CHAPTER 17
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
The Luna and the Lycan Alpha, walked out of the room together with Steve and Gina behind them, and grandly walked into the main hall where the main event was taking place.
They made sure to make their entrance a scene worth looking at; they turned necks and all they had to do was walk slowly, grandly, and arm-in-arm. The Lycans and the werewolves watched Avyanna's grand entrance with gaped mouths, dropped jaws, jealous eyes, a smile, and subtle nods of approval. The Lycan Alpha and the Luna of Wales were easily the main attraction for that night.
It was an absurd sight to see a Lycan and a Werewolf walk so closely together; walking comfortably like unsaid words didn't lurk in the corner of the minds of Werewolves, as well as, Lycans_ unsaid words which sole purpose was to deter such a matrimony. This wasn't an ordinary Lycan nor an ordinary werewolf, it was the Lycan Alpha and the great Luna of Wales, walking hand-in-hand, smiling as they stared dreamily into each other's eyes. It was so unusual, attracting the attention of everyone in the room was inevitable.
Avyanna did not deceive herself by feeling way too important. She felt privileged to be in the midst of the Lycans, but she couldn't let that show. As humble as she felt in that moment she also felt powerful and unique because the Lycans were very selective when it came to their relationship with other people who weren't their kind.
Years back, the point in time that she had saved the Lycan kids from the traps set by the rogues, everyone was proud of her although she didn't believe she could win such a fight. Avyanna had been hiding when she heard the Lycan kids cry for help, she could not just stay there and watch, she had to save them. Her brave decision to save them turned out to be a good deed that she would forever be remembered for. 'Hero' was attached to her name by the Lycans that knew of her brave deed and the title haunted her in any Lycan territory she toured, even the little territory at the feast. Avyanna had no idea that Baron knew about that, so she was proud of herself and pleased with knowing that Baron knew, after he had mentioned it earlier.
At the time that Avyanna had saved the Lycan kids, Ericson bragged about his wife anywhere he went. He never stopped praising her for her courage and that was a reason she felt encouraged to stay by his side; the way he praised her and made her feel like a Messiah. Avyanna respected people that appreciated her efforts and Ericson was one of them_ was.
Ericson heard the silent cheers and "oohs" that came from the crowd so he turned around to see what commanded attention from the guests in the Feast. He slowly removed his hands from Nancy's with anger when he saw his wife with the Lycan Alpha standing in the middle of the hall together. Baron's hands were on Avyanna's bare back and Avyanna placed her hands on his nape.
The spotlight that lit up the dance-floor lit up and the duo began a slow waltz as they held each other sensually, and stared into each other's eyes. They slowly moved to the tune of the music. Avyanna felt ripples of cold blood flow down her spine as she flexed the muscles on her waist. Baron's muscles rippled with energy as he gripped the slender waist of his mate.
Ericson's countenance turned red in anger, his annoyance ever growing. He couldn't think straight anymore but he knew that he couldn't do anything to the Lycan Alpha. He didn't want to cause a scene or risk inciting a war with the Lycans.
Avyanna was shy when she started dancing but she gradually began to enjoy the way everyone was focused on them. The men in the hall were still looking at her with lustful eyes, they too wanted an opportunity to hold her the same way the Lycan Alpha held her.
Avyanna was happy. Her night wasn't as terrible as it was in her past life. In her past life, after Nancy had already ruined her dress, she could not do anything. Avyanna was so embarrassed so she scurried away to a corner far from the crowd to avoid being seen. Nancy then became the queen of that night. She danced with Ericson throughout out, gaining favour and approval from other guests that had attended the feast. Nancy had won in her past life but things worked in Avyanna's favor in the later life.
Ericson wasn't holding hands with Nancy anymore, he was too focused on his wife waltzing erotically with another Man. Nancy was annoyed at the way Ericson just left her. The night wasn't the way Nancy thought it would be. She wore the best dress that was meant for the Luna but Avyanna got a better one than hers. Nancy had not repudiated the fact that Avyanna was insanely beautiful.
Avyanna knew she was the topic of discussion at the moment. The people wondered why the Alpha left his beautiful Luna to accommodate an Omega. Different stories were told that night. Ladies in the hall envied her, most of them probably attempted to get the Lycan Alpha's attention but had failed but there he was, dancing with Luna Avyanna.
"Are you okay?" Baron asked Avyanna, after he noticed how uneasy she was.
"Yes I'm fine, it just feels weird."
"What is weird? Dancing with me."
He pulled himself closer to her, his breath warming her skin and his lips leaning into her neck. Her hair erected and she closed her eyes to drown into the good feeling of Baron arousing her neck. He was almost kissing her neck and it was the anticipation that aroused Avyanna.
Avyanna couldn't concentrate anymore. She was losing some dance steps but Baron didn't care about it, he kept holding her and looking straight into her face. Avyanna thought of what to do, she had not been a situation like this before, not even with her husband Ericson. Baron gave her butterflies anytime she admired his handsome face, so she tried to avoid his eyes. If there was one thing Avyanna had learnt from her parents in becoming a Luna, it was self control. She was so good at it but that night, her body and brain was failing her. What ever happened in that moment wasn't part of her plans.
"Why did you choose me of all people to dance with you tonight?" Avyanna was confused.
"Did I make a wrong decision? Because I don't think I did."
"But why?"
"I told you earlier that I am doing what your husband was supposed to do tonight with you." Baron disliked referring to Avyanna's husband at that moment. Baron did not want Avyanna to think about Ericson. Her husband had hurt her and Baron felt it too when he had been listening to her predicament. He wished he could take the pain away and he wanted her to be happy as well.
"I wasn't complaining, besides I don't think I am really good at dancing with you either." Avyanna said.
"It doesn't matter. I am enjoying myself incase you want to know and I don't want you to think that you're not good enough for your husband, he hasn't even realized the grave mistake he is making." Baron held her palms, withdrew from her, spun her around slowly and held her waist again, resuming the dance.
Avyanna wished she could say the same but in her past life, things only got worser even when she had given Ericson space and time to sort out himself.
"I never said that's the way I see the situation and I don't want your pity." Avyanna's smile was fading.
"You are a brave woman Avyanna but you should know that I would do whatever I can to protect what is mine."
"What do you mean? How am I yours?"
Baron wasn't going to say more than that until it was the right time."Avyanna, what we would be doing together, would make us allies for a long time and I make it a habit to keep everyone I work with close and familiar on a personal lever." Baron said, with a straight face.
"Oh..." Avyanna face almost lit up at the sound of Baron declaring his resolve to keep her close.
"Avyanna, I want to ask you a personal question, forgive me if I have overstepped my boundaries."
"It's alright, go ahead." Avyanna was curious about how personal the question the Lycan King intended to ask could get.
"Is your wolf present right now?" Avyanna was suprised why he would ask her something like that and the worst part was that she didn't know the response to give him.
"I don't think so."
"I don't understand, is she ill or something?" Baron pressed further when he heard the hint of deception in her tone.
Avyanna wanted to avoid the conversation, she wasn't prepared for it. No one had asked her about her wolf in her second life since she had returned and it was all new to her.
"She isn't speaking to me." Avy said with her head bowed.
"Okay. Thank you for your time tonight, it was a pleasure spending time with you."
The crowd roared with cheers and applauds as the music that played came to an end. Baron retracted himself from Avyanna, still holding her hands. He bent and kissed her tender-hard knuckles. He smiled to the crowd, took a bow and left the hall.
Avyanna wondered if she had said anything wrong that made the Lycan Alpha angry with her. Buried in her train of thoughts, she didn't realize the moment that a strong hand gripped her arm from behind her.
"What the hell was that about!" He growled, his wolf almost baring itself out.
