Chapter 64:

Alley POV:

Slowly his eyes widened and the biggest smile I've ever seen came across his face. It looked like the kid just won the lottery. "Thank you so much!" Danny yelled, flinging himself in my arms hugging me tight. "You are most welcome, now let's go play!" I said, Danny turned and started to run, looking over his shoulder "You can't catch me!" Danny half yelled out because he was laughing. Stephen and I jumped to our feet laughing and chased him to the park. Stephen scooped him up in his arms tossing him in the air making our little Danny squeal and giggle. I ran over to them and started tickling Danny who was now cradled in Stephens arms. At this moment none of us had any worries. "Come on Alley! Let's go down the slide!" Danny yelled, grabbing my hand and pulling me along. I looked at the tiny slide and wondered how my butt would even fit on that thing. We ran up the little steps and across the wooden walkway and stopped just before the slide. Dany wasted no time flinging himself down it sliding straight for a waiting Stephen. "Come on princess, it's your turn." Stephen said, smirking at me holding his arms open for me. "No, I'll catch her!" Danny said, pushing Stephen to the side. "Come on Alley, it's not scary." Danny said opening his little arms, I sat down realizing I had to shift mainly to one side so that I wouldn't get stuck.
I pushed myself down the slide slowly to a very giggly Danny and Stephen. I extended my arms scooping Danny up and swung around in a circle with him. I set him down for him to bolt off to play on the play set. Stephen wrapped his arm around my shoulders ``He is an amazing kid." He whispered in my ear. "Yes, he is. He is a true blessing." I said, smiling at him. We watched Danny run around and played and I was amazed at how much energy the boy had. I didn't realize how much time we spent until I saw the sun start to descend. "We need to get back. I want to talk to you before Pythia comes." I said to Stephen. "Come on Danny, it's time to go back so you and nana can go shopping." Stephen called out. Danny flung himself back down the slide before running over to us, "I'm ready! I can't wait to have new stuff. Cool stuff for big boys!" Danny called out while he skipped ahead of us. My mom was so excited to be shopping for and with a kid again. As soon as we walked up to the house my mother flung the door open, "There you all are! Are you ready Danny? We have to be back before the sun sets so we only have a few hours." She said, "Yes, I'm ready!" Danny said before turning to Stephen and I and wrapping his little arms around our legs. "I will be back soon! I love y'all" Danny said, squeezing us.
I honestly could feel my heart swell at his words. "We love you too buddy, go have some fun okay?" I said kissing the top of his head. It didn't take my mother and Danny long to head to the car that was waiting for them. I waited for the car to leave before I turned to Stephen, "We need to go have a chat with his aunt and see why she didn't take proper care of him." I said heading towards the cell. "He said his parents died in a battle but we haven't been in one in years, I mean we've had issues with rogues but not a full on battle" Stephen said and I nodded my head. The last big battle was when we were kids so maybe the aunt misled him? But why would she? Did she know he would become a seer and try to hide him? I was lost in my own thoughts when Stephen cleared his throat. "I know his aunt but Danny just came into our pack not long ago. I don't think his parents were a part of ours." Stephen said. Sadly it's common for things like this to happen. When adults have children and they die the kid or kids go to the next relative and since the kids are still too young to develop their wolves they don't need to be inducted into the packs. If they grow up in them they are automatically a part of them.
Walking down the stairs we went straight to the cell that was at the very end. She was curled into a ball in the middle of the floor. "Linda." I called out to her. At first she didn't move, slowly she started to uncurl herself and look up at us. "Luna, Alpha." She said monotone. "What happened to Danny's parents?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest. "They died visiting our family overseas. I was told rogues attacked and they didn't survive so I kept Danny." Linda said. "So why doesn't he have the things a child needs?" Stephen asked, narrowing his eyes. She slowly took a deep breath, "I knew he was going to be the next seer, I could hear him talk in his sleep. At first I thought it was just random dreams, but then I looked into our family history and found out that every other generation a boy becomes the next seer." Linda said. So does that mean Athea rotates picked families? "So why not properly take care of him?" I asked, she hasn't answered us on why she didn't. "I didn't want him to become the next seer, looking into history it should have been me." She said bitterly. "So what? You were just going to deprive him of everything? Break him down so he wouldn't be strong enough?" Stephen asked and I could feel the anger rise within him rightfully so.
"Of course not, when he got his wolf I'd hoped that he would only be a wolf. The goddess never visited me and it angered me." Linda said. What an ungrateful bitch. "We will think of what will happen to you now. you can't be released back into the pack, and going off of how you were curled into a ball I'd say it's hard for you to be inside our protection. People who have ill intentions can't handle it for long." I said tilting my head to the side. "I'll leave and never bother anyone I swear. My stomach hurts constantly, I just want to leave." She whispered. "Like Alley said. We will decide on what will happen to you but for now you will stay put." Stephen said before grabbing my hand and hauling me out of the cell room. I knew his mind was running around. How could someone do such a thing? As we walked across the lawn I started to feel a tingle in my chest which stopped me in my tracks. Almost immediately Jack and Sammie appeared at our side along with the others. "Looks like Pythia was eager to meet us." I said looking around to everyone. No one seemed scared , they looked like they were ready to fight whatever was waiting for us.
"Let's go meet her then." Diane said, "Lead the way Alley." Stephen said, looking down at me. I sent a silent prayer to the moon goddess that this wouldn't blow up in my face and we could come to some common ground.
