bear to see her and even those two boys," he replied which makes Dr. Vega taken aback but he didn't show it to him instead he smiled and nodded.

'So maybe they deserves this huh," he said and Dr. Brace nodded in agreement.

'You know what I adored that one young boy which I believe his name is Gunner. As far as I know and from what I have seen he had already been hypnotize the logo but he had fight for it. But I am sure that he is somehow feeling what the subjects are feeling I don't care. What amazes me is that he is still alive despite by his situation. And from what Ibiza's report he will be a great weapon by being one of the soldiers. And also that young boy names Slasher, also will be a great weapon because of his intelligence, they are young yet they are so useful. It is such a waste if we won't even use them," he said and Dr. Brace nodded and there was an excitement in his eyes which Dr. Vega saw in his peripheral vision.

He haven't yet do a background check about his wife and he will do it once they are home. They will be staying in Las Vegas for how many days before they come back to Japan.

'How long are we staying in here?" Dr. Brace asked and he can sense from him that he can't wait to get back to japan and see those two young boys.

Dr. Vega let out a small laugh and pat the back of Dr. Brace's shoulder. 'Patience now Dr. Brace we will get back as soon as we finish our business here. Tomorrow we have a meeting with Mr. Hiro Fushita who is the owner of the most well-known casino here in Las Vegas. We have a deal with him for a billion of dollars tomorrow," he said and clapped his hand and turn his back into Dr. Brace.

'Let us now get to sleep because tomorrow will be a great golden day for us and we can't risk any failure for tomorrow," he said and Dr. Brace agreed and began to walk wear the glass table is and too his glass where he had place it back earlier after drinking a cold water.

'You go ahead I just have to get my sleep here. I guess I have to drink a lot of red wines here before I can get my sleep," Dr. Brace said and Dr. Vega shakes his hand as he keeps on walking where the door is and grip the doorknob.

'Suit yourself there and just be prepared for tomorrow Dr. Brace," he said as he gets out of the room and only Dr. Brace was left in there.



Only the moonlight was the light inside of the room where Dr. Brace was. He slumped his tired body where a small couch is and he decided to just sleep there while sipping his red wine until he doze off.

'Slasher and Gunner, how are you kids? I still can remember your faces while I am leaving the three of you that night. The faces that I despise the most. I love you my wife but I haven't imagine you betraying me. How could you do that to me? Why did you cheat? Is it because I can't give you a child? I haven't told you about my disease," he whispered out of the thin air while gripping the thin wine glass until it break. The liquid slowly runs through his arms and he immediately throw the left pieces of broken glass in his hand and it is now again bleeding.
