Chapter 14
'Good day Sir, well done Ma." Christabel greeted Riel and Desse when she and her mummy got to the dining table and met them already sitting about to eat.
'Welcome dear, how are you?" Riel replied Christabel with a beautiful smile on his face.
Christabel Mum also exchanged greetings with both Riel and his wife Christabel. They all ate together on the dining without Louis and that made Christabel a little sad the moment she taught of it. Christabel has always loved a happy and big family.
'It has been a while since we had more than a three people eat on the dining table with us, seeing the both of them eat with us together on the same dining feels so good" Desse said with a smile on her face in a very low tone so that it would not disturb their food.
Christabel and her mom didn't even notice the conversation between Desse and her husband because they were into the food they were eating. After few minutes Christabel will always look up to see the expression on their faces and when they look back she will smile at them, then continue eating.
'Thanks the meal was delicious, I really enjoyed it" Riel said to the chief cook who came to ask how the food that was made by new cook taste.
That was a test to see if she was qualified for the job of a new cook in a mansion. The feedback from Riel was good so she was recruited as a new cook in the mansion.
Minutes later they were all done eating.
'Baby girl you have not introduced yourself to me yet" Riel said to the little girl in a soft tone when they all gathered and sat down in the living room.
She stood up and went to his front;
'My name is Christabel and that beautiful lady over there is my mom and I am her one and only child Sir" Christabel answered him with so much confidence and boldness as she also demonstrated.
'Christabel such a beautiful name you have, and you said the young lady over there is your mother?" Riel said to her in a calm tone.
'Yes Sir but she is a beautiful lady ' Christabel replied.
'Hmmm ok Ma" Riel said with a big smile on his face.
'It's because that's what they all call her including Her, sorry Sir I meant your wife" Christabel said while pointing at Desse before she was signaled by her mother not to point at Desse again.
They all laughed at what Christabel said, Desse could not stop laughing.
'You are such a smart kid you know" Desse said still laughing.
While laughing Desse bursted into tears when she had a flash on her son Louis. All of them were so surprised to see her cry.
'What wrong, dear are you okay?" Riel said to her panting.
Desse could not stop herself from crying she tried but all she could see was her son crying out loud and seeing his tear weakened her. Riel understood the reason for her tear so he dismissed Christabel and her mother. They left the living room immediately as he instructed them to do so.
'Darling please talk to me at least say something, what's going on?" Riel asked her.
But it seemed like the more he talked the worse it became, she cried even harder than before. Riel noticed so he stopped with the questions.
'My love I know it's better at times to let it out than to keep it in for two long but this cry is too much and you know I don't like to see you cry. My angel, my darling, my beautiful wife the love of my whole life. You need to see how shocked Christabel was when she saw you crying she felt so bad because she taught she made all of us laugh not knowing it would make you cry so hard, she kept on saying sorry. I also felt bad because she is just a child and wants to see everyone happy" He said to her in a calm tone, also feeling sad for her.
His words were calm and soft in her ears. When she remembered Christabel she thought of how bad and hurt she would be feeling because she was just a child. After a while of thought she became calm and stopped crying then she wept off her tears.
'Darling" she called her husband Riel as she gave him a big hug in a very calm tone like she was tosaying thank you to him.
He looked at her and also hugged her back.
'I am sorry dear, it's just that when Christabel was talking i was okay, until she made us laugh then the picture of our son Louis flashed at me. He was soaking in tears and he was crying bitterly begging me to help him. I could not help him but cry, I miss him so much his laughter and his hugs" Desse said to Riel in a sad tone as she hugged him so tightly.
'It's okay darling, I'm here for you and you know we are in this together" Riel said to her in a calm tone still hugging each other.
Riel felt so bad and was about to cry but he controlled himself. Soon after they stopped hugging and Riel looked into her eyes.
' I know exactly how you feel right now, I feel the same way sometimes and I also see our son Louis at times but crying is not the only option but hoping and praying is. I know one day he will get better and be the Louis we use to know" Riel said to her in a sweet and loving tone.
He used his hand to remove the part of the hair that was hanging on her eyelids. They both looked into each other's eyes and smiled.
'Where is Christabel and her mother right now?" Desse asked Riel.
'I really do not know but I instructed the guard to take them to their room while they wait for us" Riel responded to her in a sweet tone as they both stood up to go and meet Christabel and her mother in their room.
