Chapter 109

The Vice President looked at her wristwatch to look for the time and she couldn't wait until they are already to their designed destination. She couldn't help but to be worried but somehow impatient of the time because from what the Lieutenant said to her they will be arrived to their destination for ten to twelve hours. The choppers they are into now is much more upgraded unlike years before. And it is also because of the technology which came from Japan and Germany. So it could be used for a long distance travel.

She sighed as she sips the orange juice and she had already three glasses of it but didn't even take any food that was served for her.

'Ma'am Vice President, I guess you should eat because you will need it but if you don't feel like it then just think about what we are going to go. Just an individual could save one or three people but just save as much as you could because that is already worth it. Every one of us is important," he said as he stares at the plate that she didn't even touch and she felt ashamed because of it and just nodded her head.

After he left her and got busy with his paper that she didn't know what was that. She swallowed the lump that was forming at her throat and stare at the food that was in front of her it was not warm anymore and there is no oven to us for to make it warm. The food that she was about to eat was a ration of what the soldiers have whenever they are going to a place away from their country especially when it comes to war. The ration food includes a meat that has a carrots and potatoes that was in foil box that was heated up in something like a made stove for just a one use only. Includes is the ration package is a cracker which contains of at least three long crackers and thankfully it was tasty even though it is kind of hard to take a bite it was salty at first that slowly comes to sweet. And also there was a chocolate bar to appease the appetite of someone who is going to eat it and along with it is a pack of powdered juice and it was at least three packs of it which he had already drink it earlier and she must admit it was tasty because it was also sweet unlike from the appearance of the packaging which was completely blank.

Even though she had no stomach of eating the food that was prepared for her she tried to take of at least a bite because the Lieutenant was right after all because if she wanted to be in the team where they are going she had to had an energy to save whoever was in there and she also planned on taking even the dead one's because she will plan to deliver it to whoever their families are and who will ever claim it. Which is she had taken an empty chopper for that which she was also questioned and base from her answers the General was against of it because it will be just a burden for them and it will be heavier but she insisted to have one and just get what they could. Because from what she believes is that whoever had been died which she also wishes that no one but the General had told her to be opened minded because from the time that they have left they didn't already sent a signal and they should face the reality and not just by hoping and wishing because disappointment is the most hurting word that could be received by an individual. So she told him that if he was even in that kind of situation she will also do the same for him which makes him put to silent and just let her do what she wants to do but she only let her to bring just at least a chopper because it will also be the rescue chopper if they needed to.

She tried to eat what was in front of her which makes her get full easily but it is the right thing to do. It was almost near at ten in the evening and as she looked out of the window she was amazed that even the chopper had this kind of equipment in them that they won't be get lost even though it was already night and looking from below there are mountains and just a dark continent that was swarm by harsh winds.

'We are getting near," the Lieutenant said and she was somehow grateful because they are already near and it is also ten in the evening and from he had said earlier they are going to land in ten or eleven which makes sense because they are already near.

'Okay," she shortly said and gets her jacket and pull herself up to it. She looked at him and she notice that he was not writing anymore instead she is folding the paper which makes it looked like a letter and put it to his cargo jacket.

She couldn't help but to avert her eyes from him because it makes her heart squirm in pain because it looks like a farewell letter if she looks at it something like he had seen on television or movies and now she hated thinking of the thought and she will not make one because she is not saying a goodbye that it will be her end because she was also holding that promise that she had said to her husband and to her son and she had to kept it because they are there waiting for her. She had to live and she will never ever disappoint her family.

'We are here," said the pilot and the Lieutenant looked at her and nodded and she already knew the message of it and that is to prepare.

Her heart started beating and it looks like racing of horses and even though they are not quietly getting to the place that where is Dr. Vega and just going to land to where the other crews are waiting for them. They are going to get rest for a while and just wait for the time to get through the morning at exactly five in the morning. Even though they aren't still going to the place of where they should be she still couldn't help but to be nervous because she had also researched about that doctor named Vega Gambit and his histories are so many that some are just make-up stories and just for a fame and also from what her husband just told her through the phone it was just also a make-up story. She had seen this old article about Dr. Gambit which was his father and he was a multi-millionaire man but she hadn't have heard that name before. But according to the article which she have read and it was written by an anonymous person which she believes his name was Roberto Macu that was later on died after publishing that article because it had been a headline and have this statement that he was killed because of that article.

The article says that Dr. Gambit was using a person for his own experiments and he had killed so many person just for his desires and for his samples. After that he was investigated but there was nothing was seen in the his place and he wasn't prisoned because of it but there are people who believes that he was the one who killed those innocent people and even her believed that he was the one.

So the person they are going to meet is the son of a devil who is most crucial person that is now living in this world. And he was thankful because his father already died and it was also because of the Americans who had planned to kill him and she was sure of that because she had learned it from President Samuel who was just a Senator that time and she was too. She was against of it but she had nothing to do to fight because she was the only one that was against o it and even though she wanted that man to be dead on the spot she had this belief that there is something that is bad going to happen in the future but no one believes her because the future that she was telling them was Dr. Gambit to kill more of young men and they won't let that happen anymore because if the law doesn't see anything for him to get in prison then they will be the key for him to get him dead without no traces of evidence and they will make it looked like just a car accident.

She held her chest for it was squirming pain again because she was right for how many years had passed and this was the future that she was saying and now they are facing it and what was more is that they are facing such a catastrophe. They are facing a doom of the world which they don't expect that this would even come true to life because from what had happened to Arizona was a fictional happening that she always seen on movies or theater and even in comics which her son is fond into. But what she have seen of what had happened in Arizona and a lot of people had died and their deaths are indescribable because there was nothing blood into their bodies instead they are just lying in the ground pale as a paper as their eyes were wide open including their mouths and their skins were look like it was just slicked into their bones kind of look like they have no blood into their system anymore. Added from what the video that was sent to them which Joemar had showed to them that night was even more terrifying because she couldn't believe that in their generation there is somehow a monster was lurking around in there. A monster that was also made by a monster. A devil that was also made by a devil.

'We are here," the pilot said which makes her come back from the reality and they were already getting their landing in to a vast of fields and from what she is seeing she sees more tent was into the ground and the light that they were only using are lamps but it is not just an ordinary lamp because it could light up a house enough and it is easily to be turned off in that kind of mission they needed that.

She was already ready and she could feel their chopper already kiss the land means they have already landed after they quarter back.

Meanwhile the Lieutenant could feel what she was feeling right then when they were still flying so he didn't bother to disturb her for a while but as he could see that she didn't even touch the food which they have prepared for her which made him to approached her immediately because he thought she was just tired but it is not a reason for her for not to eat because the ration pack was important for them as a soldier when he was in the battle. And when it come to this situation regarding that they are going to an unknown beast they all needed an energy to go and if she will not eat the food then what will be her purpose to the mission that they are going to go? Maybe he will be stepping into the line because she is the Vice President of the United States but it appears that they are going into the most crucial thing because even he was worried about all of them and what was waiting for them out there. Which is even he had made a promise to his little daughter and to his wife that he will be back with no scratches but as they flew he couldn't help but to feel something like there is already a doom was waiting for them there. Out of his heart he had written a letter for them and he was holding back his tears because he knew that the Vice President was currently looking at him so he had to hold it back.

Every words that he had written in the paper was heavy which looks like the pen that he was holding was getting even more heavier but it is what it is. And from writing a letter he believes that the letter will be sent through them if in case doom will take over him.
