CHAPTER 10

CHAPTER TEN
The Gammas bared their fangs, and summoned their wolves, adjusting and taking a stance for battle, when they saw a strange Lycan approach them, slowly, with packages. The Lycans were known for minding their business except someone had troubled their peace. They never visited any other territory except it was something crucial and serious. The Lycans and werewolves were weary of each other because the hundred year history between the wolves and the Lycans were not good. The relationship between them could be likened to that between cats and rats.
Jonathan stood in front of the Gammas, assuming the position of the leader of battle-team, as the Lycan approached.
"Greetings great warriors of Wales." Steve said after he was done removing the packages from his car.
"What does a Lycan want in Wales?" Jonathan asked.
"I have not come to fight, so tell your men to drop their weapons. I have a package for Luna Avyanna from the Lycan King." Steve stopped moving closer to the Gammas when it became obvious to him that none of them lowered their weapons or ceased their battle-stance. "Deliver these packages to the Luna then." Steve put down the packages, walked back to his car and sped out of Wales; he was done delivering his message.
"Take this to the Luna," Jonathan ordered one of the Gammas as he pointed at the packages.
"No let me be the one to do that, it's my duty." Nancy was already carrying the packages before anyone could stop her.
"How did you get here?" Jonathan barked at Nancy. He didn't realize that she followed them stealthily since they left the pack.
"I just want to serve the pack diligently. I heard that there was trouble so I decided to contribute to help. I am so sorry. I can be on my way now." Nancy explained.
"That won't be necessary, Nancy." Jonathan turned to the Gamma that was meant to deliver the package in the Luna's room, and said, "Fine, let her do it."
Avyanna went around checking how the maids and chefs were faring as it was part of her duties to do so once in a while. In her past life, after her husband chose Nancy over her, she was forced to neglect that duty; countless days passed as she drowned in depression, hurt, and frustration. Nancy, in turn, used that as an advantage to win the loyalty of Avyanna's workers. The worker's loyalty was easily acquired by Nancy because Avyanna acted less concerned and refused to interfere in anything that involved Nancy.
"How is your baby now?" Avyanna asked a maid who had taken permission to be absent from work due to her child's illness.
"My Luna, she is doing well now, all thanks to you. My daughter calls you her role model everyday and she wishes to be like you when she grows up." The maid responded in excitement.
Avyanna fought back the tears in her eyes as the maid spoke. She recalled what happened in her past life; she carried the lifeless body of the maid's child of in her hands. The war that Nancy incited bore numerous consequences; it even took the lives of women, and children.
As Avyanna walked by the maids, she nurtured the thought of protecting them. The people were depending on her for their survival and she was ready to do whatever it would take to save them.
Avyanna had to get her documents prepared for the Night of the Full Moon Feast. She didn't want her plans to be shattered so she didn't inform anyone what she wanted to do. "Good job folks. Back to work." She told the chefs to continue working while she headed to her room.
On the way, Avyanna met Nancy by the door of her room searching for something inside a box.
"What are you doing here?" Avyanna asked.
Nancy staggered as she heard Avyanna's voice. "I'm sorry my Luna, I wanted to check if there was any harmful thing inside."
Nancy rotated her gaze around to check if anyone else could hear the conversation and when she saw no one, she kicked the box towards Avyanna.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Avyanna screamed at Nancy who threw her head back as she laughed maniacally at the Luna.
"Are you having an affair now with the Lycan King?" Nancy asked.
"You're so disgusting. I am not like you. I don't snatch people's husbands."
"Ow, is that jealousy I sense from the great Luna Avyanna of Wales?" Nancy placed a hand on her chest in mockery.
Avyanna wished she could end the Omega's life right away but it wasn't the perfect time yet. "I don't have time for your childish games, you succeeded in fooling my husband, but you cannot fool me."
"Is that why you ran to the Lycan King for help? With time you won't need to call Ericson your husband again because he will be mine alone."
"You are so shameless! I wonder why the Moon Goddess had to curse my husband with such a mate like you." Avyanna spat.
"Avyanna!" Ericson growled as he walked towards them. Nancy fell to the floor, pretending to pack the items, that she had scattered on the floor, back into the box. Avyanna hissed at Nancy's performance.
"You're such a criminal." Avyanna said to Nancy. Nancy's eyes were filled with tears as she ran to hide behind her mate.
"I just wanted to help the Luna drop her package that was sent by the Lycan King and she started calling me all sorts of names. She made the box fall from my hands." Nancy wept as she clutched Ericson in a hug. Avyanna rolled her eyes in annoyance; she wasn't prepared for another scene so she picked the box up from the ground and entered her room.
Ericson patted Nancy on the back," I am so sorry for the harsh words my wife said to you but I tell you she is a nice person, she is just not used to having your presence around but in time I know she will."
"She hates me." Nancy wailed.
"Just go to your room and rest, I need to talk to my wife alone, I will meet you afterwards."
"Are you sure it's safe to do that right now? The Luna is really pissed that I held the gift the Lycan King brought for her. It's like she didn't want anyone to see that."
"Just go to your room." Ericson snarled. Nancy whimpered and tried to seek pity but Ericson didn't care about any of that. In that moment, he wanted to be with Avyanna.
Avyanna was going through the gifts one by one, amazed by what the Lycan King had sent for her before Ericson bashed her room door open.
"Avyanna are you really having an affair with the Lycan King?" Ericson roared as he saw the gift items.
"Have you forgotten how to knock? You would have knocked my door before coming in. I respect my privacy."
"When did you meet with the Lycan King?"
"Can you stop interrogating me like a child?" Avyanna snapped in anger.
"Avy what is going on between us?" Ericson asked, lowering his voice.
"I should be asking you that because you seem to be what is wrong with us."
"Is this because I didn't reject my mate? Avyanna you know I will always place you as my first priority." Those were the lies Avyanna had heard so many times. She would have easily fallen for it again if Eric said so in the past.
As Eric spoke he walked up to Avy slowly while he stared deeply into her eyes. He circled his hands around her waist and pulled her closer to himself. She wore a light revealing cloth, and this made it possible for Ericson to easily and gradually take it off. Avyanna didn't comprehend what Ericson was aiming to do until he pouted his lips, closed his eyes, and leaned into her face. He kissed her gently; shutting his eyes and letting his tongue play a sweet melody on her sugary lips.
She quickly removed her face from his imminent lips and struggled with his grip on her waist. She felt irritated by the mere thought of making out with the man she once called and meant, 'her forever love'.
Avyanna could not understand if the feelings she had for her husband had died in her second life but the closer he got, the more she hated it.
"I'm not in the mood for this right now." Avyanna pushed Eric away as she covered the revealing parts of her body.
"Come on Avy, I can't even remember the last time we did this."
"I don't want you near me. You have Nancy to please you now so leave me be."
"Nancy is nothing! Just an Omega who happens to be my mate."
"I really have some work to do before the Night of the Full Moon Feast, so if you can excuse me, I would like to go back to work." Avyanna turned away from him.
"Avyanna there's something I have to tell you concerning the feast.
"What is it?"
"You know that nobody would like to go to the Feast with Nancy and I had promised her that I would take her as my date since she is already my mate. I don't want you to be angry or feel bad that I don't want to go with you."
Avyanna was heartbroken at the thought of it. She wondered how the man that wanted to kiss her just talked about how he didn't want her to go on a date with her. She was heartbroken but she decided to show nonchalance.
"I don't have an issue with that; I could pick Charles or Alfred as my date since they are the hottest guys in the pack." Avyanna smirked.
