It was getting dark and the woman was still cry in the sitting room without saying a word. So Desse decided to go and meet her so they could talk a little.
'Ma, hmmm鈥 I know we were wrong for not informing you about your daughter's death earlier. It's just that we were all in shock and we didn't know the steps to take first." Desse said to the woman.
'Hmm鈥 please can you say something, we are all worried." Desse pleaded.
'You are worried? About what? Me or yourself?" The woman asked angrily.
'I trusted you with my daughter, she was all I have and to see her lying lifeless was the least I expected. Why did you call justices or did she commit sucide?" The woman asked angrily.
Desse didn't say a word she only signed one or two times.
'What do you what me to do? She is all I have gotten, when her father left me she was the only one that supported me. When I wanted to give up she stood by me and gave me hope. The woman cried out.
'I am so sorry, Please forgive me." Desse begged her as she knelt down and pleaded with the woman as they both cried together.
We are all sorry, please forgive us" she kept on apologizing.
The woman cried out the more when Desse apologize.
'Shy are you apologizing? You don't need to be sorry, I know you and your family are good people. So you don't need to be sorry, I am only angry at my God who didn't save my daughter or even come to her rescue when she needed him the most." The woman cried.
'I don't even know how to comfort you right now but please accept our sincere apology for not being able to take care of the child you left in our custody." Desse pleaded with the woman.
The woman looked at her as they both cried together.
'Who will comfort me why I am sad or unhappy? Who will call me mummy? What am I going to do without my daughter?" The woman cried out loud.
Riel was coming downstairs from his room to check on Desse when he noticed her absence. Desse was still kneeling, she cried so hard and it made Riel feel bad.
'I think I should just go back upstairs." Riel said to himself.
'I really don't know the words to say to you that would comfort you right now." Desse said to the woman as she cleaned her tears with her hands.
'I just want you to know that we all are here for you, we would make sure we support you in whatever you do concerning her burial. We would give you our full support because your daughter was not just a maid in the mansion but a loyal maid to us." Desse assured her, she tried to stop herself from crying but she couldn't.
'Hmm鈥. So my baby girl is truly gone and it's her burial we are now talking about." The woman continued crying.
Desse stopped crying for a while, she was already too weak. She stared at the woman sadly.
'I think it's high time you see your daughter's body, let me take you there." Desse said to the woman in a very weak tone.
The woman raised her head to look at Desse.
'It is against our tradition, in our land we can't see the dead bodies of our children because it's a bad omen." The woman explained to her.
Desse was really surprised to hear this from the woman because she never knew such rules still exist. She only brought up the idea of see the her daughter now because she thought the woman was scared of seeing it not knowing it was against their tradition.
'What kind of tradition is that, you would not see your daughter's lifeless body?" Desse questioned.
The woman didn't reply to her, she only looked at her in a very very bad way and looked away. Desse noticed the glare and stopped the question.
'Okay if you say so." Desse said to her.
It was getting dark and the woman was still in the mansion.
'It's getting dark, I will order the maids to arrange a room for you to sleep in." Desse assured the woman.
'No, that won't be necessary, I will be going back today. If I don't, the people who knew I was coming here and didn't see me returning would be worried about me. So I will have to go back and also go so that I can tell them that my daughter is dead." The woman said as she tried standing up.
Desse immediately went to support the woman who found it hard to stand on her own. She kept on falling back to the ground when she tried standing up, she was really weak. Desse helped her and she stood up. The woman couldn't even walk on her own; she needed support, so Desse called two of the guards and told them to escort the woman home using one of the cars packed outside.
'Make sure you take her home safely. Hmm鈥 wait.." Desse said to the two guards.
'Riel!! Riel!! Please can you throw the keys to one of the cars!!" Desse said to Riel who was upstairs in a very loud tone so he could hear her.
'Okay, here you go." Riel said to her as came down from the staircase.
Desse escorted the guards and the woman outside. While Riel followed them at the back. Desse and Riel made sure they left the mansion already before coming back inside.
'Thanks for handling the situation, I don't know what I would have done without you." Riel said to her.
'You are welcome, but you know that is also my duty to carry out. And you know fully well that the death was caused by our son." Desse said to him.
They both signed and went upstairs together.
