CHAPTER 81
CHAPTER EIGHTY ONE
Avyanna wailed for hours.
She knew it had been a long time since she last cried about anything. Yes, on an occasional basis, she would feel sad or angry about incidents that happened, but if she had known, she would have saved herself from the whole trouble.
She had cried all through the night till the present day of dew. She stood at the edge of her balcony, viewing the mist and fogs that subdued the green grasses. She wondered how she would overcome such tragedy alone.
She looked over her kingdom that was once a shadow of its former self. The walls had been breached and the houses that were situated close to where the battle occurred were in ruins.
The sight of her kingdom would have been displeasing if she did not see people rebuilding and restructuring the kingdom.
The sounds of hammer hitting nails and the hums of corporation filled the air as the people of Wales fixed their kingdom.
Even though the sight pleased her, her heart was still torn apart because of what she had just discovered. Her heart was beating faster than the usual. She knew she needed revival; from all the agony, but who would offer that to her?
“It really sucks what happened you know?” Katie spoke.
“He was the only one I trusted.” Avy sniffled.
“I guess he had a good reason to do so.” Katie said.
“That’s not what hurts. What hurts me is the fact that he never told me about it even when I cried to him about it. He consoled me Katie and I trusted him.” Avy buried her head in her palms.
The Moon Goddess already gave her the revival which she sought, but it seemed like her whole revival and second chance made no sense and it had no logarithm.
Ever since Avyanna was given a second chance at life, it had been the same old paradigm of deceit, lies, hatred, wickedness and the host of evils. She hoped that life would be different and her life was all going to go according to plan.
Avyanna desperately wished that she had no warlord or warlocks to chase after, or any kingdom to fight in order to protect her own pack.
She felt that life would be easier to live. A life where she had nothing to do with the supernatural; no struggle, no challenges, no wars to fight, no battles, all Avyanna wished to do was live, grow, school, get a career, love and regenerate.
“Well, no need to beat yourself up about it.” Katie consoled.
“Oh Katie.”
Life was so horrible for Avyanna, especially now that her only source of joy, was nothing but a delusion. A mirage.
“What was his reason to kill Ericson? Does it mean that he had plans to kill me too? Was he just using the ‘perfect mates’ bullshit to overshadow me and get my kingdom, my pack?” Avyanna sobbed to Katie. “How could I trust a Lycan? When I knew that all they care about is obtaining more power.” None of the pain Avyanna felt made sense to her, “What was his damn reason?”
“Oh, come on Avyanna. Deep down in the depths of your heart, you know he must have had a good reason for doing so.”
Avyanna could never answer any of her questions alone. She needed someone to talk to and Katie was not saying what she needed to hear. But who could she talk to, if not her parents who died years ago? Those were the people that never disappointed her.
“I need to get some air.” She whispered.
Ayvanna got up from her balcony and dressed up, still reflecting on how her life had been. She reflected on how she lost Ericson to Nancy once, and how she had lost Baron to Nancy again; even if it was not directly.
She remembered when Nancy said the old myths never lost their trend, “Too much of laughter for sure incurs sorrow.” Avyanna heaved.
I no time, Avyanna was done dressing up. She wore a dark shade, all so no one would know she had being crying.
She spoke to her pack, before leaving to motivate them to keep up with the construction. She gave the impression that she was emotionally solidified and nothing in the whole world could shake a strong tower like herself. She reminded them that they were family and no matter whatever happened they stuck together.
Avyanna walked out of her kingdom with her shoulder high and head up. She was heading to visit her parents, talk to them, and possibly cry her eyes out.
***
Lauren hills had polite memories for Avyanna. It was her place of comfort, her place of solitude, even though it was a diabolic graveyard.
“Mama! Papa!” Avyanna fell to her knees on her parent’s grave. She cried some more but she could feel nothing but emptiness.
“You never warned me about love. You only encouraged me, but you never told me that it took a lot of strength to love. You never told me I would still have to fight wars even when I am in love. You encouraged me to love and you taught me everything but not about the intricacies of love, why? …. Why? ….” Avyanna’s voice went sharp out of Lauren hills and down to the valley. She cried and murmured about all the pain she had to face alone; all the pain with nobody to share it with.
She remembered how she would tease her mom to give her a baby brother or sister. It was a child’s joke to her then, but now it was an adult reality.
Avyanna kept on lamenting, she knew it was very difficult for anybody to visit Lauren hills and even if they did, she did not care.
Avyanna thought of what her parents would have told her. She thought of possible solutions to her predicament, but nothing was coming to her foggy and empty mind.
She then sat on the gravel grave because she was already exhausted from the kneeling posture.
Just immediately she felt her strength being zapped out entirely. She sensed a presence, but she saw no one.
“It’s all in my head.” She felt it was just her mind playing tricks on her, but the more the presence drew closer, the weaker she became.
She closed her eyes and ignored it, trying to drown out the overwhelming feeling.
“Crying is not a good look on you.” A soft baritone voice spoke.
Avyanna popped open her eyes and fidgeted her gaze from her left to her right, searching for who spoke. Then she finally looked behind her and saw a strange looking man.
“Crying is not a good look on anyone.” Avyanna nodded her head back and forth to signify that she was okay, then she dabbed her eyes.
“I was just passing by and I heard you lament.”
“Keep passing then.” Avyanna could only let out a weak smile. She did not need pity.
The man just walked closer to Avyanna. “Parents?”
“Yes.”
The man who emitted such powerful aura seemed strange to Avyanna. He was calm and collected and he spoke with an authority that made her pay attention to him.
“Life will never give you what you cannot handle. It will select the strong ones and train them personally. It will make you ready for the next challenge to come, because it knows the ones that can handle power, and the ones that can’t handle themselves.”
“Let me stop you right there. Where are you going with this?” Avyanna questioned the man with curiosity.
He keeps talking, “So, when the one with power starts manifesting, the ones with nothing will follow. I heard you cry about a love forlorn and now it is apparent that you have lost a lot to death.” He started making a little sense to Avyanna, “Believe me when I tell you that I may not fully understand how you feel, but I know what it feels like. Now you have limited choices; you can either be a loser or you can choose to wield the power that you have before someone else takes it from you.”
“Doesn’t sound like much of a choice.” Avy sniffled.
“It would be tragic if you chose the latter.” The man chuckled softly.
For the first time since Avyanna left Baron at the forest with Nancy and Rania, this would be the first time she let a weak laugh out of her mouth.
The man seemed like a good person. He had a way with his words and she felt relieved that a complete stranger could make her feel comfortable. The only thing she couldn’t figure out was why he had such an ominous presence.
“Aw gee, look at me. I thought you were incapable of laughing.” He smiled.
Avyanna had only one question she wanted to ask the stranger, but her wolf Katie did not want her to ask it to him. But the fact that the Stranger spoke with wisdom drove Avyanna to ask her question.
“I sincerely appreciate your time, and kind words, but I have a question for you.”
“Ask.”
“If a friend who has been good for three years, hurt you occasionally on the fourth and fifth year, would you do away with the person?” Avyanna hoped for an answer that she wanted to hear.
“Creatures were generally created to be selfish and sometimes very one sided, but when you see a creature who has tried to place you as a priority, you should know they care. Give them a second chance to prove loyalty again. I once did the same for a young girl who always disappointed me, but at the end she became loyal again and gave me the best result to what I wanted. Some chances prove to be futile sometimes, but let wisdom guide you always.” The man concluded by giving Avyanna a smile.
“That is… very encouraging.” Avyanna said, a thought forming.
“Don’t say it Avyanna! I don’t trust this man’s energy.” Katie warned.
“You should come visit me in my kingdom. I don’t mind having such a wise council by my side in these perilous times.” Avyanna smiled. “I’m Avyanna.” She said to the nice stranger who made her regain what was left of her confidence and joy.
“I don’t mind paying a smart girl like yourself a visit.” He let out a happy smile.
Avyanna could not tell who she had just given access to her pack and her kingdom.
“You don’t mind telling me your name, do you? Or you would like to keep it and remain a mystery?” Avyanna searched his blue eyes for an answer.
He chuckled silently, “There is nothing mysterious about me. I am Theseus. Theseus Brute.” He offered a hand to Avy and she shook it. The hand he offered turned out to be a helping hand for Avyanna to get up from the floor.
Theseus and Avyanna departed Lauren Hills, feeling accomplished with the conversation they had just had. Avyanna felt relieved that she made a new friend even at her worst.
Theseus, on the other hand, knew that he finally had his prey exactly where he wanted her.
Nancy’s plan worked perfectly just the way she said it would. The attack on the kingdom, that would lead to seeking refuge with the Lycan king, and the uneventful heartbreak that would isolate the Luna and prepare her for Theseus to do what he willed.
Now it was Theseus’ time to drill his way to her heart and all that he desired from the Luna.
