Chapter 89:
Alley POV:
Just thinking about the battle makes me mad, I couldn't wait until it was all over with and we could all live somewhat normally. Have our own little pups grow in a world with less trouble. "You all have done all you can do to train. The others will be fine, close to death but over all will make it." Rose said. Well as relieving as that is, I don't like the idea of anyone being close to death. "The battle will bring out a different side that you have never seen before, like nothing you have ever felt before. It's nothing to be afraid of. You both are all our hope at peace." Rose said, sounding a little sad. How long has it been since they have had peace? It was something I fully intended on bringing back. No one deserves to live like that. Constantly training and worrying about the next fight that may happen. "We will do all that we can." I whispered snuggling into Denver more. I know Rose knew how much I trusted her, hell she knew all of me. Athea was right, this was a good way for us to bond with each other. "When everything is said and done I want to take Denver on a date." I said, Denver perked his ears up. "I won't stand in the way as long as I can take Rosie here on a date too." Stephen replied, smiling at me. The ground shook as Rose and Denver wagged their tails. I guess they like the sound of that.
"So what do y'all know about the battle?" I asked curiously. "We can't tell you the exact details but we can assure you that you have nothing to fear. We would give our lives for you." Denver replied. Well at least I tried. "You two must be hungry how about we get things set up so y'all can make something." Rose said, and on cue my stomach started growling, I felt Denver rumble under me. Rude. As we all stood up we walked to a clearing where it looked like a fire was built, wolves came in with logs in their mouths, and a few had platters with meat, potatoes and other vegetables. Goodness, how could we eat all that? "Is anyone else going to eat? Not sure if y'all like it raw or cooked but we can cook it all.." I trailed off as I looked around to see all the food they brought. "We will all eat with y'all, this will be our first and last meal together for a while. We eat them raw so cook what you want." Ember said as she walked up to us. I smiled in return. She was right, this would be our first and last. Denver laid down behind me while Rose laid down behind Stephen, "Sit and relax princess I'll cook something up for us." Stephen said, kissing the top of my head. How did I get so lucky? I mean honestly a wonderful mate and a strong wolf. I'll be sure to thank Athea when we get back to them.
I wonder what she and Danny are up to. Danny would have a field day with all the pups here, he sure is an enthusiastic little thing. I sat down in the middle of Denvers massive body and laid back against him. "You really are handsome Denver, mind if I ask some questions?" I asked. "Go right on ahead my little princess ask away." Denver replied and I could almost swear he was purring. "Do you have any worries about the battle or anything in general?" I asked. "The only thing I worry about is not being able to keep you safe. I don't like that you have to fight Bosch and it will be hard to let it happen, but I will keep others away from you while it happens." He replied a little bitterly. I signed, "I know but you have to have faith in me. In Rose." "I have full faith in you both, but my urge and Stephens urge to keep you both safe is hard to keep at bay." Denver replied. I couldn't help the sadness that started to spread within me. "Alley get out of that mood." Rose snapped glaring at me. I forgot she is still in tune with my emotions. "Why are you sad my princess?" Stephen asked. "Just thinking about everything, it's hard not to get caught up in feelings." I replied. "Well we can't let emotions get the best of us right now. We can only do what we can." Stephen replied. I know he is right but I also know how hard it will be for him and Denver to sit on the sidelines and watch the destruction that will happen when Bosch and I collide.I just have to keep reminding myself that it will all be okay in the end and that no matter how badly I get injured it will all be worth it.
"Whatever you are making, it smells wonderful." I said sniffing the air, "It's almost done, just relax." Stephen replied. "Well something certainly smells good." A female voice came from behind us. I turned around to see Athea walking towards us with Danny whose eyes were like saucers as he looked around. "Would you like some? Danny, are you hungry?" I asked. "No thank you, Danny and I had some food on the other side." Athea replied. Danny came running over to me and hugged my neck which I gladly accepted. "Are these your wolves?" Danny asked. "They are, this is Denver. Stephens wolf, and that one over there, is Rose. My wolf." I said pointing over to Rose. "They are so huge! And so pretty! How do they fit inside y'all?" Danny asked, Athea started laughing. "My you are full of questions, young one." Danny plopped down beside me petting Denver. "Did you have fun with Athea?" I asked, looking at Danny. "I did! She taught me so much, it's super helpful." He replied. Stephen walked over with a platter in each hand. "Unfortunately when you are finished eating I must send you both back." Athea said. Almost immediately whines echoed in the area. "Not to worry my little wolves, they may come back to visit after the battle." Athea said, smiling at all of us.
"Thank you for this Athea, this place. It's beautiful." I said. She came around Denver and sat down in front of me. "You don't have to thank me Alley. It was my pleasure." She replied. As we ate all the wolves surrounding us and it felt like one big family, we have a lot of things in motion but for now I will soak up all the love and faith they have in us. This was such a happy place in an upsetting time. As long as they keep the faith I feel like we could accomplish anything.
