Chapter 87:
Alley POV:
Denver started to slow down as we reached a clearing as we climbed a hill, the trees opened up. I leaned further up on Denver so I could see what was down there, my eyes widened at the sight. Wolves everywhere! Babies, and adult ones, I'm sure I looked like a fish out of water. Eyes wide and it seemed like I couldn't keep my mouth closed. I felt Denver rumble under me. "It's not nice to laugh." I said earning a snort from Denver. "Wait before we go, are they going to be mad that we are there?" I asked, feeling a little nervous. If they don't know us they could get mad, wolves are territorial animals. "They know all about you and Stephen, they've been wondering when they would meet you both." Rose replied. Wait what? How do they know about us? Why? "How do they know about us? They've never met us." Stephen asked. Alright I need to stop thinking since everyone seems to know my thoughts. "Athea came to us and told us what was going on and what needed to be done. This is our home where she found us. The little ones are the most excited ones. The adults will not be upset or anything so no need to worry. We will protect you both no matter what." Denver replied looking over his shoulder at me.
I blew out a breath, relaxing a little. "Alright let's go meet some extended family." I said giggling at the end. Before I could realize what was going on, Denver and Rose raised their heads to release a howl that was in sync with each other, it didn't feel like a threat more of a welcoming. All the wolves that were running around, stopped and were now looking right at us. Denver and Rose began to walk forward with their heads held high like they were the most proud wolves ever. Slowly howls filled the air as they lined the sides for us to walk through, one by one they bowed as we walked by them. My hands found their way towards my chest that was filled with happiness and pride. I felt the familiar sting in my eyes from the tears that have yet to release. They don't even know us but show us a huge amount of respect. They were all beautiful, different shades of brown, white, black and gray. Some of them had mixtures of colors, different eye colors. When we got to the end Denver and Rose let us down, Stephen came over and wrapped an arm around my waist as Rose and Denver stood tall behind us. I wasn't sure what to say honestly, "Every wolf, this is Alley, my carrier and the great white witch!" Rose's voice boomed through my head, it took a lot for me not to flinch.
Howls echoed again, "Every wolf! This is Stephen, my carrier and the last of the shield royal bloodline!" Denver's voice boomed out. Deeper howls echoed and they all started stomping their paws. It's like they are all excited. "How will we talk to them? I mean obviously they can hear us but you know, how will we know what they say?" I asked, trying to keep my voice down. "You can hear them the same way you hear us, you just have to speak to one directly so that they don't overwhelm you." Denver replied. I looked around and smiled at them all, a little white wolf came running up to me, it tilted it's head to the side, I bent down and scratched it's head. "Hello there little one." I said. "HI! Alley! I'm Angelo." The little wolf said. "Hello Angelo, it is very nice to meet you. My aren't you a beautiful little pup." I said giggling. Angelo had sky blue eyes and stood just above my knees. "We heard about you and Alley, it's an honor to be in your presence." I heard one say to Stephen. We kept our link open so that we could hear what was being said. "We are the ones that are honored to see you all, we've heard about this place." Stephen replied. "What's your name?" I asked.
She turned her head towards me and tilted her head. "I am Ember." She replied, it honestly matched her, she had ember colored eyes with dark brown fur. More wolves came to introduce themselves to us and I was astonished at how welcomed we were, but in truth they needed us to endure the war so they could be sent to a new carrier, the little ones will go to children who will grow with them, the adults are for the ones who get there wolves late in life. They needed us just as much as we needed them. This was going to be the greatest day I could have ever imagined. "Let's show you both around." Denver said, nudging me forward. "You don't have to shove Denver, I'll walk." I giggled. Stephen came to stand beside me while Denver stood next to me and Rose stood next to Stephen, now that I think about it I can see how much bigger the two are versus all the other ones. I knew why they were so big but I also remember what they said about the others who had trained with them. I wonder where they are. Stephen squeezed my hand as we walked forward, this was something I would have to talk to Athea about, I would love to come and visit them all after everything is said and done. They were all precious, but for now I will gladly let Denver and Rose show us where they came from.
