Chapter 81
"I'll be going out tonight," he asserts, and Gunner grabs his arm, drawing Ross' attention to him.
"I'll come with you," he replied, causing Ross's head to shake slowly and Gunner's grip to loosen.
Ross sighs and says, "No, you need to be here guarding Slasher because we don't know what's going to happen next. Dr. Vega will figure out everything soon, and that priest is just buying us time to look for the secret exit," he said, and Gunner understood the point and assessed the situation, but he also wanted to see the escape route.
He wanted to see it for himself as well, but when Ross mentioned his twin brother, he weighed everything and was completely right.
Gunner had to keep an eye on his twin brother, especially in his current state, and check on him from time to time. They need to get out as soon as possible so Gunner can take him to the nearest hospital and give him some medicine so he can heal himself for how many days, and then they will fly out of their country and find a new home elsewhere.
"All right," he said as Ross took his place and slowly walked to the door, making sure that no one was outside walking or making that rustling noise.
As soon as Ross was outside, Gunner made sure that the door was totally locked and he even put the steel stool near the door so that no one could enter. After checking out that everything was clear, he then quickly checks on Slasher.
He slowly gets the cover and learned that Slasher was already awake as their eyes met. He almost got a heart attack as he opened it and Slasher was already staring at him.
'You are awake," he said as he looked at him smiling and he returned the gesture.
Slasher slowly moved his head like he was trying to give him a nod and he learned that he was somewhat still weak and he understands that. He wanted to kill Dr. Vega for making Slasher's life miserable. He wanted to do to Dr. Vega what he had done to his twin also and he is just looking for the perfect timing to do it.
Gunner slowly lifts him and carries him to where the bed is and carefully lays him there.
Ross looks at him and he was like he was trying to say something but he just couldn't and Gunner couldn't help but to be teary and he was about to wipe his tears away it was Slasher's hand slowly reaching and cupping his cheeks. Slasher was the one who wipes his tears away using his thumb and even though he was still weak and couldn't move like the he is, he still tries to do it for him. And they believe that what the twin feels the other twin could also felt it.
'Why are you crying?" Slasher asked with a weak voice and lay his hand to his side and Gunner grab his hand and kissed it gently.
Gunner sighs and looked at him, 'No, I am not. I am just heartbroken because of your situation right now I mean look at you. Look at what that monster had made you and I promise to you that I will avenge you," he said as he gritted his teeth and Slasher pampered him by brushing his hand and just smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
'Where is he?" Slasher asked referring to Ross of where is he.
'Outside," he answered and Slasher looks at him with full of questions in his eyes and Gunner wouldn't want Slasher to open his mouth again because he wanted him to rest more.
'He is outside looking for the secret exit that the priest had pointed out," he said and Slasher just looks at him and fro those eyes of him he already know what was running through his mind, 'Don't worry Ross got everything out and that is why he was the first one to go check on it and if you are still in doubt of Ross I understand that but he is a good guy. He is our cousin and his normal form is slowly getting back to his real him. A lot had happened here but I will tell you all of it and I promised you that," he said and Slasher slowly nodded his head and smiled.
'I know and I trusted your instincts in trusting people and I just hope that everything was running according to your plan," he said in a weak raspy voice and Gunner looked at him and smiled.
'At first I looked myself as a failure because I couldn't even save you without the help of anyone. I am a total weak and what if Ross wasn't there? How am I and you are going to survive here?" he said as his head bow and closes his eyes not wanting to get teary again because he could feel the tears are already at the edge of his eyes.
'No, no you are not. You are brave enough to be here and have gone this far, Gunner. You have gone this far, Gunner and I hope you wake up," he said and Gunner didn't know if he was just misheard him and look at him with curiosity.
'I think you need to rest," he said and places neatly the folded ragged sheet in his head as he makes it a pillow for him.
Gunner realizes that he needed to think of a plan on how he would carry out Slasher as they took their escape. He knows Slasher couldn't stand from his feet as his legs were shaky and he had been in that globe for how many months and his legs had gone much skinny for him to walk.
With his kind of weight he surely could carry him because he is just light weight. Gunner looked at the rag bed sheets right around the corner and have thought of an idea.
