Chapter 56

The only sound around him was the machine and then he felt conscious but somehow he didn't believe it because it may be just his hallucinations just like everything that he had always imagined. How he hates the hallucinations which how many times he gets his life into trouble. He always hallucinates that he had seen his twin brother and had escape to the building but all of those were just mere imaginations that he believes is Dr. Vega's doings. He doesn't know why but he is sure that the life of his twin brother is at stake.

‘What am I hearing?' he thought as his eyes were still close that even though he tried real hard to open his close he just couldn't because he have no force to do so. He felt like he was a dehydrated vegetable and about to get rotten. He couldn't even feel his feet and hands. He feels light weighted. He couldn't even feel his heartbeat he was like lifeless.

But still he can hear murmurs around and for him to think he is just hallucinating things he needs to wake up. Yet every time he wakes up he felt unconscious and wants to vomit because of the light that is striking to his eyes.

He couldn't count anymore of how many times did he experimented by that evil maniac man and he swear that he had seen their father and he was heartbroken by that because he had been siding him for the rest of life even though Gunner had said so many bad things to him but still he educated him not to badmouth him but he was wrong. He was cringing as he recalls what he had said regarding to their father that even though they have left them he is still their father. But from what he had witness he was also an evil. How can a parent sleep knowing that their children is in trouble and in front of him experimented? And even if he lives or die he will not forgive their father until he is on his grave.

And now he prayed from the above and even though he is already in that kind of situation he still didn't lost his faith above because they are the reasons why he is still alive. He prays that his brother is still safe and if he is there searching for him he prays about his safety.

His heartbeat race when he heard a voice that so familiar to his ears. He couldn't just imagine things because it was too real which is why the reason he wanted to open his eyes. And see if his twin brother is really but the question is does he have a company with him or he was all alone? Did Gunner already found him? If he did he bet that he is still searching of he would get him out of this stupid glass globe. Until now he is still blaming himself for so many things especially he was the reason for why they were here from the first place. He is also the reason why in the end will be the reason to put his twin brother in great danger. And how did he do it? He had emailed him. And why did he sent him an email? It was because his twin brother is the only one who can understand what is going on that building and he couldn't trust anyone that time even the government and he was too weak to try again.

He groaned as he felt his stomach throbbing in pain. He haven't eaten like ages which is why he is feeling a like jelly weak. The only thing that keeps him going is the dextrose that was on him. And he doesn't let himself die like the others. He have seen the young boys die in vain because they couldn't take it any longer. Yes there was a time that he had already lost his hope and everything but what keeps him going is that he believes his brother is going to get him but if ever he fails at least he had let his brother in at the building and make him witness the horror that is going on inside especially the exposure of Dr. Vega and also their father that deserve to be in jail and deserve to have a death penalty. He had promised himself that he won't even shed tears on him. Even though he is not yet sure if their father had already seen him still it won't change his perspectives about him. He still left them and no cares about their mother while he was just here enjoying his life in hell which he really much deserve in the end.

'Gunner," he slowly opens his mouth and felt his chapped lips and they are dry. He tasted some metallic blood which he was already used too.

The scars in his lips were still there. The scars which that lunatic man named Samson did to him. He swears to his grave that he would take his vengeance on him if ever he would get out. He would be the first one he is going to kill, next is Dr. Vega and lastly their father. He doesn't care if it is their biological father and it would do him a great sin from above he would suffer the consequences in the end and he understands that. His conscience will not let him sleep peacefully if he haven't do what his goal in his life.

All of his life he had keep in defending his father that full of maybe's and Gunner is the one who puts blame why their mother died and now he is cringing to part that he had defend their father for no reason and Gunner was right all along.

His hand were slowly forming into a fist but it wasn't tight as he wanted he just wanted to put force upon opening his eyes.

‘A little more,' he thought and there little by little his eyes were opening.

He stares from his right position and he saw a blurry person but his back was facing on him. His heartbeat quickened as he was familiar of who it was is which looks like he had look at his situation which is why he had walked in this way.

'Gunner," he called yet he wanted to shout his name but he couldn't. A tear escape from his eyes as he couldn't even shout he felt helpless.

'Gunner," he called again in weak tone of voice which even scratch his throat whenever he is talking or using force. And in the end he just watch his twin brother run as if he was running out of time.

He just wishes that his twin is safe and away from trouble. He just smiled as his tears still keeps falling. And he just lets himself be in the position.

He hopes that Gunner already know where the machines are operating and that is the floating office just above them. He doesn't know how will he get there but he was sure that there is a way and Gunner would be capable of finding it. He was full of hope to Gunner.

Slasher closes his eyes as he can't stand any longer when his eyes are open it is like the air is giving his eyes such acidity that he can't stay longer and much better if he just close his eyes. He wanted to vomit but he just couldn't because there was nothing coming out from his stomach. He feels like a retarded person and he hated it. He had so many dreams and he had promised their mother when she was buried that he will be the one who will be taking care of his twin brother and even though they are twins and just as the same age their mother always tells him to look after his twin because as far that she could tell he is the oldest even though it is only minutes.

How can he keep that promise if he was in that kind of situation? He still could remember what their mother had told to him privately that he is now hating himself for he again defends their father.

'Slash, listen to me. Your father is not going back and he already made it clear to me… to us. I hope you understand that, Slash. Stop this nonsense of celebrating the father's day because he isn't coming home. He hates us," she said with full of anger in his heart and just keeping herself calm.

'Mom, why are you like that? We don't even know the reason why he had left us. Maybe you are the reason why he had left us huh, tell me the truth mom. Are you the one who shove him away? I hate you!" he shouted and he found himself touching his cheeks that was flaming in red. He was slapped by his mother.

A tear escape from his eyes and he keeps on crying and crying and later on found that his mother was also crying as he hides her face using her hands and her shoulders were shaking. Slasher back then didn't know what was going on but seeing her mother like that makes him hurt. It looks like she had shouldered heavy things that only she can know and never had shared it to anyone. She had just keep it on herself.

'I know it from the start. I know why your father had left us," she said in a teary voice without even looking at him.

'He just didn't know that I know so one day I go to whom the doctor who had checked on him. It was my longtime friend and I urge him to tell me the truth. And I promised to him that I would never tell anyone. He didn't know who was that person who had talked to him but it was his family who is at risk that is why he had faked your father's results. The fake result was telling him that he couldn't produce enough semen that would get me pregnant. But what the truth is he could produce and will get me pregnant after all because he is normal and nothing is wrong with him," she said and even though Slasher couldn't understand all of it he is well aware of what it is because he loves to read and he had read that kind of article from his science books.

Slasher was smart and that is their mother had told him all about it. She knows he will soon understands all of it just to make him feel what he had been doing and shouldn't keep defending their father.

'And then one I got pregnant and that is the two of you. He maybe feel like I cheated on him because as to what he knows was he couldn't get me pregnant. I was about to tell him that day but he keeps on ignoring me. The next day I was ready to tell him and I could even call the doctor if I needed to. I can do it, I can do all if that takes him to come back into our lives but his ears are closed. And the one night he left us already and never came back," she said as he wipes her tears away and Slasher was there standing feeling numb from what he have heard.

He couldn't help himself but to think if she were telling him the truth. Slasher has this ability that he could tell a person if he was telling the truth or not while Gunner had the ability of having a photographic memory and they are an avid fan of detective stories.

As Slasher looked at his mother he could tell she was somehow telling him the truth and wasn't lying about it. And if that was the truth then their father had left them just like that? He could help but to badmouthed his father of just letting them go just like that, just as easy like that like he didn't even care and had not love their mother after all. A true man will go back when he had clear his mind and had gone calm and would hear the person out but as what his father's situation is he didn't even look back and not even thinking that he had sons.

'You didn't bother contacting him again?" he couldn't help but to ask. He needed to let go what his heart is telling him to do so.

'If it was just me I won't bother calling him again and searching for him but as I look at you two it looks unfair for the both of you. Because you two are still young and needed a father that would help you in your way. Every children needs a father and I came from a broken family and I know how it felt and I don't want the two of you feel what I have felt back then. One day I got to his office but his secretary didn't let me in and even the guards escorted me to go out of his office with a heavy heart and even though I don't want to look desperate I just couldn't… I cried in front of his office while people are looking at me with no care at all but it didn't matter, Slash. I don't care about those people but what most hurt me is that your father was just there standing through his window looking at me with no emotions in his eyes and closes the curtain. It was just not one time Slash, I go there every day and that had been a routine to me. They shove me away," she said and there was pain in her eyes as she recalls what she had experienced that day and her hands formed into fist causing her knuckles turns to white.

Her lips pursed yet her eyes were gain watery wanting to fall.

'I will understand if you won't believe me my son. I understand if you will feel mad at me. I will accept all of that. I have lost a husband but I won't let that even the two of you will be lost too. I will keep the two of you as my gems which is why I am working so hard to give your needs and wants. To send the two of you in a good school so when the time is right I would leave you when I am ready," she said and Slasher didn't understand the last sentence she had said but he just smiled and embraced her with a tight hug and tell her how sorry he is. He cried and cried in her shoulders and that is when the time that Gunner showed up with full of chocolates in his mouth and smudges of it in his face.

'Later if I will be gone in this world I would want you to keep an eye on your brother because you are the oldest," she said and slasher was about to speak when her mother's index finger place in his lips telling her to shut his mouth. 'Yes, I know that you are twins but you are the first one who goes out even just for a minute you are still the oldest. I want you to take care of your brother and help him as much as you can and he will also do that to you. The two of you are partners till death. And looking at your brother he will obey whatever you will tell him, trust me," she added and smiled after the last sentence.

Slasher was teary at her statement which makes him feel like their mother was now saying her goodbye that he couldn't explain what. There was an unexplainable feeling that his young mind couldn't process. She held her mother's waist so tight and bury his face and the last thing that he could heard are the footsteps coming in their direction and he was sure that it was Gunner.

'What's going on here, mom? Slasher? Are you being shouted at mom because I ate this choclates? Mom, sorry please don't blame Slasher because I have eaten the last box of chocolates secretly. I promised not to do it again, mom," he said as he pulled the hedge of her dress and she couldn't help but to smile as he she look at their faces. She had to be strong in the meantime because her children had no longer a father to stand beside them. She had to be a wall for them to depend on. And in order for her to do that is to be strong enough and work hard and smart. And after she checked that everything goes on her plan and sees her children is already doing well then could bid her goodbye to them for she wants to rest with all of her heartaches.

Their mother was depressed back then because he loves the man so deeply that when he had left she felt her world had torn apart. Depression was difficult to fight with even though you keep on telling yourself to move on and your surroundings is telling you to keep on moving and forget the past but every second that you are all alone even just for a second all of those memories will just cam flashing and you realize it was you is the problem. The problem was she can't accept the fact that the man she loves had already let go of her and she was the only one who was still not letting go. She was still in the stage of denial. She was depressed yet she was strong to hold into the fact that he children still needs her. But even though that image is in her mind she already promised to herself that she will be soon gone and to rest after her mission is finish.

'Nothing is wrong, baby. But again if you want to eat chocolates be sure to tell me first okay? Because it is unfair to Slasher if you won't share it with him right? Am I right?" she asked and Gunner just nodded his little head and came embrace her.

He looked at his twin brother, Slasher who is still sniffing from his cries and looked worried wondering what had gone wrong if it wasn't the chocolate is the reason. He keep it into his mind that he will ask him what the reason of it was he was crying later in their room.

'Boys, I want you to remember that even if your father have left us I will never leave you until I can. I love the both of you so much okay? So please don't mention your father again in our house so we could move on into our lives," she said which made Gunner looked at her full of question in his eyes and he was about to ask when Slasher hold his arms and shakes his head slowly telling to him that he should save it for later or just keep silent.
