Chapter 68

Desse was scared to the bones as the evening gradually approached. She as already feeling uncomfortable with the new dress she was putting on and the new environment too.
Nothing pained her than the fact that she would be serving the most annoying creature in the universe.
When the darkness finally came, she went to the kitchen to get the alpha's meal. ' The alpha stays at the second dinning every Friday night. Inform him as soon as you drop the food on the table. ' The chief cook informed.
' I'll keep that in mind. ' She took the tray of food with her. Some other maids accompanied her with the bar of wine and golden cups.
After they had organize the table for his dinner, she went to call him.
Every time Matt sets his eyes on Desse, his facial expression would change to the broadest smile like he has just seen an angel.
While Desse on the other hand, would feel the deepest anger for him burning in her inside.
' Your meal is ready, sir." She informed, her head faced to the ground.
' I'll be there in a minute. ' She turns to leave, but stopped at the sound of his voice. ' I need you in my room after dinner. Don't be late."
She didn't say a word and neither did she give a reaction to him, she left the room. She went outside to where the labourers worked.
Men were made to do the toughest job, while women were busy at the farms and laundry. Children on the other hand, weren't actually doing any labour according to what her eyes could see.
She folded her hands around her chest, watching as how they tirelessly worked.
She stood there, and she forgot she was to meet alpha Matt in his room. Now she had stood there for more than twenty minutes, pitifully staring at the slaves when a maid came to call her.
' Desse," she called, getting her attention.
Desse turned to her. ' Yes?" She replied.
' The King is done eating and he is waiting for you in his chambers. ' She informed.
' Oh, my God! ' She gasped in fear. ' What have I been doing here?"
' You have to hurry up, he doesn't like to be kept waiting. '
She quickly went to the dinning room to get the tables cleared up before she headed to his room.
She offered a knock, ' Who is that?" He asked from the inside.
' It is I, Desse." She announced.
' Come in."
She took a deep breath, exhaling heavily. She walked in. ' You said I should meet you after dinner, I am here. ' Her head was buried to the ground.
' Yes, of course. I didn't forget that." He was smiling. He always does that each time he looks at her, not minding how shy she was feeling. ' Come, have a seat with me." He said, tapping on the space beside him.
' I would love to, your highness but, I do not think I am worth enough to sit beside his highness. ' She said, indirectly refusing to sit with him.
Matt was delighted at her response. He smiled again.
The girl was different from any other he has ever seen. She was bold enough to refuse at his first request, unlike other women who will agree without a second thought.
' You don't have to be scared, my love. I am your master, and what ever I say you shall do it. ' He insisted.
First, Desse got irritated at the way he addressed her as his love. Plus being so persistive that she must sit beside him got her pissed off.
She forced herself to smile. ' I won't still accept his highness's request, I do not know if he is testing my attitude. I would rather stand and hear what he has to say than to share the same couch with him. '
' First, I am not testing you. And second鈥� ' he paused, then continued. ' I do want you beside me because I can't explain how much I love you and want you in my life. I don't know how to say this but, I wish to have you as my queen and not working as鈥� a maid.
I believe you hate me because what I did to your home but, I figured out that this was the only way to make it up to you and see that you are happy. You have to believe me, I am ready to take good care of you. ' He confessed.
It was as if every single word he spat out of his mouth got her angry the more. She fought so hard not to express her anger on her face, she was done listening to those shits.
Desse's eyes flew open as he walked close to her. She silently prayed he wasn't going to repeat the same thing he had done earlier or even worst.
She was moving backwards until her back was leaning to the door. ' Are you still scared of me?" He asked, few steps to her.
He stood before her, only two steps away. He placed his both hands on her shoulders, moving them down to her palms.
' Please, lay with me. Even if it's only for tonight. ' He said in a low voice, as if he was scared some one might be listening from the outside.
She shook her head. ' I can't. I'm sorry, I can't." She refused.
' Please鈥� I have already made a promise to myself and to you, I will take care of you until my last breath. Just please, don't say no. You just don't know how much you mean to me. ' He pleaded.
So an alpha can plead in such manner all because he wanna have s*x with his slave? She wondered to herself.
' I am sorry, your highness, I already made a vow to my late husband before he died in the attack. I promised him I would never marry another. Since the day I lost him and my first child, I don't think I am ready to bear another child.
I don't wanna sound rude to you or look so disobedient, a vow is a vow, and I can't break it. ' She made sure that she put the words in a way even going extra mile faking a cry so he won't notice that they were all nothing but lies.
A big fat lie.
He felt pity for her. ' I understand. Maybe鈥� I'll give you some time to think over it. ' He cups her face in his hand, leaning for a kiss on her forehead. ' You can go now." He said.
Desse had to put on the same facial expression until she knew she was out of his room and steps away from him.
She turns her back after hearing the sound of closed door. ' Don't worry, very soon, your time will be over." She cursed.
Half of the night she spent it awake, thinking. How are the other rogues doing?
Are they safe? Or have Matt sent his men for the second time?? She was so much bothered for their sake.
She thought she was going to experience happiness not withstanding the trauma Matt created for her. Even at that, he did something even worster, yet he wants her to sleep with him and act like every thing is alright?
No, nothing is alright as far as he still breaths.
She had already laid on her bed, ready to sleep when she heard voices like whispers from the outside.
She tip toed quietly to the door so as not to wake the other maids. She leaned her left ear to the door, to get a clear hearing of what they were talking about.
' Come, let's go somewhere more hidden. Someone might be eves dropping." Said the first speaker.
They walked away, making it impossible for Desse to hear what they are about to talk.
Quietly, she sneaked out of the room, following the direction the voices went.
' I think here is better." Said the same voice. ' His highness has brought up the idea of sending some men to mountain Everest by tomorrow before sun rise. He said his instincts aren't at rest. He wants to know how long the beast has to be freed. '
' I doubt those men will survive the ice. Look, we can not risk a hundreds of armies just for a beast. ' Said the other.
' I know. I thought as much too but what can we do? He wants to be sure because he doesn't want the beast to hinder his coronation. If possible, he'd have it dead if it's time was near."
' I think it will be better if he holds the coronation the sooner. History has made us know that mount everest isn't an ordinary place, those men to be sent might not even get there before they die, so what's the point? '
' You have a point to this. I will discuss this with his highness by tomorrow, we'll see what he says about it. '
' Please do so. I still find it difficult to bear the United State's weather, how explainable will the Mount be? '
Desse quietly tip toed back to the room, shutting the door behind her. ' You should be asleep and not wandering around." Said a voice, but the room was dark that she couldn't see who it was talking.
' I鈥� I went鈥� I mean, yeah. I went to the toilet." She stammered.
' Thank your stars you weren't caught. You should be on bed or they find out that you sneaked out. ' Said the girl.
' Yeah, of course. ' She went to her bed, covering her body with her blanket.
Why would he risk so many life just for nothing? Why does he desperately want the beast dead? She thought.

The alarm rang, causing every maids to wake up. Desse felt so lazy to stand, she has never woken up this early before.
They divided themselves into groups. First group was to enter the bathroom before the other groups.
As Desse folded her work dress, holding it in her hand, waiting for her turn, a girl stood beside her.
' I know you heard something last night." She said.
Desse looked at her." Were you following me? ' She asked.
' No, but I doubt you did go to the toilet. '
' Of course, I did. What ever it is you wanna hear, I think you have to find it out yourself because I didn't hear anything. ' She defended.
Who knows if she was a spy or what, trying to make her leak the truth, ending both her and the two men from last night in trouble.
The girl smirked. ' Don't try lying to me, it's all over your face."
' Then get your answers from there. Cos my mouth isn't saying what it doesn't know. '
