Chapter 15
Desse and Riel were approaching Christabel and her mother's room when they overheard their conversation.
'Mum, I do not think Madam Desse likes me and it makes me feel really bad," Christabel said in a low and sad tone.
'My love do not say that, you are an ungrateful child or are you?" Christabel's mother asked her eagerly.
'No mum I am not" Christabel answered as she nodded her head.
'Then why are you sounding like this, you know she loves us if she did not like us why she would have not brought us into her mansion as her family without knowing who we are or where we came from and her husband also accepted us. You know why?" Christabel's mother explained and asked her daughter.
'No Mum I do not ' she replied to her mum's question.
'Okay. It's because Madam Desse put in good words for us and it made her husband like us without even knowing what our name was" Christabel Mum explained further to her daughter Christabel.
'Really mum, I did no know that I thought she hated me because she kept on crying while staring into my eye" Christabel said to her mum in a calm tone
'My love no matter what people do, don't be too quick to judge okay." She said to her daughter as she used her hand to rub her head
'M鈥� Mum" Christabel said, chuckling while her mum rubbed her head.
'My baby you are just too sharp for your age you know' the woman said to her daughter in a calm tone pointing one of her fingers at her.
Christabel and her mother laughed really hard when her mother tickled her.
Desse and her husband Riel heard everything and did not want to spoil the little fun they were having together as mother and daughter so they decided to go back to the living room.
They both held each other hand and went quickly to the living room. When they got there they both sat down and waited for a while before calling out one of the maid to call Christabel and her mother to come join them downstairs.
Soon after Christabel and her mother came downstairs to the living room to join Desse and Riel.
'Well done Sir, well done Madam Desse" Christabel said to them when they arrived at the living room.
Her mother also exchanged greetings with them after wards took her sit. Desse and Riel responded really well to them.
'I am sorry for what happened earlier today, I never meant to scare or make you feel sad. I just remembered something really bad and it made me feel down and I just could not hold myself any more but cry"
Desse explained calmly to the both of them.
'We are really sorry for startling you earlier. It was not meant to be so but I think her emotions got the better part of her. And you know how you women can be at times" Riel explained in a calm way so that Christabel and her mother would understand and feel better without any guilt in their heart.
'It's okay Sir. Please there is nothing to apologize for. We are deeply grateful for bringing and also accepting us in your beautiful family" Christabel's mother said immediately as she knelt down.
'Yes Madam Desse, I was not happy earlier because I was not thinking right but now I am and am not angry. In fact I love you so much for accepting me and my mother into your house and showing us your family. Thank you very much ' Christabel said as she joined her mother in kneeling down as a sign of appreciation to both Desse and her husband Riel for accepting them into their house.
Riel and Desse were not comfortable with the way the two of them were kneeling down.
'No no no!! Do not do that, please stand, you don't have to kneel to show that you appreciate it. That will make us feel really uncomfortable, you know?" Riel said as he and Desse tried to pull the both of them up from the floor.
Christabel and her mother stood up and stopped kneeling.
'Thank you very much, I and my daughter really appreciate and will be forever grateful to you and your family," Christabel's mum said with a soft tone.
'Thank you very much Sir and Madam Desse I love you" Christabel said as she ran to give Desse and her husband a big hug and a kiss on their cheeks.
Desse was really overwhelmed with Christabel and her mother. She had felt like she already have a daughter whom she has always wanted. She hugged Christabel so tight, Christabel was almost suffocating when she realized and loosened her a bit.
'I am sorry dear" Desse said to Christabel in a sad and calm tone.
'I am fine madam Desse that the way my mum normally hugs me at times" Christabel said as she chuckled a little.
Everyone who heard her speak bursted into laughter.
'Oh my! Christabel is such a smart girl and she is also fun to be with" Desse said as they were all still laughing.
Their was a few minutes of quietness. Christabel kept on smiling, her mum bent her head to the ground. Desse finally brought the silence as she said
'Hmmm, what exactly happened between you and that man earlier?" Desse asked Christabel's Mum with so much seriousness.
Desse could feel how uncomfortable she was after she asked the question but she ignored it because she wanted to know what exactly happened between she and the man that made him almost kill her.
'Madam please can you please excuse Christabel before I explain the whole situation with you?" Christabel's mother asked Riel and Desse.
'Oh yes that would not be a problem" Riel replied.
'Christabel you heard your mum right? You can't stay here anymore you will have to go upstairs to your room until we are done having this conversation with your mum" Desse explained to her in a calm tone as she went closer to her.
Christabel stood up and went upstairs to her room.
