CHAPTER 54

CHAPTER FIFTY FOUR
Avyanna was shocked, she couldn't believe the Moon Goddess gave her a Lycan Alpha as her mate" But why now?" Avyanna thought to herself.
Baron did not want to break the news to Avyanna yet, this was not how he had planned everything to be, he just couldn't let his mate walk out of his life like that. He knew Avyanna was a tough one and with everything going around her, one would need a tangible reason to keep her.
"Why are you telling me this right now?" She stared into his teary eyes and felt a bit of truth in his sentence. The more she stared, the clearer it became and her eyes almost teared like Barons'.
"Because I want you to have a reason to face me again. With you finding out about the truth, you won't just leave me here, and I can't just let you go like that. I need you in my life Avyanna because I've been waiting my whole life to find out who my mate is." He took her hands again and squeezed it softly, then he kissed her knuckles with his eyes closed. He remained like that for a brief moment, inhaling the sweet scent of hibiscus on her skin.
"When did you find out?" She asked, causing him to raise his head and look at her.
"I felt your strong scent right from the day I met you at Laurel Hill although I didn't see your face." He still held her hands as he spoke.
"What! It was you all along and I had gotten so scared that day and I had to run back to Wales." She removed her hands from his in disbelief. She couldn't believe it. Baron was the apparition that scared her. She even wondered if he was the one she was having nightmares about and then she grew suspicious.
"Yes it was me, you ran before I could come and reach you. It seemed you felt it too and it wasn't only me. It was during the night of the Full Moon Feast that I found out that my mate was the famous Luna of Wales, Avyanna Windsor." She moved to her again. He could tell that the little trust she had for him was fading away so he did everything he could to make her believe that she could trust him.
"Honestly I felt your scent but I didn't know who it was so I just let it go." She answered, the almost-lost trust resurfacing.
"I know that's why I asked you about your wolf because at first I was feeling bad that you saw me, yet you pretended but when you told me about your wolf, I understood the situation that's why I didn't want to rush. I didn't want to be the only one feeling your pain, sadness and Joy, I wanted you to feel mine too as mates are supposed to. How did you think I found your location easily at Thomas' kingdom? I tracked your scent there. Why do you think I appeared in your territory when you had an issue or when you were in a fight? I can feel everything you're feeling regardless of the fact that you haven't allowed me inside your head yet." He took her hands again as he poured out his feelings. The tears that almost dropped from his eyes dried up once again, as he consciously tried to control his emotions. He hasn't felt that way since Amanda.
"Wow, this is a whole lot to take in." She didn't remove her hands this time, rather she accepted it.
"I know but I am happy I could tell you. So how did you divorce your husband without my knowledge?" His smirky facial expression returned immediately, but there was this subtle look of guilt on his face too.
"I got angry and I took the divorce papers back to Wales and I made him sign it, I also separated my pack from his. But I gave everyone a free will to decide whichever side they want to be on since most of them have families due to our joint packs." She answered with enthusiasm. She thought her actions through and was satisfied with it.
"Well that's very wise and considerate of you." He patted her knuckles.
"Yeah. It was really a tough decision to make but there is no going back." She seemed downcasted.
"It's a good thing you did that because I can't believe he would hurt you that way." He empathized, stroking her hands as he talked.
"Yeah I'm glad I did it. I feel free even though I have things to worry about at least I won't need to face the Omega again." She then felt relieved.
"Okay that's true, No more of that bitch. So when do you plan on going?" Baron asked.
"Tomorrow morning I guess, I can't leave my pack house in the hands of that Omega, news reaching me is that Ericson died last night." Avyanna said with no remorse, yet she was sad.
"Seriously?" Baron asked in subtle agitation, and a sweaty nose.
"Yes even though he hurt me, why would someone kill him after I got the divorce and the people are pointing accusing fingers on me just like in the case of Amanda. Whoever is behind all of this should better tell me what they want from me instead of going ahead to murder people." She got more frustrated as she opened up to a very guilty looking Baron. Avyanna couldn't notice the look of guilt on his face because she couldn't look into his eyes.
"You shouldn't be blamed for anything, nothing is your fault and one thing you should know that even if the world should turn against you, I will support you." He squeezed her palms gently as he spoke with genuine feelings.
"That's very sweet of you." She sniffled.
"Avyanna please can you promise me one thing?" He asked, making her to look up at him.
"What is that?" She asked.
"I know Ericson has broken your heart, but can you promise me that you're gonna give me a chance or let me in, at least allow me to take care of you?" The lost tears came up again and Avyanna saw it; the purity of his words and actions.
"I don't know what to say but just give me time to think about everything but I know for sure that I will come back for my mate." She said, almost looking away but she was so lost in his eyes.
"Thank you. I should allow you to arrange your things then and I would advise you to inform Rania as well because she is like a big fan of yours in this place." He sniffled and giggled.
"Sure I will." She sniffled and giggled too.
"One last hug atleast before I get to see you again?" He opened up his arms and smiled at her. She rolled her eyes backwards as she blushed, then she fell into his warm embrace. She then wrapped her arms around his hard body, feeling his muscles and heartbeat pulsing slowly.
For the first time in a long turbulent time, Avyanna felt the closest thing to peace.
*****
Avyanna took Baron's advice to say goodbye to Rania and Gina before she left, especially Gina. So she summoned the girls to her room. She didn't begin with the goodbyes because there werw other things she wanted to talk about, the first was...
"I can't believe you through with this divorce. It's just so hard to accept that it's really over." Gina said.
Her divorce.
Rania didn't fully comprehend the gravity of the divorce but she held Avyanna's hand to console her, "I know it's tough, but sometimes it's for the best. Have you been getting support from friends and family? You know I'm talking about my brother."
Avyanna chuckled silently and said, "Yes, and it's really helped. I don't know what I would do without his compassion and encouragement."
Gina smiled and hugged Avyanna, "I'm grateful and happy for your support system. I can understand just how hard hard it is to let go of a relationship that was such a big part of your life."
Rania chipped in, "Yeah, and remember, you're not alone. And you deserve to be happy. Don't be afraid to lean on your loved ones and seek professional help if you need it." Rania joined in on the hug.
"Absolutely. Take care of yourself and don't be afraid to move on and start a new chapter in your life." Gina consoled. It seemed like the sisters were in a competition for Avyanna's attention.
"Well, speaking of new chapters, there is another thing I want to let you guys know." Avyanna said, terminating the group hug.
"Well, spill it, what is it?" Gina asked.
"So, I saw Baron in his room earlier today and he totally..."
"Oh my gosh, that's so exciting! He let you inside his room?" Rania squealed, "He doesn't let anyone in there, not even me, I think he likes you."
Gina smiled and concurred, "I think Rania is right, he is in love with you."
"It's more than that.." Avyanna heaved a brief sigh of relief.
"What could be more than Baron falling in love?" Gina asked in sheer excitement.
"Yeah, what could be?" Rania was so excited. The sisters were so lost in happiness, they didn't even realize the look on Avyanna's face until she said;
"I am his mate."
There was a silence, before the girls leaped in happiness again.
"That's even better." Rania squealed.
"What do you think about it? Gina asked.
"Well, I just received the news so I need a lot of time to take it in. Plus, I just got out of a relationship and I need to get back to my pack house and sort a lot of things out." Avyanna said.
"You're leaving?" Rania asked with a soft voice.
"Yeah, Rania." Avyanna stroked her hair to appease her sober face.
"Aw, I'm going to miss you." Gina hugged her.
"Me too." Rania said and another group hug ensued.
Avyanna felt at peace again as she received warmth from the sisters. It was refreshing and soothing but she had to go.
She allowed a moment before she broke off the hug and said, "It was great spending a week with you guys."
"Yeah, me too. I had a great time. We should definitely see you again sometime." Rania still hugged Avy.
"Definitely. I'll keep seeing you both." Avyanna smiled. "Now help me load these bags."
