CHAPTER 53

CHAPTER FIFTY THREE
" It's nothing, just the blood stains of a wild deer." Baron said. He wasn't expecting to see Avyanna come outside of her room.
"What's the blood stain of a wild deer doing on your clothes? and you reek of so much blood." She squeezed her nostrils and her lips pouted as she tried to ward off the smell.
"You don't need to worry about that. It's just that I couldn't sleep, neither could I do any work so I decided to go hunting in order to clear my head." He too looked down on his cloth and observed the incredibly large amount of blood on his clothing.
"Oh. Hunting does sound like a good stress relief mechanism." She released her squeezed nostrils and allowed the putrid stench of blood to take over.
"Yeah, look I should leave you then. I need to clean myself up before another person sees me this way." Baron said as he quickly turned around to enter his room. He didn't like the fact that Avyanna saw him that way.
Just as he was about to shut the door of his room, Avyanna's swiftly poked her hands through the ajar door, almost closing, and blocked the door from closing any further.
"Wait please."Avyanna pleaded in an inaudible tone. Baron had almost slammed her hand if not for his quick reflexes. He just held the door back, an inch away for doing her fingers in.
"What is wrong?" Baron opened the door wider to let Avyanna in, and he shifted backwards to prevent them from getting close to each other.
"We need to talk. I know you will tell me to stay outside for you to freshen up but I wouldn't mind waiting inside your room for you to be done. I promise I won't cause any trouble." Avy stood at the entrance as she spoke.
"What's the difference? Why don't you just wait in your room then I can come and meet you when I'm done?" Baron suggested with concern in his voice.
"Okay let me be honest with you, I'm scared, so many things are happening, Amanda died and then now my husband, I can't stay alone because I don't understand what is going on, I could sleep and not wake up..." Avyanna spoke with obvious fear in her voice. Her eyes grew teary and her voice cracked.
"Ericson!"
"Yes. My Zeta, Jonathan just called me some minutes ago to tell me about that and it's making me so scared."
"Shhhh...I understand. I assure you that nobody is going to hurt you in my territory as long as I am alive. Please give me few minutes I'll be out of the shower." He widened the door some more and ushered Avyanna in. She wasn't as scared as she was when she spoke. She walked into the room almost timidly as Baron went into his bathroom to take his bath and get rid of the clothes with the bloodstain.
Avyanna used the opportunity to observe the kingly looking room. She saw the comfy bed that hung from the ceiling as she circled it. She then moved to the windows that were shielded by dark grey window blinds. She slid it open and immersed herself in the view of the pack house from there. She could see every house and every street. She could see the way the Lycans were organized and their every move cordinated. She smiled approvingly at the view then returned to scouting the room.
Inside the bathroom, Baron was struggling to get the bloodstains away from his body. There were a few drops of blood that splattered on his skin and it had stayed for so long, so he had to do extra scrubbing to get the stains off.
"This is going to take longer than I thought." He sighed.
"Did you say something?" Avyanna called out from the room.
"No. Nothing. I'm just trying to get this blood out." Baron replied.
"Okay." Avyanna said as she walked through the room. She observed the pictures that hung on the wall and the ones on his nightstand. She saw pictures of Baron smiling as a child.
There was a particular picture that caught her interest the more, a picture of Baron pecking another lady on the cheek and grinning so proudly and innocently.
"Well, hello there... You must be Amanda." Avy whispered and ran her fingers through the picture gently, almost like she wanted to get a feel of the happiness that resided within the picture.
She then moved from the picture and saw the ones that Baron featured in alongside his sisters.
"Aw, look at Baby Rania." Avyanna giggled silently.
She then saw the largest picture on the wall, which was a picture of a man and woman she had never seen.
"I'm guessing you two must be Mister And Missus Fergus." Avyanna said silently, but this time Baron heard her because he just emerged from the bathroom, clean and free of the stench or stain of blood.
"You're right. Those are my parents, you've never seen them before because the are dead."
After dressing up, Baron was using a towel to dry his wet hair. He wore a silky shirt with loose buttons and shorts. Avyanna could see Baron's perfectly sculptured body beneath the translucent silky shirt that he wore. His muscles potruded effortlessly, enticing Avyanna who unknowingly admired him for a long moment.
Immediately she realized she had been staring, she shook her head and got rid of the thoughts.
'This is not the time for that Avyanna.' she said to herself.
"I'm really sorry for your loss." She said as she looked away from his body and into his eyes.
"There is no need to apologize, it's been a long time ago." He moved closer to her.
"Rania told me that the room you allocated to me belonged to you while your parents were alive and when they passed away, you normally go there to mourn your parents because it brought back memories. It means that the room is special to you." Avyanna spoke with a calm in her voice, wanting to evoke words from him.
"Rania! She must pay for talking too much these days." Baron sighed." Yes she is right and the room is special to me." He said in defeat.
"She also said you never let anyone in." Avyanna continued.
"Yes that's true."
"So why do you let me stay there? They are absolutely many rooms in here but you allocated that one to me." She crossed her arms and focused intensely on him. She was finding it difficult to not look at his abs.
"Why do you ask?" He was in front of her already.
"Because I find it kinda weird, no offense though. But when your ex-girlfriend died, you pinned everything down on me but then you tell me to stay in the most important room here that you didn't even let your sisters in, why?" Avyanna opened up.
"Because you are special to me and that's what you should understand. I told you already that I like you and not for the purpose of just going to bed with you, I intend to court you as long as everything is cleared between you and Ericson." Baron spoke too calmly and gently, peering into her eyes.
"Are you being serious about that?" Her lips parted as her heart warmed up to him.
"I've never been this serious in my life but I'm not going to rush you into doing anything you want. I know you're going through a lot and you need some space and time to yourself, I am ready to wait for you. About what I said the other day when I was drunk, I am truly sorry Avyanna, I never meant anything I said, I was drunk and everything I said was under agression because I went to investigate Amanda's body and I saw werewolf marks on her neck, I was wondering why she would die when you just arrived my territory and Steve suggested that it could be someone trying to turn me against you." That was the first time she saw him speak with so much emotions. Baron was riddled with so many emotions, his countenance was loosened.
"Damn! That's not fair." She spat out.
"Yeah I know but trust me, you don't need to worry about anything, I am going to get to the root of the matter soon. I have been doing some investigation about the case." He walked away, as he also ushered her to follow him to where she could sit.
"Thank you. It feels good to hear that from you. Baron I told you I wanted us to talk about something." Avyanna said, refusing his offer to sit down.
"At least you're not calling me your highness, so it's a good start because it shows that we are on good terms now." He grinned.
"Yeah, I don't think we should be quarrelling at the moment."
"What's wrong Avyanna?" He asked in concern.
"Nothing is wrong, I just wanted to inform you that I should be returning to my pack house tomorrow or next because they really need me." She couldn't look into his eyes anymore as she broke the news to him.
"That's not an issue, I could drop you there and then I'll pick you up when you're done." He thought she was seeking help from him, but he would come to realize that it was the opposite.
"It's not that. What I am trying to say is that, I don't think there will be any need for us to work together again but I could still keep the alliance between us for future sake but for now I need to go back to the pack house." She looked back at him, speaking almost authoritatively.
"Why? What made you change your mind? Have you forgotten about the laws we wanted to make?" Baron moved closer to hold her hands.
"There will be no need to go through all those procedures and stress, I did the divorce with Ericson yesterday and I had openly announced for the separation of our packs." She removed her hands from his.
"Wait! I don't understand, what time yesterday?" He asked agitatedly.
"After I came back from Alpha Thomas' kingdom." She said, wondering why he was agitated.
"Ohhh I wasn't aware, but I'm sorry Avyanna I don't think I can let you go just like that." He said, the tears that he had been holding back was evident, but not dropping.
"And why is that?" She wondered why he would be that way, for the first time since she knew him. Emotions were a good look on him but it was a bit absurd.
"Because, Avyanna... You are my mate." He said, a subtle tear escaping his eyes.
