Chapter 55

Gunner blinks his eyes as he realize he had fallen asleep and he was about to get out from where he had been hiding when he heard a noise. He heart beat race as he was thinking it was Dr. Vega but he heard the familiar voice.

'Gunner, it's me," he said which made him relieved it was after all Ross.

Gunner gets out and shakes his hair using his hand because of the dirt of where he had laid his head.

'You were here?" he couldn't help but to ask because he might be there already for a long time and he just didn't even tell him.

Ross scratched his head causing Gunner to notice that the hair in his hand were starting to vanished and his normal skin are already showing up unlike before that he was so pale. 'Yes, sorry if I scared you," he replied which makes him shakes his head in answer.

'No, not at all. It is just that you should have called me," he said and smiled as he took a sit at the edge of the bed while Ross was sitting at the steel stool which he believes that it was his property.

Ross heaved a sighed and look at Gunner. 'You need a rest because we are going back there tonight. That is why I didn't disturb you," he commented as he handed him a loaf of bread and a glass bottle which the liquid color is white and Gunner believes that it was milk.

'Where did I get this milk? It was from my room but don't worry it is still okay. I have this because it was my snacks when I got here and have stock so many of this. But that loaf bread maybe it is now kind of hard but it is better than nothing isn't it? Just to have anything in our stomach. Here eat," Ross said which makes Gunner smiled as he gets the milk and the bread.

Because of his hunger and how long he haven't drink milk before it was as if he was famished and wanted more from it but he was after all thankful enough. He couldn't help but to shed tears and Ross also notice that but he just focus on eating. They understand that they are in a difficult situation and what do they need to do is just survive. Gunner immediately wipes his tears away using the back of hands and smiled.

'Thank you for this," he said referring for the food and Ross just smiled and nodded.

'Hey, you are getting back to your normal skin. Look the hairy in your skin are almost gone," he said which cause Ross to look at his arms and he was right. He haven't notice that and he remembered that he had drink of at least a bottle earlier. He smiled as he look at his skin it was getting back to normal of who was he really is.

'I haven't notice that," he commented as he looks at his arms.

Ross appearance was still slimy as he is but getting such a good news is what is more important for Ross at least there was a progress.

'Then we must hurry," he said which makes Gunner look at him questioningly.

Ross look at him seriously, 'Because if I get back to normal then we couldn't climb up anymore there. My ability to climb up to the wall will be gone," he said which made sense to Gunner. It was somehow a good news for them but he was right they must hurry before he gets back to his normal stage but because if haven't drink again another bottle then his heart will suffer the consequences.

There is always a time upon drinking the serum to keep the phase of his body in normal and he must not skip a time upon drinking it until he gets back to his normal stage. And if he failed then he will suffer the consequences of drinking that serum. And what will be the consequences? It was for him to find out.

'Then I guess drinking that serum should continue am I right?" he asked which Ross nodded. And it did make sense which is why he had get more serums back then. And that is also why that priest also gets at least two serums for him.

He couldn't help but to thought himself of how was the priest was going.

'I also believe that you also give this kind of serum to that priest right?" Ross asked which he slowly nodded which he hopes that there was nothing wrong about giving it to him.

'He is not that dangerous here but he will be if ever he comes out here," he replied which makes Gunner stands from his sit and looks worried.

'What have I done," he said and Ross just slowly shakes his head.

'You have nothing to worry about that because he is not in our way and as long as he isn't harming us then there is no need to worry it," he stated and Gunner sit at the edge of the bed again.

Even though Gunner felt conscience about what he had done. But he wishes that if ever that priest will do harm outside and if that is his mission he hopes he do not gets out of the building.

'What are our plans now?" he asked as he places the bottle of milk to the floor besides him as he drank all of it while still munching a bread.

As much as Ross wanted to plan things he just couldn't know what to plan because he believes that he wasn't good at it. All he had investigated is Dr. Vega will not visit his projects tonight because he will be gone again for a day. He mentioned to him that he will visit the President not mentioning why and he didn't bothered asking him because he will also make him mad if he do so. What is more important is they can do what they want for tonight.

'I don't have any plans, Gunner. All I have right now is an information that we will be free what are we going to do tonight for Dr. Vega will be going out again he said he will be meeting the President. I guess he have a great news regarding to his travel because he would not visit the President if he didn't closed any deal from his trip. If it is a good news for him then it is bad news for us and for the people outside. Considering that he had already attack the Arizona using those soldiers than we could call it doomsday for the world and for us," he stated which makes Gunner looks at him and imagining things of what the world would be if Sr. Vega rules in it.

Gunner wishes Dr. Vega will suffer consequences in the end of what he had do in the world and for the people whom he used and killed. He just wonders why does even the gods let him live a longer life and seems like the gods are on his side but he just hopes for the best in the world. Because if he lets his emotions run into him then he would be out of faith and he had given up for the rest of his life and just let Dr. Vega experimented him.

'I see that you are losing hope from the looks in your eyes but I am telling you now that Slasher is still out there wishing for you to save him. He have hopes for you," he said which makes Gunner even more disappointed to himself because he had given up already not thinking about his brother who is also suffering much pain than him.

'You're right and I am here full of complains and still whining like a goat," he replied and wanted to punch his face as he felt no sense. 'We are going up there again and I hope you could still climb up," he added and Ross nodded.

'I still can," he answered and shows his hands sticking to the wall. 'Look we still can and I guess it will be the last time so we must get things ready and stay focus once we got there and I hope we could get answers tonight. After that I will drink another bottle again and we expect that I would be soon gets back to normal," he added and Gunner smiled, happy to see him that he had gone to what he had imagined to be. Finally he is his sense.

'You mentioned that you and Dr. Vega talked that is why you have known that he is going somewhere thankfully he didn't notice your changes," he commented and Ross laugh a little.

'Which is why I dressed up like this only showing my face," he said as he referred to his jacket with a hoodie and a pants also not showing skins. 'Of course at first Dr. Vega was surprised but he didn't ask any more questions beyond that because his is too occupied of his business," he added which makes Gunner laugh also.

'What time is it now?" he asked as he have no phone right now to check the time. He also haven't wear his watch as he always does outside. He would at least have that.

'From the last I checked it is quarter to five and it is near in the evening now," he replied and Gunner realized that he had fallen asleep so long or maybe it was just a short time since he didn't know what the time really is.

'I have been meaning to ask you this but have you also gets out of this building if you wished too?' Have you seen the outside again?" he asked because he had been wanting to ask him since they got along together now.

'No, I am like everything everybody else here. It was not only me and the priest in here in this building and maybe you still haven't encounter Samson and the others. From what I know Samson is locked up in a cell because he can no longer be controlled by Dr. Vega but if Dr. Vega knows that I have betrayed him he will not have any second thoughts and I will be no longer surprised if he unlock him from the cell and targeted me but now it is. Samson is a dangerous man that Dr. Vega had experimented on. He is an English professor who teach in college and from what I know he is the very first subject that he experimented on and it failed that is why he is like that. And also the reason why he had been locked up because of what he did to your brother," he said which had caught attention of Gunner.

'What? What did he do to Slasher?" he asked with a worried tone in his voice. He couldn't imagine the situations that his twin brother had encountered since that day. If he just guard his brother that night then maybe they didn't get into this situation and also if they didn't get into this kind of situation then he would not meet Ross that is surprisingly their cousin and also about their father whom they taught that is dead.

'Horrible things that you wouldn't want to imagine but he had managed to survive that tragic things because he hadn't given up like he is right now even though those machine are slowly corrupting his brain and his body. Once he passed for at least nine months he would be the same as the others who had died," he stated which makes Gunner put into terror. He would not make his brother wait in that longer of time.

They had to be more extra careful after what had Ross told him.

'Okay I guess he is already out but we should still be very much careful because your father is still here," he said as he stands from his seat and place the bottle of milk to his side and gestured him to go out.

He was right his father was still there may be lurking around and he also questioned himself if he had ever check on his Slasher since he know that he is also a captive subject from the said project. He couldn't forgive his father even if he will bury to the grave. He is a devil person who could stand to look at his own son in a difficult situation and haven been experimented on.

They get out of the carefully and Ross had advised him that they should be doing a talk while walking to where his secret tunnel is. They will not take the path where they first use upon going down there because they might not know if Dr. Brace is there doing also his experiments.

'Even walls have ears too," Ross whispered as they take their walk.

Ross was right and Gunner didn't say a word in it. He must stay focus and should have keen eyes because they won't know what will welcomes them out there. And Gunner must admit that he is also afraid if that named Samson will about to show up even though he was lock up in a cell because ewho knows what will come out.

And even though he doesn't want or he isn't ready yet to meet his father there will be a day that their destiny will and shall cross and he couldn't change that because he had no controls in it but one thing is for sure their father in already in his list. A list to be killed and their father will be the last.

They are almost near and Ross nodded to him saying that they should be quick.

Gunner and Ross make their way as they crawled down and it was harder than Gunner thought because they should be very careful going down because there is a tendency that they would slip and they will fall. Gunner wouldn't want to have broken or dislocated bones because it might slow down their activities.

They had arrived to their destination smoothly without any bruises and Gunner was thankful with that but before they took their step to the floor Ross roamed his eyes to make sure that no one was there. And when everything was clear as a water Gunner immediately get to Ross back and Ross immediately climb up to the wall. They didn't want to waste any time.

Ross climbed to the as fast as he could and Gunner was okay with that he is not anymore afraid of height and he is way too focus in their mission.

'Jump," Ross said and Gunner nodded making a jump top the glass floor.

'Let's begin."
