Chapter 84
'Why don't we meet your late husband?"
Desse finished eating before they left to the council hall where Riel sat with his royal councils.
'Sire, Desire wishes to see you." The guard informed.
'Let her in." He permitted.
Desire entered. ' Your Majesty. ' She bowed.
' Is there a problem?" He asked.
' No. But there's someone who wants to see you." She looks at the door. ' Come in. '
His eyes were fixed at the door waiting for whosoever it was to show up.
As soon as he saw Desse walk in, he stood up. Her face was buried to the ground as she slowly made her way in.
'Your majesty." She greeted with a bow.
Riel was happy, he thought she must have remembered everything.
'I am sorry to interrupt鈥"
He cuts in. 'No, you didn't. How may I help you? ' He asked.
' I learned of the death of my husband. If you can permit that I should see his body for the last time." She requested, her head still facing the ground. 'I have to pay him my last respect."
' You are free to do that. ' He permitted.
Desse was escorted by both Desire and the royal guard to Matt's tomb.
'Are you sure you're ready for this?" Desire asked, with concern.
She nods her head. 'I didn't get the chance to see him before he died, this is my only chance to look at his face."
' Okay. I'll wait out here."
The guard opened the door to the tomb where Matt's body was kept.
She took a deep sigh before making her way further to the tomb.
From the door she began to cry. 'It was supposed to be us together but you let her into your head. I was supposed to die by your side but you were so stupid to think you were smart.
Now you are gone, she is not with you. It's just you alone stucked in hell." She wiped her tears. ' I should feel hurt for your loss but no, I can't. I have always wished for a day like this to come. You deserve this more than anyone else. Now someone else is on the throne no one has to be scare of you."
When she opened the cloth which was used to cover him, she saw that his head was separated from his body.
She covered it back. 'Rest in peace, My Lord." She left the tomb.
Desire was surprised. She had only spent less than fifteen minutes in there and her face didn't look like she had lost someone so dear to her.
'Let's go." She said.
Desire exchanged glance with the royal guard. She shrugged her shoulders.
'There's no point calling me your queen, I am a normal person just like you are. Very soon, I will be leaving here for good."
' Why?"
' Because this is no longer my home. My home is with the rogues. Matt is dead, everything about me and this place is gone. My life鈥 it's all meaningless. You know, it would have been better to be dead."
' Jane don't you ever say that."
' I have to. Look around, Desire, what's left to live for? What's there to hope for? Sophie has taken every thing away from me, and now there is a new king on that throne鈥" She scoffed.
' Do you know what it feels like to have lived a wretched life, then all of a sudden you became so great? And then, things turn out unexpectedly and you're back to what you were before. If possible twice what you were before?
I don't wanna imagine that happening, but here I am facing it as a reality鈥 My reality. I don't wanna feel the shame because I have felt more than enough of it. I don't want you or anyone to stop me, I have to go. I have to leave this place for good."
' Jane, you don't have to do this." She pleaded.
' I'm sorry but, I really do."
Riel sent for Desire. He knew he would get all the answers he needed about Desse from her since she was the closest thing to her.
'Does she remember everything now? ' He asked.
' Yes, but there's one left for her to remember. Poor thing, it's the most important part of her memory. '
' What's that? ' He asked again.
' You. She doesn't remember who you are. Though, she's been trying hard to remember," shook her head. 'she can't seem to recollect. But since she was able to remember every other thing, I am certain she will remember who you are. I think this is the time you have to reconnect with her mind.
Remind her of all those last times you've talked with her, all those times she do read about your history, I'm pretty sure those will help her remember you. But, you mustn't let her know it's you in her head until she remembers it all."
He looked away. ' That won't work out."
' Your Majesty, there's no harm in trying. Give it a try and see if it works or not. We can't just conclude it won't. I'm sorry to say this but, what if this is all fate's doing? What if all these happening is a way for the both of you to reconcile and work together. It can be possible, you know?"
' You think, reconnecting with her will her will help?"
She nodded. ' I believe it certainly will. Your Majesty, you have to hurry up, she will be leaving the fortress very soon."
Riel's eyes flew open. ' Leaving? To where?"
' She said she wants to return back to the rogue camp. I tried stopping her but she refused to listen to me."
He left her to Desse's room, only to see her packing her stuffs. 'Hey." He said from the door.
'Hey." She said not sparing him a glance.
'You're leaving?"
'I think you can see what I am actually doing."
'You don't have to."
' Please don't tell me you're here to stop me."
' Desire told me everything. Why would you want to leave because of him? '
' I change my mind. And besides, my husband is dead, he has nothing to do with me. With someone else ruling, my whole life is damn so complicated."
She looked at her wardrobe for the last time, it won't be necessary taking this hell killing dresses, all she needed was a simple one.
'Thanks for checking on me but, I can't stay here anymore." She packed her bag pack on her shoulder.
She stiffened the moment she saw him. 'I uhmm鈥 it's you?"
'You don't have to go." He repeated.
'I have to. And please don't stop me. '
He was still standing by the door, she stopped. ' Step back. ' He stood still. ' Are you deaf? I said step back. '
He shifted, letting her walk away.
She was meters away from her room, she stopped. Riel was watching her to see if she needed attention.
'Are you alright?" He asked.
'What's happening to me? ' She rubbed her head. ' What鈥 'He grabbed her before she made it to the ground.
'What happened?" Asked the physician.
'I don't know, she just passed out." He replied. ' Will she be alright? 'He asked impatiently.
The physician checked her pulse and temperature. ' She is alright."
'But鈥 I don't understand鈥 why would she faint if she is alright?"
' I am as confused as you are, sire."
She jerked up, breathing heavily. The physician shivered a bit but pretended not to be scared.
'What am I doing here? I'm supposed to be somewhere else and not鈥" she looked around. 'in a fu*king hospital. '
She got to her feet. She kept a mean face at Riel, 'Don't even think about stopping me ever again." She picked her bag from the table, leaving the room.
' Does she know who you are?" Asked the physician.
Riel made no comment.
' You have to tell her. ' Riel looked at him but still didn't say a word.

Desse had almost reached to the gate when Desire ran to her. 'Desse wait!" She called.
'Desire for the love of Zeus, don't think of stopping me. '
' I don't wanna stop you, but at least before you leave Moon Stone, you have to find the answer you seek for. Don't you wanna find out what you are forgetting?"
' Some times we don't get what we want when we need them, but we can always have them only if we exercise the patience. Whatever it is can wait till some other time. Right now, I have to find my home. Good bye, Desire."
She turned to leave, when the voice sounded in her head. ' Desse."
She stopped again, turning to her. 'Did you just call my name?"
Desire smiled, he was actually reconnecting with her again. 'Yes. Yes, it's working."
'What are you talking about?"
Desire was busy smiling at her. She rolled her eyes, but the voice called her again. 'Desse. Desse."
She tried ignoring his voice, she ran away, far away, hoping she would never hear the voice again.
As she sat beside a tree to rest that night, she had created a little fire to keep herself warm from the night breeze.
She was staring at the moon, her ears attentive to sound of the night creatures. The rogues camp was miles away from Moon Stone.
She dozed off by the small touch of the wind on her skin. She woke up, finding herself in the cave.
Just as her first dream had happened, it all repeated.
She could feel the cold air against her skin, her body shivering, her teeth gnashed.
'What's this place?" She asked no one in particular.
Her eyes caught with a glimpse of light coming from one corner of the cave. She followed the direction, which led to where the flower was kept.
She was standing before it, her hand halfway to touch it but was stopped by the growling sound of the beast.
She flinched in fear, staring at its face. It was asleep, snoring soundly.
It's both hands and legs tied with a thick metal chain hung against the rocky wall.
She returned her gaze back to the flower, she was thinking of some thing but couldn't understand her thoughts.
'How did she get here? What's this place? Why is such a great animal locked up in here? And why is she the only one seeing this?" All this questions bombarded her mind that she notice the beast was staring at her.
She turned to look at him, her eyes widened in fear as his eyes pierced into hers.
She was staring into his eyes, and like a mirror she was watching every past actions. Every memory she had of him.
How it all started. The night in her room, how she had thought it was her father who had called her. How he'd been in control of her mind.
How he had promised to kill her, and how she pushed him off her mind with the abusive word she had said to him.
She remember. She remembers it all.
'Riel." She said the name like it held power.
She fell to the ground, waking up back to reality. 'Riel. Riel. Riel." She repeated.
Desire's words began to reflect in her mind. 'King Riel has taken over the throne."
The beast鈥 Her hope鈥 Her dream鈥
He's Back鈥
