CHAPTER 52

CHAPTER FIFTY TWO
Thomas was staring through the windows of his palace when his phone rang, distracting him from the solitude he immersed himself in. He was taking in the quaint view of his eccentric kingdom while devising plans to make the kingdom richer. While he stared at the kingdom with a faint smile on his face, he recalled the point in time he ripped to shreds, the berserker that terrorized his kingdom and killed his parents. He recalled the things he had to do in order to end the terror that plagued his kingdom, before his unsettling ringing tone took his mind off everything.
“Who could that be …” He reached for his phone in his left pocket, took it out, and saw the caller ID: Killer Bitch, then he received the call.
“Well, well, well, If it isn’t the one and only Nancy.” He smirked. He wasn’t expecting a call from his partner-in-diabolical crime to call him anytime soon, so he could sense that the call was going to be an important one. He ceased looking at his kingdom and focused on the phone call.
“Alpha Thomas!” Nancy chuckled proudly, “I can bet a million silver coins that you were sulking over your kingdom.” She chortled, getting up to ensure that her room was soundproof and no one was eavesdropping.
“What you call sulking is my deep reflection of how I can make my kingdom greater.” He inhaled a deep breath, smiling as he looked over his kingdom.
“Need I remind you, a kingdom that secretly belongs to Him.” Nancy said with a smile, returning to sit on her bed comfortably.
“How could I ever forget.” His tone seemed to change and his countenance dimmed to gloom as soon as Nancy implied that his kingdom wasn’t his. The Alpha seemed down but deep down he knew that she was right.
“I can’t believe you actually did it.” Nancy smiled. “I know you didn’t really like him because of how he took over your love interest, but damn! You actually did it.” She sounded excited as she praised him.
“I don’t quite follow, what are you talking about?” Thomas asked, genuinely confused by her words.
“Don’t play coy with me Alpha Thomas, we both know you did it.” She was so sure about what she said. “A silver dagger through the heart? damn. It didn’t sound like something you would do but…”
“I’m being serious Nancy. What are you talking about?” Thomas cut her off, asking with sheer curiosity. He had no idea what she implied and he grew ever curious.
“Wait, you’re serious? You have no idea?” The confusion then transmitted to her and she squinted her eyes trying to figure out if she might be wrong in her assumptions.
“Yes I am serious. What are you talking about?” Thomas was calm and collected, just like he always was. The only thing missing was his maniacal smile.
“Oh dear. You are clueless. You mean you haven’t heard that Alpha Ericson is dead?” She asked to sate her brewing confusion.
“What? Now that’s some good news. I just had a few drinks with him yesterday.” His smile returned to his face; it was almost like the smile never left.
“What was he doing in your kingdom? Know what, never you mind. Here I was thinking that it was you who finally killed him.” She tut-tutted in disappointment.
“No, it wasn’t me, but I wish it was. If it was me I would prefer to kill him slowly. Also, If I wanted to end him, I would’ve used my bare claws and ripped him to shreds.” The Alpha beamed as he fantasized about killing the already dead Ericson.
“Classic Alpha Thomas.” Nancy laid on her bed as she chuckled.
“Well now that he is out of the way, we can move on to better things. He won’t be a problem anymore.” Thomas said.
“Surely. Now we move on ahead with the main plan.” Nancy concurred.
“We can’t spend our time thinking about Ericson. He was just the bait we needed to carry out the main plan. Poor Eric thought he was so important to this story.” His smile grew wider, and his soul grew happier at the news of Ericson's demise.
“I have to admit, he was a good bait and a really bad wolf in bed.” She purred.
“You just couldn’t infiltrate the pack house without getting to fuck him could you? Disgusting.” Thomas shook his head, not disappointed, just accepting the fact that Nancy was still… Nancy.
“Nope.” She moaned in delight, reminiscing the steamy moments she shared with Ericson. “So if none of us killed him, who did? Do you think the Dark master finally …” Nancy asked, more curious than Thomas was when he found out that Ercison was dead.
“Shhh… Do not go down that path. If He did it, I’m pretty sure I would have known by now. I might have even known before you told me.” Thomas bragged.
“But think about it, who else do you know is as powerful as that to sneak in and end an Alpha in the dead of the night without any trace?” Nancy had a hint of fear in her voice as she talked about this … dark master. She knew about the relationship that Ericson and Thomas had but Ericson had no idea who Nancy was. He still thought she was a helpless omega who was his one true mate, but from the looks of it Nancy was not, but a dangerous malevolent foe who wouldn’t even mourn his death.
“Maybe it is Avyanna.” Thomas suggested.
“It could be. She must be more heartless than I gave her credit for.” Nancy spat in jealousy. “It would make a lot of sense if it was actually her. You need to see the way I came in between them and made her nothing to him. He couldn’t even stand for her anymore because of me.” She bragged of her ability to make Ericson a lesser Alpha. “Ericson must have been an Alpha wolf but he was no Alpha male.”
“Enough about Ericson, you deviant.” Thomas chortled at her words. “Were you able to obtain the deed to Wales and the pack house?” he asked.
“Yes, I was. Matter of fact, I run the Pack house now.” She smirked proudly.
“Terrific. The Devil will be pleased.” Thomas said.
“Oh come on. You still call him that?” Nancy heaved.
“Yes. Yes I do. Next time you reach out to me, I want to see the plan in full motion. I did my part to separate the packs finally. Now you are in control, I want you to …”
“Geez… I know the plan already. You don’t have to spell it out. You’re going to ruin the surprise and the fun.” She said.
“Good.” Thomas ended the call. Then he returned to looking over his kingdom, things were going according to plan.
***
Avyanna lay in her cozy room at the Lycan territory, trying her best to take her mind off everything that had happened. From the Amanda incident, to her kidnap, to the discovery of the hidden secret behind her parent’s death, to the divorce and the separation of her pack from Ericson.
The irony of it all was that, the more she tried to not think about it, the more the thoughts, memories, and heartbreak kept flooding in. She even covered her face with a pillow and screamed into it. She bit down on the pillow to muffle and silence her sobs.
She felt true pain.
As she drowned in the pain, her phone rang. She wasn’t going to receive the call if it wasn’t Jonathan that called her.
“My Luna.” The tone of Jonathan’s voice seemed to have an indication that he was worried, confused, and panicking. This made Avyanna curious because Jonathan was not one to worry.
She wiped her tears, cleared her throat away from the speaker of the phone and said, “You sound worried Jonathan, should I be worried?”
“I really doubt there is any need to be worried, but there is …” Jonathan’s agitation grew more obvious by the second.
“What happened? You’re rambling. You never ramble.” Avyanna was firm.
“I have some really bad news.” He said in defeat.
“Well that has kinda been the norm these days. What is it this time?” She wasn’t the least bit phased by the imminent bad news she was about to receive. She was sure that nothing could break her anymore.
Jonathan paused, taking a deep breath, allowing for an unsettling silence to ensue. He was unable to bring himself to say the news until Avyanna said, “We don’t have all day John.”
“Alpha Ericson is dead.” He ripped the figurative band-aid right off.
Avyanna was wrong, there was news that could hurt and break her some more and she just received it; the death of Ericson, her ex-husband. Even though she had so many mixed feelings about the whole situation.
“When did this happen?” She asked in shock. Her shock was due to the fact that she was just with him the previous night and there was no way that he would have died, without her knowledge and since she was the last person with him, it was not looking good for her. She surmised that it was only someone from inside the pack house that did it.
“Last night.” Jonathan confirmed.
“Cause of death?” She almost cried as she asked but she held it in.
“Stab wound to the chest.” Jonathan replied rigidly.
“Where is he now?” Avyanna asked.
“We cremated him before the pack house.”
Avyanna couldn’t say anything else. She was dumbstruck at the news.
“The pack house has been a mess since you left.” Jonathan continued, “There has been a serious commotion and Nancy has declared herself the leader.”
“That bitch. I am sure she is the one that killed him.” Avyanna spat.
“On the contrary, She has also led people to believe that you had a hand in this.”
“I wouldn’t expect any less from her. Do the people believe?”
“From the looks of it, she has been plotting this for a while now. A lot of the people have been brainwashed into thinking that she will save them.” Jonathan spoke with anger.
“I need you to hold down the fort for a while Jonathan. I will return to set things back in order.” She ended the call. She feared she might have broken down in tears, and she didn’t want that to happen.
Everything had become so overwhelming for her, she decided to leave the room ro clear her head.
Just as she stepped foot outside her room, she met Baron just about to enter his room. He wasn’t dressed like he normally would, he seemed to be in pain, and he reeked of blood. The closer she observed his black attire, the more she could see that it was drenched in blood stains.
“Hey, Avyanna… How are … I am worried about you. If you don’t want to talk to me then it’s fine. I just want to know that you are okay.” Baron
Out of immediate curiosity and unprovoked concern, she disregarded his words and cut him off, asking, “How did you get blood all over yourself?”
Baron stared at Avyanna like an innocent rabbit caught in a trap, while she waited patiently for an answer.
