Chapter 07 The Most Beautiful Woman

So, around noon, Nathan, Katniss, and I grabbed a quick bite together. After that, we hopped on a boat to this tiny island. Man, the place was stunning. Nathan and I were just strolling behind, while Katniss was darting around like a hyper little sprite, checking out everything with wide-eyed wonder. The island was gorgeous, but Katniss was getting a bit antsy.

"When are we heading back? I'm kinda worried about Simon. We've been out for ages, and I wonder how he's holding up," Nathan said, glancing at Katniss who was still running around. Once the initial excitement wore off, Nathan started fretting about Simon. I mean, Nathan's not as young and carefree as Katniss and me. He gets bored pretty quick.

"Dad, we finally got a chance to get away. Let's just chill and enjoy it. I'm always swamped with work, and it's rare to have some downtime with you," I said, throwing an arm around Nathan's shoulder. I've always noticed how hard he's worked over the years, and seeing his weathered face that looked older than his years, it hurt.

"Yeah, Dad, forget about the stuff at home for today. Life's short. If you don't enjoy it now, you'll regret it when you're too old to move," Katniss overheard us and ran back, grabbing my arm and talking to Nathan. Nathan suddenly stopped in his tracks, staring blankly ahead.

"Dad, what's up?" I asked.

Nathan relaxed, smiled at us, "Nothing... just got lost in thought for a sec."

Seeing Nathan's expression, I knew why he paused. It was that word "enjoy" Katniss used. Yeah, why not enjoy the moment? Nathan had held back that night, resisting the urge to enjoy Katniss's tempting body while she was drunk. He missed a golden chance. Now, thinking back, did he regret it? Katniss had no clue, but her innocent words nudged my plan for Nathan forward a bit more.

Before we knew it, we wandered into this sea of flowers in the middle of the island. It was a riot of colors, absolutely breathtaking. Katniss, like she found a treasure, dashed into the flowers, spinning and laughing. Nathan and I stood there, watching her. Suddenly, Katniss ran over, grabbed the laptop from my shoulder, and started fiddling with it.

"Hey, what are you up to?" I asked, curious.

"Shh, no peeking, it's a surprise," Katniss said, pushing my face away playfully.

Soon, she set the laptop down by the flowers, lifted her emerald green dress, and ran to the edge of the flower sea. The laptop started playing this beautiful melody, and Katniss began to dance gracefully to the music.

Katniss was on the etiquette team in college, and dancing was her thing. We actually met because we were dance partners. The music played on, and Katniss danced elegantly among the flowers, her figure blending perfectly with the vibrant blooms.

In that moment, Katniss seemed like a beautiful flower herself, with the colorful flowers acting as leaves, highlighting her in the center. Her dance moves were professional and graceful, showing off her best side to Nathan and me.

Watching Katniss's mesmerizing dance, Nathan and I were totally lost in it. Everything around us went dead quiet, and it felt like we weren't even breathing, just the music hanging in the air.

In my heart, Katniss was my wife, but I'd seen her beauty a million times. So, I snapped out of it pretty quick and sneaked a look at Nathan. He was still totally captivated, eyes glued to Katniss, completely entranced. His gaze was full of admiration, infatuation, and maybe even a touch of love.

Nathan's a simple guy, not as jaded as city folks. Seeing something so beautiful, it's no wonder he was so taken. Right then, Katniss was my beautiful wife, but to Nathan, she was the most stunning woman he'd ever seen, dancing like a dream.

Nathan was completely bowled over by Katniss's beauty. She'd carved a place in his heart, a love that wouldn't fade. That kind of infatuation, that kind of intoxication, I'd never seen it on anyone else's face before. But I knew if I didn't give things a little nudge, Nathan would keep this admiration for Katniss buried deep inside.

After about five minutes, the music stopped, and Katniss's dance ended. She ran back to us, holding her dress. I'd seen her dance before, but this one was new to me, so she smiled and asked Nathan, "Dad, how was my dance? Think I could win a competition?" She looked like a kid craving praise, eyes full of hope.

Nathan was still in a daze. Katniss looked puzzled, "Does that mean my dance was bad, and Dad's too embarrassed to say?" She looked bummed out.

"No... no, not at all. Your dance was amazing, better than anything on TV. Really great," Nathan finally snapped out of it, realizing he'd spaced out, blushing and stammering.

"Haha, Dad's blushing. Looks like my dancing skills haven't rusted after all these years. Feels so good," Katniss said with a sly smile, covering her red lips with her hand. Maybe she didn't realize she'd become the most beautiful woman in Nathan's heart, the one he was infatuated with.

On the way back from the island, Katniss and I were chatting and laughing the whole time. I kept an eye on Nathan and noticed he kept sneaking glances at Katniss, then quickly looking away. This went on all the way home. Surprisingly, Nathan, who'd been tired of the trip at noon, seemed to be still enjoying himself.

From the changes in Nathan's expression and eyes, I knew the first step of my plan was a success. The seed of desire in Nathan's heart had sprouted. With a little care, it would keep growing.

Next, I needed to focus on Katniss. Having just Nathan on board wasn't enough. Both Nathan and Katniss needed to be in on the plan for it to work. So, I had to come up with a strategy, find a way to plant the seed of desire in Katniss's heart, nurture it bit by bit, let it take root and grow, and eventually, have it flourish alongside Nathan's desire.
