Chapter 99:
Alley POV:
"Mommy can we let them in?" Danny asked peeking under Ember to look at me. "The children are innocent." Ember said never taking her eyes off of them. "They should be able to walk through, they have not been in contact with dark magic and are pure." Ember stated. "You children will stay with the king and the great white witch. They will keep you all safe." Nate said. All eyes turned to Jeremy and I. ``What are you waiting for? You said you were hungry! We have yummy food!" Danny said, clapping his hands, his energy seemed to have rubbed off a little on a few of the kids. One of them walked over to our side. "We will show you were you will all sleep." Chloe said. They followed her and we turned our attention to Nate who was studying Ember. "That is a unique wolf if you don't mind me saying." Nate said, tilting his head to the side. "She is indeed. She can tell who is truthful and who is not. So tell us again what happened with Bosch." I stated. "After the old kings death we had no one to lead us, and eventually started to break off into our own groups. Bosch came to us and said he had our long lost king and as long as we did as he said our king would be unharmed and at the end he would be released, word spread quickly about it so the majority came back together. Ever since then we do as Bosch asks. It is clear that it was all a lie." Nate said, looking at us.
"No one asked him if they could see the king?" Stephen asked. "We have all tried but he always refused to let us see him or be anywhere near his house or the cells." Nate replied. "Did he ever show evidence that he had captured me?" Jeremy asked. "He provided pictures but we couldn't really make any features out. No one questioned it at the time. All we saw was someone in the cell that he said was you." Nate replied. "He speaks the truth." Ember stated. "The others know I am alive and not held captive, correct?" Jeremy asked. "Yes my king. I have told them to act normal until the battle, when the battle starts we turn against him, the dark witches and the vampires." Nate replied. "The battle will happen within the next few weeks, we have made him mad and he won't want to wait." I stated. "He is very angry and is planning something. If I can get any details I will send word." Nate replied. "Very well, we will keep the children safe. Take care of yourself as well as the others." Jeremy said. "Yes my king." Nate replied as he bowed in respect before he shifted and ran off. "Let's go see how the children are getting alone." I said. "I am so happy! I will have new friends! And they didn't seem scared of Ember!" Danny said climbing up on Ember who snorted. "I'm sure they will love to be your friend Danny but they might be scared of everything for a little while." Stephen replied.
"I will help take care of them, I promise! I will keep them safe." Danny said determined. I swear the world needs more people like Danny, pure at heart and always happy. Even though the kid eats a lot, he is like a bottomless pit at times. We decided to keep everyone as close as possible to each other so the houses are almost side by side, old houses that were left when they built new ones for everyone. I could see the lights were on at all the houses. "Is everyone in one house or did you all split?" I asked through the link. "We all split up so that we could help. The last two houses only have the omega in it." Diane replied. Perfect. "You and Cassandra take one house and we will take the other." I said looking at Jeremy who nodded at me. The closer we got the more the more I realized it was really quiet. As we walked in, the omega was in the kitchen cooking. "Where are the children?" I asked, "They went upstairs to bathe and get clean clothes on." She replied. "How are they?" Stephen asked. "They seem a bit scared and skeptical of things. They will just need a lot of love and attention." She replied. Well I could have guessed that. They have been neglected for a while now. Some of them may have lost parents because of everything going on.
Just thinking of something like that breaks my heart. Children without parents can be hard on them. I heard little footsteps coming down the stairs, we all looked to see who all was coming down and before we knew it ten little bodies were at the end of the stairs. Danny climbed off of Ember and walked forward to the girl who looked to be the same age. "Need a hug? I give good hugs." Danny said, smiling at her. For a moment she looked confused before she stepped into his little embrace and hugged him back. "You are safe here I promise. My mommy and daddy are so good at keeping us safe." Danny said, smiling so hard it looked like his face would crack. "What is your name?" Danny asked, trying his hardest to get her to speak. "I am Kayla." She whispered. "You're really pretty Kayla! Are you hungry? Are y'all hungry?" Danny asked, looking around her. "Can we pet the wolf?" A little boy asked, looking at Ember. "If it will make them feel better and Danny says yes then I don't mind." Ember stated. "Just be careful with her okay? She is super special and I love her a lot." Danny said walking towards Ember who laid on the ground.
One by one the kids walked up to her and gently rubbed her back. It was like the fear left them at that moment, "She is so soft." Kayla said. "Alright little ones let us sit down and eat and then we can get some sleep okay?" The omega said, smiling at all of them. "Can we play with the wolf tomorrow? She makes us feel safe." Kayla asked, seeming a little sad that we were all leaving. Ember nodded her head and a smile came across all their faces. "You all get some food in you and some rest and we will see you all in the morning okay?" I said. "Thank you great white witch. For saving us." Kayla said. It felt like the air left my body for a split second. "Call me Alley. I will always save you all." I said feeling the tears swell in my eyes. "Goodnight everyone." Stephen said as wrapped his arm around me, taking us out of the house. We met up with everyone out front and they all had the same look as I did. "It seems they feel safe around the wolves more than they do us." Charlotte said. "I think the ones that stayed with them and protected them were in wolf form, we need to show them that we are no different." Jeremy stated.
I couldn't agree more. They took to Ember very well and it was like Christmas to them. I will do whatever it takes to save them from a rogue life. Those children deserve better than to live scared
