Chapter 22
'What's going on here?" Desse shouted the moment she got to the third floor and saw the maid.
Christabel was still holding the door holder tightly like she was never going to let go of it. Riel who also heard the voice of the maid got to the scene and was shocked when he met Christabel there holding the door.
'Christabel please don't go in, let's go back downstairs. I will carry you to your room okay" Riel pleaded with her.
Christabel was so confused because they were all begging her not to go in meanwhile she already did and nothing happened to either she or Louis. She didn't know what to do because his Mum Desse was already feeling sad and was going to cry any moment from now, Riel was coming closer to carry her.
Christabel was so confused and she was only a child, she couldn't process the whole thing in her head very well at that moment so she fainted in the process.
'Christabel!!!" Desse screamed as soon as she noticed Christabel had just fainted.
Riel ran immediately and grabbed her so she would not hit her head on the floor. He carried her to her room immediately and revived her with a few drops of water on her face. Christabel Mum, who was informed about Christabel's fainting by one of her fellow cooks, left what she was doing immediately and rushed to the room.
Louis who was in his room heard his mother's voice clearly the moment she shouted Christabel's name. She didn't get to tell him her name but since she was the one that left his room minutes later he heard his Mum shout a girl's name he was sure her name was Christabel and prayed that she come visit him again. Louis was still worried about the fact that his mum was around and she didn't even bother to say hello to him.
A few seconds later Christabel was back to normal. She saw her mum holding her hands while Desse and Riel held each other, they were all looking at her like they scared nothing bad should happen to her. She could see the joy on the three of them eyes the moment she woke up.
'Christabel my dear it's me your mother" her Mum said to her the moment she noticed she was awake already.
Christabel was not aware of what happened before now she only remembered when she was holding the door holder to Louis place.
'Christabel, how do you feel?" Desse asked her.
'I am fine madam Desse ' she replied.
'Please y'all should not be worried about me because am okay. See me I am talking well, I think I fainted out of confusion" she said as she chuckled a little.
They were all happy to see her talk well and smile like she always did. Christabel thought for a while before talking.
'Madam Desse and Sir Riel I got to meet your son Louis earlier" she said in a low tone
'What!!!" Desse shouted.
'You saw who?" Riel asked eagerly.
Christabel was so shocked when both of them responded.
'When? How? Where did you get to see him? Christabel" Desse asked anxiously.
'Madam Desse I was lost while going to my room, the mansion is too big for me to know everywhere, I was trying to locate my room when I ended up going to the third floor of the mansion. When I got there I was still confused whether I should go back downstairs or continue going upstairs" Christabel narrated.
'Christabel, you should have gone back downstairs!" Her mum shouted at her
'It's okay, the did has been done and there is nothing we can do about that so let's just wait and let her continue" Riel said to Christabel's Mum.
'Yes I think we should just hear her speak before passing any blame or judgement on her" Desse also replied her.
They then signaled Christabel to continue talking.
'Mummy it's not like I didn't want to go back downstairs it's just that I felt so attached to that place" in a confused tone.
'You felt attached?" Desse asked her.
'Yes madam Desse I did feel attached to the place, like I felt I was connected to that place" Christabel replied Desse.
'But how is that even possible?" Desse asked again.
Riel did not like the way Desse was asking Christabel those questions so he tapped her and told her to stop with the questions because Christabel is still little and she would not be able to answer them.
'Go ahead Christabel, we are all ears" Riel said to Christabel.
'I was about to go downstairs until I saw a door in front, so I didn't go downstairs. Instead I went towards the door, opened it and went inside. As I got in I noticed the air around me changed." She continued.
'Oh my God but I hope he didn't do anything to you?" Desse asked anxiously.
'No he did not Ma, he did not even make any move on killing me he sounded so lonely and when I got there I heard him singing I could feel the excitement in his voice when he noticed my presence but I felt for him when he told me not to leave him like everyone did" Christabel continued.
Desse got so emotional and was sad to hear that her son was lonely.
'Christabel, did you notice anything strange about him?" Riel asked.
'Hmmm鈥� yes Sir I think I did notice something about his eyes" she replied.
'Really? What about his eyes did you notice my dear?" Desse asked her.
'When he heard my voice and was coming towards the door I peeped through the hole I'm the door and saw his eyes. I noticed his eyes was red but later on when I checked it was already back to normal ' Christabel replied.
Desse and Riel did not ask any further questions because they already knew what caused his eyes to turn red. Desse went towards Christabel and gave her a hug and also a forehead kiss before she and Riel exited the room.
'Oh no!! Please calm down Louis!!" One of the maids shouted.
The noise was too loud that everyone ran to see who it was and what was happening.
