CHAPTER 30
CHAPTER THIRTY
"Admit it, you can't wait three days to get her here!" Roy said hoarsely. The wolf was not about to let Baron keep lying to both of them.
"I do not!" He replied his wolf in the same manner. Baron couldn't stop thinking about Avyanna, ever since he left her alone with her husband at the pack house. He kept a lid of lies on his thoughts that prevented him from overthinking about the Luna but Roy was not accepting it.
"You lie! Even to yourself!" Roy said sharply, "Can't you see, She is the most prevalent thought on your mind?"
"That's enough Roy." Baron said in defeat.
"Why do I bother. Knowing you very well, You are already cooking up a plan to get her here before three days." Roy was right, no matter how much Baron was trying to control himself from not thinking about the Luna, he couldn't control the primal push to go get his mate from the depths of her pack house to the comfort of his Lycan chambers. "Three days is enough to settle a quarrel, you know? Who knows if she might change her mind about coming over here before then." Roy continued, tempting Baron to act.
"That's enough!" Baron got up from his comfy throne in his chambers.
"Think about the nasty things that Alpha ... Ericson might do to her." Roy kept on teasing.
"I said enough!" Baron stormed out of his chambers, as Roy giggled wickedly. Baron grabbed a bunch of documents he used for work and walked outside the main house, walking to his car. He would have waited three days before he sent his most trusted goon to pick up Avyanna, but that wasn't the case anymore; he craved her so bad and he was going to get her by himself, as soon as he could.
As he stormed off, Baron's thoughts were half-filled with the image of the drop-dead Luna. He felt drawn to her, even though he was miles away from her presence. He pictured her smiling with her hair flowing in the wind, as she walked through a garden of red roses and shiny blue wolfsbane. He pictured holding her waist up, preventing her from falling and leaning into her lips.
Closer, almost connecting, feeling the electric pull of affection.
"My Alpha. You look troubled." His Beta, Steve, called out. Baron immediately changed his contenance, concealing the look of worry on it. He couldn't have his Beta suspecting that anything could trouble a man like him. "Don't do that, I already know something is making you worried. And that is ... so rare."
Baron dashed a serious gaze at Steve and said, "Nothing makes me worried."
"The last time I saw you this way was way back in..."
"Don't bring it up." Baron hated dwelling in the past or listening to things that made him sulk about what happened in the past. This fact about him made him not care to hear what his Beta had to say.
"Alright fine. What I'm trying to say is, it's probably not safe for you to drive fuming this way." Steve said.
Baron heaved a deep sigh and let out a strained growl. He was yet to let any soul know that Avyanna was his mate; even his Beta, Steve, did not know. "I'm going to see the Luna."
"Weren't you just there yesterday?" Steve raised an eyebrow as he inquired.
"Well that's kind of the whole point of my worrisome state, isn't it, Steve?" Baron grit his teeth as he spoke.
"Ohh." Steve's eyes lit up in realization.
Arriving at the spot where his car was parked, he stopped walking, turned to Steve and said, "I'm going to see the Luna about some work stuff." Baron opened the door of his car and got in.
"Work stuff, eh." Steve leaned on the rolled down window.
"Yes. Work... Stuff." Baron started the engine, about to rev the car.
"What kind of work will warrant you to go all the way to the pack house, two days in a row? That is so unlike you." Steve asked, playfully.
"Yeah, what work stuff?" Roy resurfaced again and teased.
Baron squeezed the steering wheel, not ready to drive away just yet. He put off the engine of the car and got out to stand in front of Steve.
"There is something about the Luna that pulls me closer to her." Baron revealed.
"Yeah. I get the feeling. Trust me, you won't feel this way anymore once you have sex with her." Steve teased.
"No, this isn't that. This is something deeper, something primal, something..." Baron explained.
"Yeah, it always feels that way. Just have sex with her at once." Steve smiled.
"You're not listening to me! The Luna is my mate!" Baron yelled loud enough to startle Steve, but not so loud enough for anyone else to hear him.
He completely took Steve by surprise and Steve just stared in shock at the Lycan Alpha.
"Whoa. I ... How... " Steve searched inwardly for the right words to say.
"I know, it's strange. But, I'm telling you, this isn't a fleeting feeling. It is very powerful, it almost feels like it shouldn't exist." Baron explained further to the full attention of Steve.
"When did you find out?"
"That night of the Full Moon Feast. That is the night I knew who the person was. Before that I only felt a supernatural magnetic pull at Laurel Hills." Baron reminisced the night as he spoke.
"That is bonkers. Does your sister know about this?" Steve asked calmly.
"No! And she must not. I cannot risk Avyanna knowing. My sister has a mouth like a running tap. It would take the grace of the moon goddess to make her keep a secret for more than two minutes. I will only tell Avyanna the truth, when I am ready to." Baron said.
Baron was consciously aware of Gina's inability to hold a secret, unlike his second, seven-year-old sister, Rania. Rania is more reserved and seemingly less feminine than Gina is. Their royal family was unlike any other. The Fergus' were well known for their ability to rule with an iron-fist, a warm-heart, and a very protective spirit.
Sadly, the original Ferguses, Baron's parents, died mysteriously six years ago, leaving Baron in charge of the Lycan kingdom.
Ever since then, the siblings had moved on and the kingdom suffered no much losses after the demise of the Ferguses, thanks to the emotional strength of Baron Fergus. He may have looked like a spoilt child but Baron had dedicated so much of his time and hardwork to the Lycan kingdom.
Baron's life took a turn after discovering his new found mate. He found himself thinking so much about Avyanna, imagining himself saving her from harm, even his dreams were haunted by images of a nude Avyanna. He couldn't even bring himself to touch any other lady after He had found out Avyanna's existence.
He was so eager to have her in his abode, he had prepared so well for her arrival. After he left the pack house the previous day, he returned to his abode and he picked out a large room that was not so far from his chambers. He had it decorated according to her preferences; he got an idea about the designs and furniture types that Avyanna liked from the way she designed her office. He was so prepared for her coming, he made sure that the area of her room was free of unnecessary noise and disturbance.
"I want to accompany you to Wales." Steve said, grabbing the door handle of Baron's car.
"That won't be necessary. I want to go there alone. You should stay around and make sure that everything is in order here while I am away." Baron said commandingly, opening his car and getting in. "Gina cannot know what I told you! Noone else can! atleast not yet, Is that clear?" He asked.
"Understood." Steve replied, then Baron sent his car driving very fast, full-throttle, leaving a whiff of dust behind.
Upon arriving at the pack house in Wales, he heard the faint sounds of commotion in the distance. He parked his vehicle at the entrance of the pack house, and stepped down from it. He walked majestically into the pack house and the first person he came across was, Rita.
"The Lycan Alpha." She gasped, bowing before him.
"Why the noise?" Baron asked, maintaining a proud stare.
"The Luna was wrongly accused of hurting an Omega." Rita answered, raising her head up but still avoiding looking into the icy cold eyes of the Lycan King.
"What Omega!?"
"She goes by the name of Nancy."
"Where is the Luna!?" Baron stormed.
"She just left to her chambers, with the Alpha." Rita pointed towards her chambers.
Baron stormed angrily to her chambers. "How dare that Alpha!" He fumed as he walked the stairs. As he arrived at the door to her office, he heard voices of arguments coming from the room so he stopped to eavesdrop.
The voices were muffled but he could hear it clearly:
"I really don't need an apology Eric. Trust me. I am totally okay. Have fun with your little mistress." It was Avyanna's voice.
"I have been thinking about your trip to the Lycan king's place, you know." Ericson said.
"What about it?" He could hear the slight anger in her voice when she spoke.
"I don't think you should go anymore." As soon as Ericson said that, Baron boiled in anger. He couldn't even control the anger anymore, he just stormed into the room.
"And why shouldn't she!" Baron flung open the door as he raged into the room. He allowed a moment for his impact to be made, then he said to Ericson with a smile, "I think she should still come with me dear Alpha. This instance, perhaps."
"You said in three days. It's just been twenty-four hours."
Baron fixated his gaze on Avyanna, who looked like she had enough of Ericson's crap. She sensed delight and happiness in her eyes which arose because she saw him. He felt that she was waiting for her savior to come, despite how she controlled her anger when dealing with Ericson.
"What's that supposed to mean? I could still go with the Lycan Alpha as long as it's the day he prefers." Avyanna cut in.
"Exactly. And I think right now is just fine." Baron smirked.
"Avyanna, you can't go yet. We have things to settle." Ericson said.
"No, I think you will settle them well enough with your mistress." Avyanna crossed her arms across her chest.
"This is serious Avy." Ericson said, almost commandingly.
"So am I."
"So is she." Baron said, chorusing with Avyanna.
Ericson sighed in defeat and said in a low tone, "You can go." He gave up and walked out of the office with his head bowed.
In no time, Avyanna was out of the pack house and on a journey to the Lycan territory with Baron.
Inside his car, Avyanna sat at the front seat beside him staring at the road ahead without glancing at him. He managed to steal a few stares from her and he surmised that she wasn't as excited about the trip like he had anticipated. He felt like she just used him to leave her pack house, and get away from Ericson.
His lewd thoughts overtook him as he drove, he imagined stopping the car and sharing an intense kiss with Avy.
"You would like that wouldn't you."
"Shut up Roy."
Her scent pierced his nostrils and he felt ever drawn to her. Eyes on the road, but his vision impaired by his thoughts. He almost didn't see the truck driving full speed towards him.
"Hey Watch out!" She screamed, getting him back in touch with reality.
But it was too late.
