Chapter 148

'Is he going to kill me just the way he killed other maids in the past or is he going to let me go since I begged for mercy." Victoria asked herself in fear as she took a closer look at him.
There was a reflection of light which escaped from the cave. It made Victoria see Louis very well, she looked at him closely but she still couldn't look into his eyes because they were too bright for her.
'Am sorry, I never meant to hurt you. I just wanted you to follow me so I can show you some places because you are the only friend I have." Louis said to her, pitifully.
'Your friend?" She asked him, curiously.
'Yes my friend. You are the only person that has seen me and didn't run away or get scared. You are the first female friend that I have ever had." He said to her as he buried his head on the floor so he would not see her tears.
The more he saw her cry the weaker he got.
Victoria felt so bad for him because she knew he felt so lonely and empty.
'But I am not your friend," Victoria said to him.
The pain on his chest became worse that he couldn't bear. He stood and began to hit his chest hard. Victoria who sat and watched him became more scared of him.
'Arrrrrrr!!!!" Louis roared.
As soon as she heard him roar she stood up and began to run very fast so he wouldn't catch her.
'Pls let me go, I am not your friend! Pls don't kill me I promise I won't tell anyone about this!!" Victoria screamed from her dream as she held her blanket tightly, shaking her head.
'Victoria!" Desse shouted as she passed through her room and heard Victoria scream from her dream.
'Let me go!!!" Victoria screamed and jumped up from the bed.
She held her chest like she was struck with an arrow and the shock on her face was scary to Desse. She immediately rushed and got a bottle of water.
'Victoria please calm down, it was just a dream." She said to her as she gave her a bottle of water to drink.
Victoria collected the water and drank it.
'Thank you Ma'am Desse." Victoria said to Desse as she hugged her tightly.
'What happened Victoria? Did you have a bad dream?" Desse asked Victoria, curiously.
Victoria was laying on the bed while Desse used a clean towel to wipe away the sweat that was on her face. Victoria was still breathing hard and was trying to recover from the shock of the dream.
'Am fine now Ma'am Desse. It was just a bad dream." Victoria replied to Desse, calmly.
But it was obvious to Desse that whatever the dream was, it was a very bad dream and she would want Victoria to tell her about it.
'Victoria my love, you know you are more than a daughter to one of the mansion staff, you are a daughter to me and I love you so much. So whatever it is please feel free to share with me" Desse said to Victoria in a very sweet and assuring tone as she held her hands and looked into her eyes.
Her words softened Victoria's heart and she wanted to tell her what the dream was all about when she remembered the promise she made to Louis that she wouldn't tell anyone, even his parents.
'I am sure he didn't kill me in the dream because of the promise. I can't tell his mum about it." Victoria thought.
Desse noticed that in as much as the dream was really scary and shocking to Victoria she still didn't want to share it so she didn't push further.
'My daughter Victoria, what happened?" Victoria's Mum shouted as she entered Victoria's room.
One of the cooks who had seen Desse sending one of the maids to get a bottle of water ran to inform her that her daughter was sick so she rushed down as soon as possible.
She was so worried and shocked when she saw Victoria was laying on the bed looking all pale and didn't realize that Desse was there. Without greeting she went straight and gave Victoria a hug.
'Am sorry my love, I didn't know you were ill because I haven't had your time in for a while now due to my busy schedule. Am sorry my baby, please forgive me." Victoria's Mum said to Victoria sadly, as tears welled down her eyes.
Desse noticed it was not time for questions, it was a mother and daughter time so she stood up.
'I think I would have to excuse the both of you now." In a soft tone Desse said to them.
'Am sorry ma'am Desse, I didn't notice it was you." Victoria's Mum apologized for not greeting earlier when she came in.
'No, you don't need to apologize for anything. I understand it's okay, I would have to take my leave now so you two can talk." Desse said to them.
'Thanks ma'am Desse for staying with her. I really appreciate it."
'Thanks ma'am, I owe you one."
Victoria and her mum thanked Desse as she left the room.
Victoria's Mum escorted Desse out of the room. As they got to the door Desse paused and turned back.
'She only had a bad dream but it would be better if she told it to someone so she would feel a little bit relieved." Desse said to Victoria's Mum.
'Okay Ma'am, thank you. I had thought she caught malaria because I heard she was sick. That was why I rushed in the way I did earlier." Victoria's Mum replied to Desse.
'No problem, it's fine," Desse said as she left the room.
Victoria's Mum went back to meet Victoria.
'I am sorry for not coming earlier, my baby." Her mum apologized.
'No Mum you don't need to apologize for anything besides you are here with me now." Victoria replied to her mum as she went closer and gave her a big hug.
They both hugged for a while. Victoria sat up on the bed while her mum grabbed a chair from behind and sat on it facing Victoria.
'What exactly happened to you? Don't lie to me because you know am your mother and I know you too well."
