CHAPTER 59

CHAPTER FIFTY NINE

The room vibrated in silence and tension as Theseus searched the faces of his minions at the roundtable.
All his minions ruled over great kingdoms and were regarded as saviors of people. He made sure that all his minions were evil but no one would ever suspect a thing, keeping his identity a myth. The name; Theseus, the Dark Oracle, was whispered around campfires but even the people that called his name did not believe that he existed.
But there he was sitting on his throne in his realm; a realm unknown to the world, save for his minions.
At the round table was seated Marcellus; the Alpha of the Renegade Pack. A pack of werewolves who were once Alphas. Marcellus was rumored to be the most powerful werewolf alive. Even the members of his pack rarely saw his face and he barely spoke. Even when everyone at the table hailed Theseus when he appeared, Marcellus merely grunted his words. His eyes were a dark piercing brown and he had scars on his face which made him look more evil and dangerous. Marcellus was sixty years old.
Seated beside Marcellus was Abel; the Alpha of the Wesley Pack. A pack of the pioneer werewolf family. The Wesley family is believed to be the only family that was visited by the moon goddess and endowed with the ability to summon wolves that didn’t need the full moon to be at peak strength. Abel had yellow eyes and he was arguably the most handsome male at the table. He looked like he was still in his early thirties, but in reality, he was seventy nine years old.
After Alpha Abel was Day’Nja; the Alpha of the Nja Colony. It was called a colony because he did not just preside over a pack of werewolves but also a coven of witches. The dark-skinned Day’Nja had a skin that was riddled with white hairs. His eyes shone brown, it almost seemed like it was yellow. He was forty years old.
Beside Day’Nja was Alphonse; a seven hundred year old Vampire, and Ricci; Alphonse’s six hundred year old son. The vampires walked the earth, disguised as humans who owned the largest construction company in the world. They would fake their deaths every eighty years and use different names and front as their own offspring. They were very rich and they had control over so many world resources, even in the werewolf kingdoms.
Adjacent to Alphonse and Ricci was Daniella; the ruthless siren who was eighty six years old.
Beside her was the Azul, the abomination. He was a hybrid that possessed the genes of a Vampire and a Werewolf. Whenever his name was called, so was terror. There was not a soul that crossed him that was still alive. He was two hundred years old, but he still looked like he was in his late thirties. He was always contesting with Abel for who was the most handsome, but he rarely always won the argument.
After Azul was Alpha Thomas; the Alpha of a kingdom of endangered species and werewolves, and Nancy; the last tribrid of the Recutij clan.
Then at the head of the table was Theseus. He had a properly structured face that was beautified with beards that always looked like they were shaved three days ago. His hair was very dark and long when he was not an apparition emerging from a dark portal. He had blue eyes and a relaxed countenance. He was always calm and his lips gave the impression that he was almost smirking. Every one of his trusted minions regarded him as the dark oracle but none of them knew what kind of being he was. They knew nothing of his history and how he possessed such powers, neither did they know how long he had existed for. His minions regarded him as different things. Some would call him; the Dark Master or the moon god, while others even went as far as calling him; the Devil.
His voice was deep and piercing even though he spoke without effort or the intention to come off as threatening., even when he called one of his minions' names.
“Day’nja?”
“Yes master.” The revered Alpha answered in all humility.
“Why are your witches not obliging to your laws anymore? My laws.” Theseus asked.
“I sincerely apologize, my lord. The witches will be put in their place. The uprising in the kingdom made them …” Day’nja began.
“Fix it. I do not want any more excuses. I need the witches to stay loyal to you without any compromises.” Theseus spoke.
The table remained silent as he kept searching their faces.
“My lord, if I may?” Ricci got up with a raised hand.
“Sit your ass down boy!” Alphonse whispered, gritting his teeth and staring intensely at his son.
“Stop calling me boy.” Ricci whispered in reply to his overbearing father.
Daniella scoffed at the vampires, and Abel just smiled at them, amused by their antics. The father and son were always bickering at each other when they were not on a mission or caught up in a life-threatening situation. It was a wonder how they were able to sustain their company for so long.
“What is it?” Theseus asked.
“The company has suffered a hit.” Ricci began but he was cut off by Alphonse who got up immediately and said, “The company is moving swiftly and there has been no …”
“There has been a …” Ricci began.
“You two need to take this bickering elsewhere for fuck’s sake.” Daniella tut-tutted aggressively, causing the father and son to cease their argument and sit down, but that didn’t stop the siren from chastising them further. “This table is not for your petty arguments. Five hundred years and you two are still this way. Fucking Vamps.” The table erupted in silenced giggles.
“Hush.”Theseus said, then he kept searching everyone’s faces. He then paused and peered deeply into Nancy’s face, while she tried to avoid it. She was so agitated that she wished for a portal to open up and take her away.
“Nancy?” The reserved anger could be heard and felt in the dark oracle’s voice as he summoned the scared tribrid.
“Yes… My Lord.” Nancy replied.
“Alpha Thomas?” Theseus called out.
“Yes, my liege.” Thomas retained his smile even as he answered to Theseus.
“Why have you two failed me?” He asked, his voice still chill, yet harboring signs of anger.
“My lord, I can explain.” Nancy began. She was shivering in fear.
“Yes. Please explain, Nancy.” Thomas said, relaxing himself.
“We … I mean, I infiltrated the pack and broke them apart just as you directed…” Nancy was so scared, it was evident in her voice.
“You had one job. Kidnap Ericson and use him as bait to get Her.” Theseus said.
“My lord, there was no way he could have been used as bait after what I did. She wouldn’t have cared.” Nancy spoke out of turn.
“So you killed him?” Theseus thundered. His minions at the table waiting for his next line of action. He was never that way no matter how they had angered him, but the mission that Nancy and Thomas failed was way too important to him.
“That wasn’t me.” Nancy defended. Everyone at the table stared at her in disbelief, except Daniella. Daniella could tell that Nancy was telling the truth.
Theseus then dashed a threatening stare at Thomas, almost as if he was implying that Thomas was the one that killed Ericson.
“My liege, if I wanted to kill him, I wouldn’t do it so cowardly.” Everyone at the table then looked at him in disbelief. Marcellus grunted in approval of his words.
Since Alpha Thomas and Nancy possessed the rarest of abilities, and a very dark history, Thesus had trusted them with the mission to gain control over Avyanna, her pack, and everything that would make her to be easily controlled.
Nancy has succeeded in getting the deed to half of Wales but that wasn’t enough to vindicate her from the wrath of Theseus. They were supposed to kidnap Ericson to get to Avyanna, but they didn’t do that and that made Theseus surmise that the mission had failed and the one thing he needed more than anything was no more within his grasp.
“You have failed me and I have no more use for you… Nancy.” Theseus spoke sans the anger in his voice. He was precise and he meant what he said; he was really getting rid of Nancy despite her being the last of her kind. That is how brutal the dark oracle could be, and this was not even the worse he had done. Stories of his brutality spread so far and ran so deep, it sent chills down the spines of even his brave and mighty minions.
“My Lord…” Nancy began. She had always been faking tears at the pack house but this time, her tears were real. She didn’t grovel nor beg dramatically, she just begged for her life like the traumatized kid that she was. She pleaded with tears running down her eyes, but she held her head up in pride.
“Hush.” The dark oracle said.
“My Lord if I may…” Thomas wanted to chip in to save her.
“You may not, Thomas. Matter of fact, You and Marcellus have been tasked with ending her life.” Theseus spoke with no atom of emotion.
Nancy said, “No wait… wait. Wait!” as an eager Marcellus got up from his chair and began transforming his fist into that of his wolf. Marcellus was so powerful, he didn’t have to fully transform into a wolf.
Thomas was hesitant. He got up slowly and looked Avyanna in the eyes and whispered, “I am sorry. This isn’t personal.” He then took out a wooden stake from his cloak and held it up, ready to drive it through her chest.
Marcellus had arrived at where Nancy stood with his claws ready to rip her apart then he grunted, “Any last words?”
Nancy grit her teeth, peered into the blue eyes of the dark oracle, and said, “I know how I can get her to submit to you. I can get you what you truly want!” She still had tears rolling down her cheeks and her breaths were labored.
Marcellus and Thomas then raised their weapons and descended them down on Avyanna, almost ending her life.
She closed her eyes, ready to accept death, before she heard the voice of Theseus saying, “Both of you stand down!”
She then opened her eyes and saw the dark oracle standing directly in front of her. She could feel his very overwhelming aura surround her as his face almost made contact with hers.
“How do you intend to do that?” He asked.
