CHAPTER 65

CHAPTER SIXTY- SIX
Vanessa still thought of ways that she could inflict pain on Avyanna. For some reason, she had removed the idea that anybody else was behind the death of her brother, apart from Avyanna.
She told herself that she would make Avyanna pay for what she did to Ericson. Vanessa was greatly manipulated by Nancy, she could not believe anything apart from what Nancy told her. If she was even privileged to hear any other thing, she would term it a lie.
Before the war broke out, Vanessa suck out of the kingdom to meet Nancy. She waded her way through the woods to find Nancy situated in what used to once be Ericson's little kingdom of the Thunder Banes.
"Nancy?" Vanessa whimpered as she walked into the pack house.
"Vanessa? Is that you?" Nancy was a little bit shocked to see that Vanessa had survived the attack on the kingdom, but still happy that her bait was still alive. She was still useful at the moment.
"Yes, I come to consult with you," Vanessa said.
"Is this about the attack on the kingdom?" Nancy asked nonchalantly.
"What attack?" Vanessa was a little bit nervous. She was unaware of the havoc wreaked on the kingdom that she had just left.
"Never mind," Nancy said in a way that baited Vanessa to inquire more.
"Well, there was an attack on the kingdom of Wales," Nancy said,
"That can't be. I hope that Luna is dead." Vanessa said out of spite, not considering her own brothers.
“Well, the men succeeded, she nor her men could withstand the attack, and they did not expect it at all.” Nancy smiled as she told Vanessa.
“Avyanna, what about her, did she survive it?” Vanessa questioned, she wanted to hear the news of Avyanna's death.
“Not yet, but for now, we know the men are weak, when next we attack, we will make her the only target.”
"We? The attack was you?" Vanessa asked shakily.
"The attack was meant for only Avyanna so fret not. I know you want that, do you not?" Nancy was a master at manipulation. Vanessa was already and still broken from Ericson's death so it was so easy for Nancy to manipulate her, and Nancy was having fun with it.
“She has to die, my brother did not deserve anything like death, she has to die!” Vanessa sniffled.
“Patience Vanessa, you do not rush into things that bear immense gravity. You are going to want to take your time and plot.” Nancy proclaimed, she had a smile on her face as the thought of Vanessa and Avyanna entered her mind. If Vanessa wanted Avyanna dead so badly, then she got Vanessa where she wanted her to be. Her pawn, her weapon against Avyanna.
“My brother tried his best with her, but they did not work out, he tried to love her, to be committed to her, but it still did not work out. He thought he could fix them, but they were broken, he was still a happy man until he met you, Nancy." Vanessa spoke with a heavy heart.
Nancy smiled deviously, "Really?"
"You made him happy, he cared about you and loved you. That was the true nature of my brother, he never for once left me without care or protection. He was everything a sister could ever need, I never regretted my childhood, and my brother loved me dearly."
"Tell me all about it." Nancy pretended like she was lending a listening ear.
Vanessa sniffled and went on, "There was this one time I lost my favorite bracelet. We tried to get it from stores, but it was all sold out. Ericson knew how badly I wanted it, so he went to the next kingdom in search of it. My Mom and Dad were not exactly happy with him, but they knew he would go the extra mile for me; they knew he would go to any extent, just to make me happy." She ranted.
"That was very sweet of him. I can relate to this. He too protected me from the evil fangs and claws of Avyanna when I was just a lowly Omega he found. He treasured me and made sure I was treated right regardless of the fact that it was against what Avyanna wanted." To Vanessa, Nancy was sympathizing and empathizing with her, but all Nancy was doing was fueling the hatred that Vanessa already harbored for Avyanna.
"I loved him so much as a child and I could never tell my pain to anyone apart from him. When I grew up, I rarely dated, because many thought I was his girlfriend. Until Avyanna came, she ruined our lives, I liked her at first because she made Ericson happy, but when he no longer wanted her, I just thought she would behave maturely, and act like the leader she was, but no, she made life miserable for you and him. She did not stop until now. She didn't stop until he was dead." At this point, it was evident that Vanessa's heart was wrecked.
"Oh, Vanessa. Don't cry."
Vanessa cried her eyes out, "He is dead! dead, Nancy, dead! I want to avenge the death of my brother, no matter the cost!” Vanessa wiped her eyes, and went to get a drink, she sat down and waited for the reaction of Nancy. She observed that Nancy listened to everything she had said, she cleaned her eyes once more, as she opened her drink and continued.
“It is not in my nature to inflict pain or agony on a creature, but when the creature is wicked to me, I try my best to execute vengeance, and I serve it cold, really cold. I have lost friends over petty issues that I took seriously, I don’t mind losing an enemy who killed my brother.” Vanessa gasped for breath, as she continued to talk.
Nancy paid keen attention as if she was interested in any of the things that Vanessa said. Vanessa continued to lament vehemently, she went back to her glorious, childhood story, and she then deviated to her hate for Avyanna, and continued with how she wanted a perfect life, how her life then became perfect, and how it did not make sense anymore.
Vanessa then told Nancy how she escaped from the kingdom before the war started, she told her she left very early in the morning before Avyanna woke up, she knew she would be occupied, and also she would not have the time to check if she was in her room or not, she told Nancy that since Ericson died no one had her time, they all answered to Avyanna alone, they did not care if she wanted anything or not. That was not the truth of the story, Vanessa barely spoke to any of them, including Avyanna. They all tried to speak with Vanessa but she did not want to speak with any of them.
"Did you ever love him?" Vanessa asked, throwing Nancy off balance.
Nancy was thrown off balance, by the question. Nancy did not expect that the conversation would steer in that direction because she did not want to say anything other than the grafted speech, that she had already for Vanessa.
"Of course! Ericson was the sweetest person I ever met."
Nancy already knew what she wanted to hear, she was not going to tell her anything other than what she wanted to hear. She started with how interested she was in the welfare of Ericson, how she loved him, and how she truly wished he was alive. Nancy shared a few memories she had with him, and other romantic stuff she had to say about him. Vanessa felt relieved to hear what Nancy had said about her brother, some people rumored that Vanessa had gotten a mental sickness, since the day her brother died. She had gotten into unnecessary fights with creatures if she felt what you said about her brother was bad. She was not interested to know if he had sinned against anybody, she believed he had the best life, so anything contrary to her belief about her brother, made you contended.
“He was a nice person, no doubt, he cared for us, and he was also a good leader, but now he is gone, we need to prove that all he did for us was not in vain, you need to find means that we would use to avenge him. I am here to support you, whenever you want me to.” Nancy just wanted concrete information from Vanessa, she needed to prove herself to the big bad guy she worked for, and she had to let them know that she was capable and ready to perform whatever it was.
Vanessa was pleased by the reply she received from Nancy.
"Hey, if you have any plans on how we can return the favor to Avyanna, please let me know," Vanessa said.
Nancy was ecstatic. Her manipulation was working on Vanessa so easily.
"Now that you mention it, I do have a plan for what we can do."
"Mention it! What can I do!? Is there any way I can help?" Vanessa said eagerly.
"I am not sure you can do it." Nancy baited her.
"I can do it! Tell me. Please I need this." Vanessa begged.
"Okay. I need someone on the inside. I need you to spy on the Luna and get me information on her every step. She resides in the Lycan territory now."
"Consider it done!" Vanessa said, wiping her tears and clenching her jaw. "She will pay for what she did!"
