Chapter 63:

Alley POV:

Walking with Stephen to the house I could hear him laughing. "What's so funny?" I asked, looking up to his cloudy blue eyes. "You, I keep replaying what happened in my head and you wasted no time barging up to them." Stephen said. Thinking about it now, it was pretty funny. I am smaller than they are but the fire I had in me burned brighter than they did. "Sometimes you get cute and mad, then you get scary mad." He said, trying to contain his laughter. "I'm sure they didn't expect me to confront them. But it seems my name is spreading and they looked like they could have dropped dead." I said, smiling at him. Not that I wanted people to fear me, but those who pose a threat should fear me. Fear the people I've surrounded myself with. "Let's hope this new leader of theirs has some common sense." Stephen replied. As soon as we opened the door Danny came running full speed at us, "Alley! Stephen! You're back, can we go on our picnic now?" Danny asked, jumping up and down.
I had one of the omegas pack a basket with food and drinks and had a blanket ready to go. "Yes, we can. Let me grab the basket and stuff and we will head out okay?" I said ruffling his hair. Danny had a lopsided grin on his face, he really didn't ask for much and enjoyed the simple things. I still needed to question his aunt on her behavior but that can wait until after the picnic. I grabbed the basket off the counter and folded the blanket and placed it inside. "Are we ready?" I asked walking back to the door to see that Stephen had Danny on his shoulders. "Look Alley, I'm so tall!" Danny said, stretching his hands above his head. "You are sure." I said giggling. "Let's go eat shall we?" Stephen asked, reaching up to hold on to Danny's little legs. "I'm so excited! I've never had a picnic before but they look like a lot of fun, and I could run around and play. Will you play with me Stephen?" Danny said in one breath. The boy could talk a mile a minute but I didn't mind. He was comfortable with us and that's all that mattered.
"Of course I'll play with you but after we eat. We need to eat so that we stay strong." Stephen said squatting as he went through the door so that he wouldn't hit Danny's head on the top of the door frame. "One day I'm going to be big and strong like you," Danny said to Stephen. We walked across the lawn going towards the little park that was built for kids but all I could do was watch Stephen with Danny. Seeing how he cared for him made my heart swell. All the worries I had about us being parents vanished, he was patient with Danny and answered all his questions while also being positive with him, telling him how proud he was of him or how he will grow to be big and strong and how he is the best protector we've ever had. I could tell Danny would be very head strong as he gets older. He has a fighter's heart, I stretched the blanket out while Stephen took Danny off his shoulders. I didn't have time to stand up before my little Danny ran over and hugged me. "Thank you for spending time with me and taking me on the picnic." Danny said in my ear. I wrapped my arms around his little body, "No need to thank me sweetie. We will make sure to do this often okay? Our own little family time." I said to him, ``I like that idea, I never really had family time." Danny said a little sad.
"Hey." Stephen said, lifting Danny's head to look at him. "I don't know what happened to your parents and you don't have to talk about it. But, we will love and care for you and we will have happy days, okay?" Stephen said, pulling Danny to his lap. "Okay, can we eat? I'm so hungry." Danny replied, switching his mood from sad to happy. "I plan on talking to his aunt, she's still in the cells." I said to Stephen through the link. "I've noticed he hasn't asked about her once since we took him that night." Stephen replied back. Now that I think of it he hasn't. He doesn't seem to even worry about where she is, something isn't right. I opened the basket to find sandwiches, two bags of BBQ chips, brownies, and Gatorades. Danny's little eyes lit up, "All my favorites!" He said reaching for the ham and cheese sandwich. I handed Stephen a sandwich before grabbing mine, placing the chips in between us so that we could all share, I left the brownies in the basket until we were all done eating. I could honestly do this everyday if I could. Sitting here with these two and watching them laugh makes me feel at peace. I never thought I'd find so much happiness because at one point I thought Stephen was all I needed. Now I see what I truly need. Peace, love, happiness and kids.
We had to move quickly with this fight. The constant worry I have felt even though we are safe, I can't help but still worry. "Can I have my brownie now? I ate all my food like a big boy!" Danny said, smiling at me. I reached in the basket and pulled out the small plate of brownies that was wrapped in plastic. Once I got the plastic off I held the plate out to Danny. "You can have two." I said, smiling at him. Danny eagerly reached out and snatched two right off the plate making me laugh, the kid was a bottomless pit. "Hey Danny? Do you have anything at your aunt's house that you want to get for your room?" I asked, before I sent him shopping with my mom I wanted to make sure we didn't double anything he already had. "No. I don't have anything at her house." Danny replied. I tilted my head to the side, "What do you mean you don't have anything?" I asked. "She threw away my toys and I only had a mattress on the floor." Danny whispered. Hold on. Hold the hell on. She threw away his toys?! He didn't even have a proper bed?? I could feel the anger boil inside me. How could someone be so mean? "Well how about you and nana go shopping after we are done here? You can buy whatever you want too,." I said, trying hard to keep the smile on my face. "I can have whatever I want?" Danny asked. "Yes, yes you can." Stephen said, patting his head. "Even toys?" He asked. I nodded my head. "A big boy bed?" He asked again. "Yes, a big boy bed." I said.
